  1. The type of pistol, as I have spoken with Track of the Wolf, Inc & Dixie Gunworks. The only closest that Track of the Wolf got was a flintlock pistol kit, circa 1740 - 1770. The hammer/cock/ flintlock portion of it appeared to look more like the Virginia model. The inlaid detail... rather difficult to say, really. All I know is that the butt end of it has a skull, rather different than the skull on the butt end of Jack's pistol. Huzzah! Anastazia ~Master & Commander of the Resurrection
  2. Why, Thank ye Catain Emerald. Most kind of ya. Huzzah! Anastazia ~Master & Commander of the Resurrection
  3. Same here. I'll be a waitin'. Hopin' I can join ya all fer a few drinks & some pirating. Just keep me informed. BTW, I'm 4 hours away.. just over here in lil' ol' Iowa.. across the mighty Miss. Huzzah! Anastazia ~Master & Commander of the Resurrection
  4. Awww.. bummers. Well... I'll patiently await the return of the ships in 2005 then. Until then... still up for any get togethers.. or events. LOL... I'll be going to re-enactments as always this year. How many? Don't know. Quebec looks interesting.. just depends on whether I can make it or not... another country, that's rather a slight challenge at this time. Well... Thank ye much, Royliste-mun for the info. I tried checking up on the ships that made it for the Tall Ships event in Chicago July 2003, but they never mentioned what ships. Was kinda bummed. Hopefully, the next time I go, I'll see a familiar ship. Huzzah! Anastazia ~Master & Commander of the Resurrection
  5. Aye, Fish... I made them both. The shirt, the ballow breeches, waistcoat & coat. Even made the hat! Which I am most proud of. Made the sword sling, the sashs & the belt. The only thing I didn't make were the boots. :) I hope to get better boots soon enough. Hehehe.. Tabitha... I'm sure if I got a hold of ya.. I could make ya more intimidating to the point you would scare yourself! Of course.. I have been told by my Bro in law that I am intimidating... LOL... lil' ol' me? Intimidating? I'm all giggles instead of intimidating. Hawkyns.. William... I agree with ya as well... hence I am making more attire for myself. I have some plain old solid brown antique material I plan to use as well as cotton material .. white.. to make a couple of gents shirts. Even more old material to make some bodices & a wench's outfit. Love it when I find a box full of material! But... with times being as they are.. who wants to spend a ton of money on outfits like this? Unless you want to wear them every day. & yes, I know the polyester bit.. :: Cringes:: Ouch, the poor man had to have been panting by the end of the day! As a re-enacting rookie, from my research, they are not kidding about natural materials being better for ya. I can't complain when I am at a re-enactment, the material is FAR more breathable than non-natural stuff. My costume is mostly cotton & satin, hence not too heavy (just some) & very breathable. Same with the stays I recently made. Opted for a cooler boning... used reeding which I got at Hancock fabric. Cheap, bendable... but when boning the stays fully, they support really well... very comfy I should say. They break easily unfortunately, but with the amount I got.. should last me this year as replacements boning. Natural is a good route. Huzzah! Anastazia ~Master & Commander of the Resurrection
  6. I'm backing RumbaRue & Hawkyns here... Panther Primatives is pretty much the best tent maker for re-enactors out there. As I am told. They make a huge variety as well. I bought my tent, a wedge with a bell back via Townsend & am rather pleased with it. Not that hard to maintain either, which.. for a person as lazy as I... that's a great thing! OK.. links... here they are.. Panther Primitives Panther Primitives Jas. Townsend & Sons Jas. Townsend & Sons Hope that helps some, shipmate. Townsend has a few other nautical items like a spyglass, compass... bosun whistle... plus other items that will be useful in portraying an 18th c character. :) I've ordered from these people before.. found them to be efficiant, friendly & have good products. Huzzah! Anastazia ~Master & Commander of the Resurrection
  7. I'm with ya there, shipmate. Need more pyratical events her ein the midwest. I've done a fair travel to the Chicago area. Suppose.. I will check with the tourism bureau & see if they will have a Tall Ship fest again in 2004 like they did the last weekend in July 2003. I was rather bummed cause I was in Chicago during that time.. actually I was leaving Chicago.. so, never got the chance to swing by the Navy Pier to take a glimpse of the ships. Maybe if they have another Tall Ships event, we should make plans for that? Plus there was mention of a Ren Faire that is around... Kenosha, WI.. just north of Chicago.. lovely area.. really. A couple events over in Chicago.. maybe a couple along the ol Miss. I'm game! Huzzah! Anastazia ~Master & Commander of the Resurrection
  8. I'm inclined to agree with the medallion touching the water. I've been pondering a few things as well since I saw the movie months ago. & Honestly, found a lot of them not having any loose ends, amazingly enough. I can see that the gold would find the water easier to call to pirates.. since pirates are water thieves. Giving specific locale & who is holding, etc. As to Will at the beginning... he was on a piece from the merchant ship.. the gold may have or should I say have informed the pirates that it was there.. but with the arrival of the Dauntless.. you think that they were willing to run up against that specific ship when it's already on the alert? Despite the pirates are cursed. I'm sure they realized within a month at most if not a couple days what was happening to them. & finding the scattered pieces... being as.. persistant as they are, I'm sure it didn't take them too long to return all but the one piece of gold to the chest. There are other things in the movie that make me VERY curious & wonder if it will coinside with the sequel.. like the chest... is actually an Incan chest, though the gold is of Aztec design. Plus the Aztec gold looks much like the calender, a couple Mexican friends of mine, plus an friend who is studying Aztec culture & I noticed this. Another friend of mine pondered about the 3rd time we saw it in the theaters, that if Elizabeth had dropped it, why were they in a panic if she dropped it? Couldn't they just go under the water & retrieve it? Like they did closer to the end with sneaking aboard the Dauntless? My opinion is... do you REALLY want to stay in port for god knows how long combing the bottom of the port searching for the bloody piece when it's right there in front of you? Plus, it makes for a great dramatic scene. I was able to take what appeared to be loop holes & notice they were covered rather well. Another is Bootstrap... well... writers say he's dead... & .. if you see closer to the end.. with Mallot & Grapple, knocked over the side, I think they splintered into pieces & bits of bone into the water... As well as Jacoby & the 2 other pirates with the staff or whatever through them... they were blown up... so... with Bootstrap sunk to the "crushing black oblivion".... I don't think this was some shallow lagoon that Barbossa dumped him off into... ei.. like Titanic... dragged down to the depths of the abyss it's in, eaten up by water bacteria, etc.. Yeah... I can see how he is actually.. dead.... with no moonlight, one REALLY can't live under the water. Barbossa didn't say they couldn't breathe... he just can't feel certain pleasures & fancies.. same as when he & Jack are in the sword battle, again my friend was wondering how Barbossa as well as a couple other pirates were able to react to pain.. well... depends, I replied... if one is used to it.. or you have been hit in that area before.. or, if the bone was hit. It was pleasures that they couldn't feel, didn't mean that pain was one thing they couldn't feel since they felt the pain of hunger & thirst. So... fun finding the loop holes then coming to find out, they were covered rather well. Huzzah! Anastazia ~Master & Commander of the Resurrection
  9. HUZZAH! Drinks all 'round! I have my wine! Aye.. a pity about Johnny. But... If Johnny gets nominated, in my opinion, so should Rush. Those 2 were amazing. Especially together. Plus how well they did their characters, composing them. Just far too awesome. :) & Elaina.. LOVE the Jason pic! Hehehe... I still haven't seen the movie.. hope to soon... but Jason is a delight. & to see him as a pirate.. especially now.. just doubles my delight. Huzzah! Anastazia ~Master & Commander of the Resurrection
  10. Aye, Cap'n Grey! & she be wildly fun. I think we owe her so many rounds of whatever drink strikes her fancy... that we can't seem to repay her or thank her enough! Huzzah! Anastazia ~Master & Commander of the Resurrection
  11. I am very impressed with the attire of the majority of the pirates here. I do like your styles, Tabitha. Very classy. I like classy. The gent in red.. sharp. Very Captain Morgan-ish! Handsome devilish rogue in that attire. Even pirates have to look their best! All the more plunder to ya for such attire! Huzzah! Anastazia ~Master & Commander of the Resurrection
  12. Aye. They look right nice.. but rather over priced in my opinion. If a coat is going to cost over $500.. it better be adorned with jewels! I made my whole pirate outfit (the foppish black clad one) for around $200... every bit of it... & with just as good quality, too. Ghost Forge themselves don't price attire that high. I'm sure the attire by Carlisle is nice & well done... but, truly... a bit much. Unless they did it all by hand & the material was $50 a yard.. then I can see having it that high. I think we have enough gifted pirates upon this board... that would be willing to make attire for fellow pirates. I being one of them. Just.. still working on a couple other outfits, including a couple more dresses for myself. Plus.. I have some material here that I just need to use & make some outfits out of them. A couple are antique designs. :) I suppose I'd be willin' to put my 2 pence in & offer makin' some outfits for people. I can do them by hand or with machine, ladies or gents attire. A couple examples of my handy work... are on the pubs album. Just look for CptnAnastaziaBlackheart.. that be me & the attire I have done. I have a couple more than I hope to upload to display soon. I like to customise an outfit to help create a look that is fantastic. I'm still adding to that black clad pirate captain's outfit. But... I should say, it's nearly finished! Cheap.. I've had TONS of compliments & several people take pictures of it... & I love it! Comfy as all get out. The issue at hand is not just clothes... but the rest like the boots, caboot does have some nice boots as well... but finding some fancy shoes, that's a challenge. Or... even hats. Besides the general black. I know there are some out there that are different colours like red, purple, green. I have seen them at Old Threshers. Pondered buying a few & making some fancy hats with the different colors. Ladies... might I suggest for some nice, lovely jewelry that is close to period.. check out Avon! No joke! I wear a couple pieces at Rev War events & can pass them off splendidly! They are right nice & fine jewels. I'm impressed with them. They have a couple items in the catalog at current that are rather eye catching. Any pirate would love to get their hands upon them. & the price for these find jewels be within everyone's budget. Huzzah! Anastazia ~Master & Commander of the Resurrection
  13. Basically tells us what we already know. So... no new info... yet... obviously. Huzzah! Anastazia ~Master & Commander of the Resurrection
  14. Believe it or not, my first intro to pirates was "The Goonies". Seeing the Inferno there with all the skeletons in that garb & the wealth & riches. I never thought of anyting like that.. nor seen anything like that before. I was young.. must have been a year following it's release in the theater when I saw it on VHS. From there... I found Treasure Island... read the book.. then was instantly hooked! Long JOhn Silver became a favorite character of mine. I read ore pirate books including a fictional old book "Blackbeard's Ghost" if anyone has ever read that book. I got a good laugh out of it. It was then I was introduced, in a manner of speaking, to Blackbeard... & did some research.. as much as one pre-teen girl could do at the mid to late 80's. I literially was like a young Elizabeth Swann. Dreaming of pirates.. wanting to meet up with one & even wanting to join them, let alone be whisked away by a pirate. Etc... Over the years I mellowed out. I watched a couple 'pirate-like' movies. But it was this past may-june that I was once again intregued. A couple people informed me that pyratical portrayal & recreation was out there.I thought it was only along the coasts. Then.. Pirates of the Caribbean came along. It was then... well, a month after the release & watching it 3 times by then.. that I was drawn back to pyracy. Now.. with the internet... some re-enacting ties & more... Here I am... once again... pulling off a retro Elizabeth Swann here & more interested in pirates than ever. Re-familiarizing myself with the materials & even getting involved in pyratical portrayal! :) What better time to return than during the Year of the Pirate! Huzzah! Anastazia ~master & commander of the Resurrection
  15. Aye, Cap'n Morgan! Marines! Continentals nonetheless. Lively & livid bunch they be. Right nice gents. :) I'm sure they are looking for more men to join up. But Aye! Would be lookin' to enjoy the company of Cap'n Morgan as a ship mate. Any ideas of events 'round these parts? Only one I am aware of is the Ren Fest in the Amanas. I think that there are a couple more over along the ol' Miss. Form a crew.. maybe 2. Have some good competition & such. What say you, mate? Huzzah!
  16. Yes.. I've tried both... the calender & searchin' for a crew.. but none in my area. the only ones I am aware of in the midwest is the one in Kansas, Minnesota & Wisconsin... more than 4 hours from my current locale. Especially Kansas. I have been ponderin' startin' up a crew along the ol mighty Mississippi. :) Time will tell. Need to get connected with a few 'round here to see who is serious. Maybe treat them to a Rev War weekend as well. Discuss terms & articles over Rum & god knows what all sorts of drink the Continental Marines have! Anyone 'round the mighty Mississippi up for it? I'll be working on forms & all. Huzzah!
  17. Aye! The stories are rather out there. Easier to dispell them. But I have to admit.. the title floatin' around "PotC: Treasures of the Lost Abyss".. that sounds rather intreguing. This title is rather spot on I think. I do look forward to some of the same witty humor. I enjoyed some of that even in Treasure Planet. The feline.. Amelia... ahhh, she had some of that humor that was so fantastic! Even a similiar line "Do I make my self clear?" asked by Arrow in TP & Norrington in PotC, each movie with different but fantastic answers like "Transparently" from that 'spider psycho' in TP & then Jack's reply to Norrington "Inescapibly". I love those. I would think also that in sequels not only do some change writers, but actors also. So.. with PotC keeping pretty much everyone the same... especially the actors.. that will be more than a plus. & yes, I continuously watch POtC to help dull the pain & torture of having been forced to watch Matrix Reloaded & Revolutions over & over & over again. Having had it here in Ceder Rapids at the IMAX. It was pure torture! I would rather have that damned Aztec curse than watch Matrix again! Huzzah!
  18. The local theater is lookin' for people to play ol' pirate jigs & sea shanties. Unfortunately, no fiddle have I.. but I do have a wooden recorder. Anyone have a few good ol' sea shanties that can be used? The director is lookin' for more peeps to be in a play of Treasure Island. Hehehe... I suppose the trademark song for TI 'bottle o' rum' would be good as well as "pirates life for me".. anyone have it in a format for a recorder? Again.. as well as any quick ones to learn for a recorder.
  19. I would take one.. unfortunately.. 1. unable to at the moment due to money... 2. I would need one that is battle appropriate. I still have yet to ask the NWTA weapons officer if this sword is appropriate for me to use. Being as I am a dragoon in Lee's Legion portrayed during 1780-1781. I'm not able to use the saber I have since it's the heavy Civ war cavalry sword... the 3 banded brass & black leather handle saber that is on the PotC skull & crossed swords logo... even has the tarnish.. bought mine over 2 years ago. .. Anyway.. they won't let me use it since it's not authentic to Rev War. Was kinda funny when a friend of mine saw it, she nearly keeled over.. took it to a convention in St. Louis, showed a few people & it was nearly stolen about 5 times. Popular sword... eventhough it was used by another character instead of Jack or Hector (Barbossa). So.. lookin' for an appropriate sword for my portrayal. Huzzah!
  20. LMAO! Amen, Scupper! Actually... I've heard from several people they would LOVE to have a Pirates of the Caribbean convention. Seriously. I asked about online.. found a fair amount of people willing to go if one was put on. As to How many times have I seen it? Well... truth be told.. 19 times in the theater.. nearly every bloody night since I bought the DVD. No joke, folks. I've seen it more times that I saw "The Patriot" & "Titanic" combined! Will NEVER get sick of this movie! Aye.. I listen to the soundtrack quite often as well. Track #7 being my fav. My friend calls it 'pissy German music'. Well.. I am mostly German decent. I like to think the music goes well when I am on my way to Rev War re-enactments as well. I LOVE the sound of the cannons & all. Feel right at home with it all. Hey.. what can I say... I'm a dragoon! Huzzah!
  21. :: tosses Iron Bess a case of Vanilla Coke:: Don't drink coke.. but.. if they like it.. I'm willin' to please. I, however... will take a nice, sweet wine. :: evil grinz:: Amen, Maria.. Serendipity... Dreamie... It's so much better now & easier to defunk the rumors. Thanks to Iron Bess here who is strong & true. Huzzah! For Iron Bess! I am slightly curious as to what the next story will be like. Though a couple people I know supposedly got ahold of a copy of the script (supposedly) & thought that it was not all the best.. kinda different than what turned out in the movie. Not sure about this since I saw one supposed script.. LOL.. funny thing about it.. it looked like a bad script version of the Junior Novel. :: shakes head:: amazing what has been popping up. I'm currently content with patiently awaiting the casting call... :: Crossing fingers:: Lord would I LOVE to be in that movie.. :) Hello! It's a pirate movie.. what pirate wouldn't want to be in it! :) Plus content with some of the comic book stuff they are putting out like the latest issue of Disney Adventures Comic Zone. Nephew loves to read the PotC stories. As well as content with a stand up of Barbossa I was lucky enough to grab before it was thrown out. Umm.. besides... putting PotC out in May 2005.. NOT GOOD! Not when Star Wars Episode 3 will be released at that time. Definitely .. not good! Despite I would love it being as my Bday is in that month... but putting it out around the same time as another blockbuster hit? That's just brain dead non-thinkin' there. Maybe putting it out in July should be the norm. LOL... since they used the Lady Washington.. think they will use another ship? Like the Royaliste? Or Hawaiian Chieftan? :: Shrugs:: just a thought. Huzzah!
  22. Here! Here! Dreamie... Tis amazin' the rumors that fly around the web about PotC 2. Just hear another one ... similiar to one I have already heard before... about the daughter of Barbossa showing up. :: Runs back to find it.::: Ahhh... here we be: "I'm sure you've all heard the talk about the POTC sequel and besides some things i have found others. The sequel is due out in May of 2005. (YYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! !!!) Also JACK THE MONKEY will be a big part in it. The Abyss is the very first pirate ship that ever set sail. so I be thinking that its good. Also, just to clear up some speculation. I don't think that Barbossa's daughter is in this one. I have news that she is actually going to be in the 3rd and will only make a short appereance in the 2nd." Again.. an old rumor. Not one I truly believe. But... as I have mentioned... if it doesn't come from Iron Bess.. I won't give it a thought. Amazing though how these rumors circulate & with slight changes when I hear them. Though... again, I like the idea of the title. Very cool. Huzzah!
  23. Just want to express my excitement over the Iowa Hawkeyes win on New Years day over Florida! :: cheers:: How does this tie in with pirates you say? Simple... the Outback Bowl was held in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers very own stadium! The win was just overly amazing! 38 - 17 I do believe! THIS is the first win for the Hawks in around 27 years for a Bowl game! No joke! I give credit to the luck of the year of the pirate for this! :) I'm SOOO excited & may the year of the pirate reign on into 2004! Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!
  24. I noticed a lot of pyratical events happenin' along the coasts & elsewhere. But is there anythin' happening that is a little closer to home here in the midwest... along the mighty Mississippi? Any Ren fests? Even any pirates ponderin' a get together? If not... I be stuck here... landlocked in Eastern Iowa... more than willing to do somethin'.. even if only just to meet up for a pint or glass o' wine. I'm ichin' for some plunderin'! :: evil grinz:: What say ye out there?! Huzzah!
  25. Aye... mates, would be thre.. but that bea time I am unable to show my face. Be there longer hours? More days? Huzzah!
