Hallo! I would use the denatured alcohol and shellac. I believe shellac is what is used in the "Hat Stiffener". Just keep in mind that the blank can shrink on you when you soak the felt. I had to keep wearing mine, with protection of course, to keep it from getting to small. Then I would steam it and stretch it back out to fit better. If you use a lot of shellac the felt will get hard, almost plastic like. I didn't mind that, I wanted to give a little weather proofing. I've now started use a new method when shaping my blanks. I fill a cooking sheet with water and stick it in the oven. Turn the oven on high and get the water boiling. Once the water is boiling and your getting some steam, put your hat in the oven. Give a about 10 -30 seconds in the oven. Pull out your hat and shape it the way you want to and put it on your head. (Otherwise it will shrink on you and require more steaming.) I usually have a pot or tea kettle boiling. Standing by so you can do touch ups. The oven trick is really good for general shaping. i.e. Like creating the roll on the back of the tricorn, ala Jack Sparrow style. Once you have the general shape down use the stove top pot to do your final touches and sizing it to your head. Just keep in mind the oven trick, if used to size the blank to your head, may mis-shape the rest of the brim when "cocked" up. So thats about all I can say. Let me know if you have any specific question. I'll try to answer them.

“Aye Sir!” I replied with the up most respect. I could see that Mister Badger was disturbed by the Capt’n William’s decision and who wouldn’t in this situation. Well sailors were a gruff and hard by nature. The sea, it does that you. Gathering what little I had I realized I would have to win over this man. Knowing I would have to prove myself the whole way. “But I’ve done that already” I thought. “You have your things yet, boy?” from the perturbed man above. “Well you’ve got no choice in the matter mate.” I says to myself. I appeared a moment after the reprieve. “I’m ready sir, my apologies.” Then we made our way abaft.
-
I leaned back, almost stepped back in surprise. Couldn't believe me own ears. I looked to mister Badger, then back to the capt'n. "Thank you sir. Much appreciated." "Thank you." I said I as I shook the Capt'n's hand. "Mister Badger, lead the way mate!" I said as I turned and followed the man.

“Ropes, well now.” I replied. I’ve been studying the Capt’n since I’ve been on board. With the latest events that have happened. The shootin aboard the Heron, ahh I mean Lucy or so I’ve heard from the other men on board. “Tis a bad thing to change a name like that.” I thought, well I haven’t seen go well. I have been able observe the ship and the way the Capt’n runs her. His eyes told me much. A very calculating man, almost as if every move was a chess move. I could see him measuring up everyone. I’m sure my interview in the prison wasn’t the best but I had to keep quiet there. “Well sir, I’ve been at sea for good long time sir. Grabbed I was in port royal some time ago. ‘Bout when I was oh, nine or ten.” “Saved me capt’n’s life I once did.” “But you asked ‘bout the ropes. Aye I know them know like I should, being out here so long in all.” “I’ve done a couple repairs to you larboard shrouds, near the deadeyes. Some of the whippin was coming lose.” "Felt good it did to get some hemp back me hands." “Besides I’ve been looking at your main course yard, when I was running up the rigging yesterday seemed to me, that the starboard brace needed some attention.” “I didn’t mention it to no one, cause I haven’t had the chance to look it over again.” "Heck I was the Bosun's mate on me last ship before, well..."

Gazing out to sea, thinking about nothing in particular, I noticed the Capt'n come out of the Ward Room. I drew in a breath of fresh air. "Much better than that prison." I thought. "Mister Roberts. A word if you please." said the Captain. "Aye sir" I replied. Maybe we shall have a nice chat thought I. I stepped over to see what might come.

Now Capt'n who might that be for? (I wonder )

Jack Roberts replied to Captain Pogue's topic in Captain Twill
A good start is; Shift (Chimese) Petticote (preferably 2 or more, one inner and one outer. The outer one can be a nice fabric, the inner can be just plain white) Stays (the period version of a corset) Mantua To be a higher class just use nicer fabric, add trains to the petticotes and mantua. Add frilly trim to the shift. Things like that. Thats start. Have fun! -
Chill? HA, I wish. We did have an early morning where it down poured pretty good. 2 years so far and its been pretty warm. Although this year was slightly cooler than last. Even if it was by a few degrees.

Thanks for the complement Mission. I could do that, but I certainly hope someone else does all the filming next year. Dang it I want to play.

Merry Christmas everyone! Well I was sifting through the Costumers Manifesto and came across this picture. Now look closely at the sides of the stockings, what is line and the diamond thingy? Is that a seam of some sort? Just happened to notice it and wanted to see the experts have to say.

Will thats a lot of work. I couldn't even tell they've been touched.
-
Mister Aluitious d'Dogge would we be able to get a copy of that for our video? I know we couldn't use it off the web. I ask you see because we had camera issues and missed Will's jump and the Capt'n's. So if we could get their footage that help tremendously. Just let me know. Although you probably won't do me any favors anytime soon.
-
But I believe the Capt'n retort was, that in said passing of pieces would be his final revenge.
-
Well we all saw his "solution" for Will, when he was in chains.
