  1. Very inpressive! The mood is most fitting. No pyratical decor should be equipp'd without the model ship. BTW, what is that? It looks like a pre-Trafalgar era vessel.
  2. "here we go again, scrape scrape screech screech, it's never a tune you could dance to.....as if they were drunk as Davey's sow". (favorite quote in the movie)
  3. Alright...fixed!
  4. My old hometown (old..as in established 1680), once again put on it's finest show ever! The oldest 4th July parade in the United States, which dates back to 1785 to celebrate independence from the Mother country. and naturally, the pirates once again plundered this Atlantic seaport in full fashion: No parade is complete without Captain Jack Sparrow, we had at least two: This boat sailed singlehandedly from bristol to New Zealand to Cape Horn back to Bristol in 400 days, now that's a hearty soul! Some friends of family invited us to their cookout at their 1847-built house complete with pirate/tiki bar, how cool is that!!: The ifreworks on the harbor the night before:
  5. Just a couple more from the digital, Hopefully the good stuff will come out on the 35mm when I develop it. BTW, The Black Pearl had the name long before Disney ever grabbed the name.
  6. Well, I have so little time here at work today after returning to New Jersey from R.I.. Just an absolutely super fantastic time all around. This is what Rhode Island is all about. I shot up about 4 rolls of 36 exp, on the Pentax 35mm film, but I also used my canon SD500, heres a half dozen to start with. I promise to unload the rest when I can get to 'em.
  7. And natalie portman as a go-go girl ghost:
  8. ....reminds me when I used to tell people "I dreamed I was eating a giant creme-filled donut, then I woke up and my pillow was gone".
  9. Time to commandeer Sea Mist (my dad's 37) in the middle of the nightand tack down to tampa. Odd timing for treasure find, d'ya think?......I suspect the Disney suits had a hand in this.
  10. Capt. Sterling wrote: That's because all the surfbirds and tourists go home after Labor day weekend and the city becomes a bit of a ghost town. The town is mobbed during the summer months. I'm gonna have to venture around Newport and Bristol on my mountain bike during Tall Ships weekend and 4th July and get some great shots for the lot 'o ya. I'm plannin' on doin' a small series called "widow's walk", which is essentially a small tower-like roof that many historic houses near the harbor have. Basically the wives of sea captains would walk up on the "widow's walk" to see (and pine) if their husbands' ships were to arrive.......an odd and sadly yet romantic feature of some of these houses.
  11. Please give credit to hester for putting this link in the Cornish Sea Shanites post:
  12. ^hasn't yet established an alter ego like some on this board. At least Dex posts some breathtaking photos.
  13. Once I saw the britcom show "Couplings", then I understood Jack Davenport much better, even developed much more respect for him. Now he seems even a witty compliment to other actors like Lee Arenberg. I've seen Mackenzie Crook on tv, but I still can't stand Ricky Gervais (he reminds me of too many people I know). I had a tough time accepting the new anti-hero Lord Cutler Beckett in DMC but now he's growing on me.
  14. ^Red-Handed Jill wrote You know I was a recording sessionist for the Muzak Corporation before I turned pyrate. Nothing beats playing the triangle for Carpenters'covers. <I'm practicing reciting my alphabet backwards just in case I get pulled over by the police.....hasn't happened yet but you knever know. V What meal is your favorite to cook?
  15. QUOTE (Hester @ May 10 2007, 12:32 AM) Bugger! The photos disappeared before I saw them! Same here Problem Fixed! Hester, HildeKitten, Thanks for pointing it out...glad that someone was watching. I had deleted some photos from my photosource to make room, and I accidentally deleted the ones on this post. Now they are restored.
  16. I am very well-behaved, churchlike, and I keep my hands to myself.
  17. ^ Destiny....don't know her. Giselle & Scarlett, maybe. < never run in a dark room. VDid you brush your teeth this morning? I am your mother.
  18. Here are some more photos I took of the same day in Newport. For those who are are not familiar with coastal New England, these houses are standard fare, however Newport is a bit more like Nantucket or Key West, and only more so because it is on an island. It was a pyratical outpost back in the GAOP, mainly because of it's relative isolation and you needed a boat to get to it. This is the hometown of Thomas Tew, when he was not plundering Madagascar, and a stopover for Kidd, Bellamy, Fly, Rogers, Bart Roberts, and countless more. Houses here are big big $$, and I would kill for one of these. It's one thing to dress pirate....it's another thing to roam the very places they did. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Tew And this is the essence of Newport:
  19. ^Woodworking, fiberglass, drawing, Adobe photoshop/illustrator....all as profession. ....and falling off rooves and breaking bones. I lived to tell about it. < I do not, under any circumstances , watch American Idol. I have a sailing friend, and former rock&roll bandmate friend rave about the show. I am wilking to miss out on it at all costs. My penchant for CNN Lou Dobbs and CSI is about as much television as I can accept. Oh, yeah, Mad TV...that's it. V do you have any ghost stories? I have only one. That is renting an apartment in Massachusetts , first floor of an owner-occupied 1820 home where the owner's mother passed away and afterwards, I would constantly hear footsteps and feel touching when no one was home. You could put me in the battlefield of Gettysburg at night and I wouldn't notice a thing. This house was F'ing freaky....I spent hours trying to figure out what was going on. Then I bought a house (circa 1937) that has no paranormal activity whatsoever....very boring.

  21. I walked Manhattan to day from Central Park to Chambers st. near Ground Zero. Everything is S3, every where you look in every direction, bilboards, posters, hats, t-shirts ( I even saw young hiphoppers wearing rhinestone T's with the spiderman mask). There is no escape. on the other hand POTC-AWE marketing is verrrrrrry subtle. That, my dear friends is a good sign. I get the impression that AWE is going to be verrrry good indeed.

We can't get this stuff in America....because of the trade embargo against anything imported from Cuba into the US. Anything in the US called Havana Club is not from Cuba.
