  1. this has me thinking. I was checking out: http://www.militaryheritage.com/pistol4.htm and it says on the bottom: As with all our other flintlocks, the vent is not drilled so we can ship easily to our door throughout North America and to Europe and the UK. Aside from that they are exactly like the originals. A fine addition to any collection. ... Non-Firing State We sell historically accurate muskets in a non-firing state. A certified gunsmith may alter these pistols to a firing state by drilling the vent hole and test firing it. PLEASE NOTE: Pistols are considered restricted weapons in Canada and in a number of other countries. Please consult with local authorities before making or converting any replica pistol into a firing state. We are not legally responsible for any alteration from its present state, nor any infractions of the law by the owner. So, am I to understand, that if i bought this, and found a gun smith to drill this vent, then I could fire it?
  2. I found some wooden dice and replica coins real cheap at Koroneburg the other weekend. You can also buy some authentic antique bone dice off ebay.. where you can also find bags of coins. As for the cup, we bought these wooden african cups at Cost Plus and then went crazy on them, taking the handles off and then applying leather or stain...
  3. If it is supposed to have the orange tip to be legally sold in California, then how come they don't at faire? I think it's a stupid law, but one I can understand why. I know they have them on if you purchase it off Ebay, it seems to be a part of their rules.
  4. reminds me of a joke: God was just about done creating man, but he had two things left over in his bag and He couldn't quite decide how to split them between Adam and Eve. He thought He might just as well ask them. He told them one of the things He had left was a thing that would allow the owner to pee while standing up. "It's a very handy thing," God told them, "and I was wondering if either one of you had a preference for it." Well, Adam jumped up and down and begged, "Oh, please give that to me! I'd love to be able to do that! It seems like just the sort of thing a man should have. Please! Pleeease! Give it to me!" On and on he went like an excited little boy. Eve just smiled and told God that if Adam really wanted it so badly, he could have it. So God gave Adam the thing that allowed him to pee standing up. Adam was so excited he just started peeing all over the place... first on the side of a rock, then he wrote his name in the sand, and then he tried to see if he could hit a stump ten feet away - laughing with delight all the while. God and Eve watched him with amusement and then God said to Eve, "Well,I guess you're kind of stuck with the last thing I have left. "What's it called?" asked Eve. "Multiple orgasms", said God.

  10. Great movie. Yes Angels and Demons (the book) was better than the book of Da Vinci, however the greatest news I heard was A&D was going to be made into a movie. Yeah!!
  11. If you have a mac, open up Safari. Go into Preferences. And in General you can select your default browser. That should work.
  12. so, wait. If i went down to home depot and bought ALOT of wood. And then put said wood together in the form of, say a pirate ship, I wouldn't be allowed to sail her? and how much wood would I need? I'm just sayin, you know. I bought a piece here and there... it'd take a while, but rome wasn't built in a day and all that.
  13. how hard was it to get published? I'm currently working on a novel of my own. It is pirate based, of course, but not quite like all the other ones out there. However, I am in the midst of researching and constantly redoing my outlines, and making slow progress on my rough draft. I think it'll be a great tale, but I was curious on how hard it was to get it moving? any advice or help would be appreciated.
  14. any sat or sunday that petee goes, i should be able to make. except if there is anything on apr 16
  15. i just realized my initials here were SPC, which is ironic, since i was a SPC-4, when i got outta the service.
  16. wow, all the debates on the inaccuracy of boots, yet no discussion on the mass discrepencies in this film? Even I know some of it's not portrayed well. I did enjoy the film, but especially like the final killing scene, didn't he get killed by decapitation? the story I once read was that a man knicked him in the neck with a sword, he stated it wasn't a good shot and the man sliced his head off... just saying..besides, those were some nice bucket boots.
  17. I still will be gettin' my boots, however, due to an unfortunate accident I experienced with an undocumented immigrant who is breaking the law (read: that makes it illegal) by living in a place he doesn't have the legal right to do so, because he's too lazy to do it the proper way, which means he drives on the streets illegally, without insurance (can you tell I'm still not happy about the incident). anyways, it has put me a bit behind on having "disposable income" and since I've also decided to quit my weekend job, freeing me to do freelance work that hasn't come yet, The boots are on hold. I'll probly be borrowing petee's boots/shoes until I can, which shouldn't be tooo long. ANd then I 'll post 'em here.
  18. the fact of an asian pirate, was a point. The typical (common) pirate was a white male. The discussion was of whether it was 'common' for a pirate to wear boots. What I was trying to bring up was the uncommon aspects that we bring up and that happen at faire...
  19. especially to Kass, a question. Your motto is don't make the rare common, or make the common rare, correct? Okay. Now, we do know that boots were invented before the GaoP, correct? good. People, even those of the seafaring sort wore boots, correct? Okay, now let me ask you... how many female pirates were there? how many asian pirates?? How many black captains? ... You authentics have opened up a debate of stating that to represent the GaoP you havta represent what was common, however, the percentage of pirates to the populace, I believe were not as common as they are at faire. and to believe any pirates didn't wear boots, is false, as we do know some did... which brings me to my point... if we are to follow the logic of common and rare, we have serious problems... kids were not pirates, women (except for 2) were not pirates, etc... just a point to ponder, so, Kass, do you go as a pirate, or as a wench... because I know of only two women pirates.
  20. I did not mean to hurt your feelings, in fact I think it looks great, I want one, now.
  21. I do like the one you're building. It looks pretty. is it just for looks, or are you planning on making it fireable? at least make a bang?
  22. in that second picture, look at the base of the round. You will see little yellow things. Those are the "cheese", plus there is a doughnut, which is a sack of gunpowder.
