So much depends on the recipe and desired result. Personally, I think Morgan's Private has too much non-rhum flavour about it, and that one would need to account for those flavors. For cooking when I want a good rhum flavour, say in my signature rhum cake, I choose Gosling's Black Seal. When it's more for kick than flavour, then I use an amber "mixing" rhum, something like Cruzan's.

What is consciousness? Are we the sum of the conscious thought? What about pre-conscious and sub-conscious thought? How is it possible that we can we think about our thoughts? (Are you sure you're not Phil in disguise? And where the hell is blackjohn? This is getting good...) Actually, my query was just to the nature of thought. If you want to throw consciousness into the discussion, then we really do need to move this to another thread before philosophic discourse is thrown out as a Petty Annoyance, let alone a corrupting influence on the youth. From where do these floating thoughts originate? Are these thoughts that float through one's consciousness themselves conscious, the stuff of consciousness, or something else altogether? Is emotion thought? Enquiring minds want to know!

Here's an idea, pure speculation mind ye: The shaker is to hold whole decorticated cardamom which is added to the whole coffee beans and the two are ground together in the grinder.

Are you putting sugar in the grinder? That's for coffee! I have not seen the piece in question before. I am familiar with sweet Turkish coffee. The sugar, however, is boiled with the coffee in the pot and not added to the serving cup.
