Thanks for the lead on the good price! I'll be ordering one myself!!! Rats
-
I see nothing wrong with it! I've been planning to also pick up a utilitarian blade for around the camp.
-
Very politely and respectfully said Mike! Especially when some might have chosen otherwise and caused offense. That shows not only good form, but also good character. My compliments to you sir!
-
I knew I recognized the blade on his hip!!! If I knew he was going to be there I would have called in sick to make the event...Just for the opportunity to pick his brain and talk shop....!!!!

I thought I'd throw out some ideas and also look for some recipes... For starters, at Pike River, we had an excellent stew which I have no idea as to the contents. But my missus and sister out- I mean in-law made some very tasty shish-ka-bombers. We also had some very good corn on the cobb and fresh bread. All seemed simple to throw together and the variety was nice. Breakfast was very nice with eggs, ham, potatos and a corn cake??? I suppose some pancakes and bacon would also be an easy fix... However it seems bonless porkchops $4 for 4-6 are cheaper than a side of ham or a couple pounds of bacon... BTW: GAoP or not, it's been years since I had a good potato pancake... Anyone have a good recipe??? Rats

Dosen't that young fellow with the red chops remind you of Breendon Gleeson???
-
Mr. Bottles is already taking care of that very task Captain!!! A keeper he is!!

....................... ............................Yes please! What??!..... Was someone talking about something.......??
-
Now that's what I'm talking about!!!! That would be perfect for demos and if made correctly??? For rough housing!! Rats
-
AH yes!! Sweet Bess!! I thought that's what you were going for my dear!!! And DD..... Did I not also mention your "presence" during our character discussion at Pike. It's funny, but I've noticed that regardless of which era you are reenacting, the fellas seem to be a dime a dozen.....(OK Mad dog, 2 for a dollar!) But when you see the ladies done up, regardless of weather it's a poor serving girl or a proper lady, they really make the difference to what would otherwise be "a bunch of guys shooting at each other and falling down." You gotta love the ladies!!! Here's to em all!

Yeah! Like I said captain.... It's a potato masher, thingy...thing from the farthest reaches of Aaaaaaaaasia
-
Well said William!! Especially without appearing to "be putting on airs"! R
-
I wasn't going to touch that!!! I mean bring that up... I mean not "it up" I mean "that thing " she's holding... Not that it's a "thing".... what I mean is.... Oh never mind!!! Yes! I think MD would make a great Black Beard. Especially after buying the miniseries (Now on sale at Walmart) he has the Scottish accent down... Plus we could get Charlton or Sam playing Maynard for the David and Goliath angle. Think MD would dye his beard black?? Otherwise I think we should just write our own storyline, so we don't have to worry about specifics. We already have a very good start!! JMHO

I said "Sultry" not "Insulting"!!! rats

Anyone have any good pics for Pikes, bills and other various hooks and such? Since my sword hand has been giving me problems, I'm wondering about two-handed options, which can also be used for demo items.... Thanks again!!!
-
I knew that my dear Captain!! Just very surprised at the look!!! And I agree, she is without a doubt irreplaceable and that would be a very nice gesture!!
-
Red Sea Trade.... you rock! LMAO! What a perfect analogy for a hat!!!
-
Very sharp!!! I personally already have off for next year!!! Now I just have to work out Pike River and have two full weeks for the black flag!!! BTW: Who is that sultry vixen by the tent on the last pic???? No not you Mad Dog!!! I said "SULTRY" not..... Oh never mind!!! Rats

Tavern to PIP??? Dear Captain, I plan to bring and do as little as possible. If your about, drop me a call since I'm home working on more benches...
-
OK here's is where the photographer side of ol' Rats begs folks to share their favorite images from PIPs gone by. I figure if we can consolidate images in one place it would be easier for folks to see the good sh-tuff and it might even convince others to make the trip. I also remember seeing a video or two which I probably couldn't find if my life depended on it.... SO let's see what you have!! Only a couple months away!!!!

Where are the priveys to be located within the fort? Also if anyone has any good pics from the past events and can show where on the map they were taken, it might be easier to picture what we have to work with!! And if I'm right, there will be firing from the fort at the Wolf?? And a land battle? If so where?? And most importantly........ is it bad form to simply sleep in the pub, under one of the tappers so as not to waste any grog??? And what about simply pulling up a corner under one of the archs/ casements or on a battlement???
-
I wouldn't know where to start on that one.... Let's see if Cheeky or Chole might want to chime in? I say this because it seems the ladies have much more responsibility where clothing is concerned.

You have no idea how cold that water was lying there, as the waves washed up where you really didn't want it!!! Talk about feeling like a sugar cookie!!! Luckily, slops shake off and dry pretty easy...Which is a good argument for having an extra pair while one dries!!!! Actually one of my most favorite parts of the weekend was after everyone crashed out on Saturday night.... With the storm brewing, I threw my new long coat on, grabbed my lantern and blade, then took a walk to the water's edge. When I got to the beach, the sound of the wind and the waves were booming, and in the darkness it became difficult to gauge where the waves were actually washing up to.... Needless to say, that being there alone as the elements seemed to clash around me was a very memorable experience! Which is probably what made me want to capture some of that feeling with the pics on the beach. Hope it worked! Rats

I would personally love to see a diagram/ sketch or pics of the area we will be in of the fort and the location of the pub, showers and all that Sh-tuff. Especially if we are bringing in the kitchen sink and everything. It would help us plan what we need and it's only a few months away!!!! Rats

What about treasure and chests and such???? .....maybe I need to rethink my career or should I say careening choice!!!!
