Ahoy mates! I was sitting here wondering how many of you have your own personal Jolly Rogers, and if so, would you share them here with us? I am trying to compile as much info on our members as I can, and I thought it would be fun to see something like that. I was also thinking it might be neat to have a t-shirt design made with all of our flags on the back, and maybe the Order logo on the front at the left breast...similar to the t-shirts you see out there with the historical pirate flags such as Blackbeard's, Thomas Tew's, etc. What do you all think? To start this off, here is my own personal flag:

Well I mean, seriously? If we change the name, what will be next? To change the name "Devil's Dozen" because it is associated with the devil? Mates, we all had friends and family come from all over the United States to see us inducted into this Order, and I am not aware of anyone yet complaining about the name. Mention the name Order of Leviathan or Devil's Dozen to any of our pirate peers and what do you think they will think of? I would dare say that they would think of us, not some crackpot satanists. Our peers think of us by that name, and isn't that what is most important anyway? The name is already in place, has been advertised and promoted by Pirates Magazine, the rings have been made, excellent t-shirts have been made...I just don't think to change it to something else would do it for me. I wasn't voted into the Order of Larry, Order of Legend, the Brethren of Mermaids, or any other such, I was voted into the Order of Leviathan, and I am proud of that. It is a badge of honor for me. We were all voted into the Order of Leviathan because people thought that we represent the best of the best. Let's prove to them that they were right. It would diminish it in my eyes if we changed our name. We're pirates! Let's do as Sterling says and take it and make it something good! Then we have taken the victory away from evil in the first place...

Two of my favorite charities are St. Jude's for children, and perhaps the American Cancer Society. I love children and can hardly bear to see them suffer, and I have lost many members of my family and friends to cancer, so that is particularly personal for me. Cancer is a dread enemy, and anything I can do to help battle it, I will!

My vote is to keep the name we already have and make it our own. It is already established, it sounds great, and for me at least, it does indeed invoke images of sea monsters in my mind. I had no earthly idea there was even any other organization by that name. Could Pirates Magazine not obtain a legal trademark for the name, and then no other group could use it legally? I think Braze's idea for perhaps setting up a website or page with our purpose and activities clearly stated is an excellent idea, and would fend off any negative connotations. I believe that the Order of Leviathan belongs to us and Pirates Magazine alone.

I suspect that whoever came up with the name had no intentions of associating it with the satanic cult. Our symbol is a sea serpent wrapped around the skull, and as long as the name is representative (and I think it is) of a sea monster, I have no problem with it. It would be nice for our Order to take the fame of the name away from the cult so that everyone would always associate the name with something good rather than something negative.

My ship? A black brigantine named Revenant. I think it is particularly fitting of me and my crew, as a revenant is one which has returned from the dead...

Ye make good points here mate ye surly do, we will make the best of it! In this case we trade weapons for ships. We have both the Pride of Baltimore and the Bounty on dock and sea. This be an event of honor and celebration of top pirates in our community and for that I'll put down my weapons. I will however consider your recommendation of Charleston for next Years honoring the Devil's Dozen into the Order of Leviathan. I think that Charleston, SC would be an excellent choice for next year's Devil's Dozen event. It is certainly a city rich in pirate and maritime history!

Aye, as naked as I will feel without my weapons, I will lay them down for the sake of this fine event. If we may have them in certain areas for photos and such, I can live with that. Just the honor of being in the company of all of you fine friends will make it all worthwhile to me.

I think it would be very nice to see a pirate in such traditional, ethnic garb. I am not familiar with the historical styles of that area, but if indeed the styles that you have enquired about were worn in the early 1700's, I think it would be plausible. I would welcome such a pirate aboard my ship as a free brother of the sea.

Matt, I am particularly enamored with the sword shown in your signature banner. Can you tell us a bit more about it? Is it a cuttoe or hunting sword by chance? While I think that some of the fancier blades such as the clamshells and such are extremely beautiful works of art, I am personally more drawn to the simpler, utilitarian weapons. My current sword is a simple hand forged hanger of the American colonial style...

Indeed, a couple of members of my crew may well be interested. I have passed this along to them.

Ahoy Badger, I appreciate your interest in my boxes, mate, but I am out of the business now, as it were. I am currently finishing up two outstanding orders for two gentlemen and then I am retired from them. That being said, however, please allow me to recommend Mr. Michael Bagley to you. He can fill your order for the two cartridge boxes, and his work is every bit as good, if not better than my own.

Excellent work, Mr. Cross, excellent indeed! Just wondering what the diameter on these types of buttons are, generally speaking?

Haven't tried it yet, but it sure looks neat! I have tried plumbing solder to cast metal toy soldiers; it works like a charm. Best wishes on your surgery, I hope you will soon be recovered and casting buttons by the thousands!
