You need an engine? I thought you had sweeps?
-
Now maybe I will sleep better. This is great news indeed.

First of all by the time I am done with this you all will think I am cracked. That said, Now I have been to government education classes in my past. I have found that I have a real nack for them. People on the whole are easily manipulated. Others believe that the sky is green no matter what proof you give them. I have found a few basic (what I believe are) truths about politics. A polititions first goal is to make his area of influance a better place. The second goal is to get reelected to be able to continue making his area better. Now there will always be people that believe that no matter how good something is that the job could be done better. It is not a matter of political parties, it is a matter of human nature. We as the masses say that the two parties are corrupt. Yet we do not run for the positions. Only a fraction of people ever vote. We are the cause of the goverenment as it is. Untill we as the masses CARE about our future we will stay as is. Now you say "But Johnny, I do care. What can I do about the status quo?" I will ask you, "How much time do you send researching your politicions? How many sources do you use? So you know how your local elected officals are voting?" Yes it is a full time job. Do we as the masses have the time for such an endevor? Some do, most don't. Think on these things. Get back to me. I will welcome any response and try to reply. I have found one thing that I will leave you with. Most people are conserned with one thing "Am I happy with the quality of my life right now?"

Well I hope that they are volunteers. Just tell the USCG to chill or lend a hand their choice. I wait for good news.

I can't describe this feeling that I have been having since I heard about this. I know that I know nothing about underwater salvage, I don't even know how to SUBA, but I still want to grab some line, spades, and what not and go down their and lend a hand. I know that I would not be any help and that troubles me. So here I sit and just read about others in trouble that I can't help again. I am glad that everyone is well. I know that we at the pub will be ready to lend a hand how ever we can. Sailors are family no matter where we are.

Any ideas as to how we can help? I would hate to see it left, never to sail again.
-
Oh come on now don't tease me like that. I am hornier than a goat most times (other times I am worse). I was being serious. Jeans and tennis shoes would just not make that outfit shine.
-
I for one would like to see what you would wear with it?
-
I will be there with some period navigational aids. Ok so I still have to make the nav aids. But I plan on getting them done. This along with building my sailboat I think I will have a problem with getting clothes done. Oh well nothing is perfect right? I am only 20 mins north of Port so I will be there all three days.
-
Ok Morgan I will give you that point I did like the line that said that the sailmaker had better not be at the bottom or the guy would not get any farther.
-
I am in Kohler, WI. I am just 15 min away Lake Michigan. Just an hour North of Milwaukee. I also got plenty of good sized lakes to learn how to sail on before I try the big pond.

I am really supprised at the splinter myth getting busted. I thought for sure that one would prove out. The eye patch one I liked also. I knew that one to be real. I doubt that anyone would wear a patch all the time just for a few minutes of fighting. That said though just how long would it take to engage an enemy after being sighted? Long enough to make it worth while? Also remember that your flash pan would take care of your night vision real quick. I just don't believe the falling down the sail myth at all. I mean a person weighs over 150 lbs and to support that much with the strength of your wrists, come on. And what self respecting pirate would use rum to wash cloths, I would drink it.

Let me get started on learning how to shipwrit on this one first. I am also looking at making my own sail so I have a lot to do this summer. Just how close to a good sized lake do you live?
-
Is it just me or does their look like a cabin up front. I also wonder what her draft would be.
-
My I love that write up. I could so see building that. I wonder how I would up size it?
-
Thx for the repost. I was really hoping that you would do that. I wish that the plans didn't cost $99 right of the bat. I will look closer at the site and decide on it or not. Right now I am thinking about doing a 30' with a cabin. Looking for plans for something like that. I am hopping to sail it in the Chicago to Macinaw race. I know that I am a little on the eccentric side here but I am having fun. So what is the harm?
-
Ok you all that are interested. I have had requests on the plans that I am using to build my first sailboat. This is the site that I am using Sailboat Plans

Check out the thread I am remaking. "An Adventure in Shipbuilding" in Beyond Pyracy.

Well as you all know (or should by now) I am in the process of building my own sailboat. Next month I get to start buying lumber. I all ready have all the ribs laid out. So I am ready to start cutting. Any one want to come over and help?
-
I will have to check it out myself.
-
So did they look different with thier clothes on.
-
I hope to go. I am allready planning on it.
-
That sounds like great news. I wish ye luck. Are you still independent or are you under writ now?
-
Oh that is uncommonly good.

What no sailors palm? I love it. Did you buy them or make them?
