  1. Cannon, drunk on watch again?? It's sixes for you, til next week.
  2. Come, come, now who could mistake those womanly hips for a mans! Not that I think she's attractive, I mean look at the expressionless face and the easy way she holds that cuttoe! She might as well be slicing up a piece of salt horse.
  3. LOL, Hey I like this.. good idea. Spirketing - The planking from the waterways up to the port sills on a vessel with gun ports.
  4. Bloody red Hell and Death, Mr. Cannon, your flag shows up in some surprising places.Would not the crew of the Hellion be better served if you could get your bloody gun crews to coil thier tackle falls in a more orderly manner or perhaps learn to fire as one? God's m'faith, you have too much time on ye hands.
  5. The Brigands are very pleased to announce that we have been asked to perform for the Salem Pirate Faire in Salem Mass , Sept 16 and 17. The Faire is a production fof Pastimes, who are noted for thier superbly developed story lines in the other Renne faires they produce. We will be playin', singin' and shootin off cannons! For more info on the faire: http://www.pastimes1.com/pirate.html
  6. Avast ye Mermaid, I have it on good authority that some of the crew from the Clipper City tall ship and her attendant pirate group will be coming! With Capt Morgan sponsoring this feast, it may prove to be the topper to the last one!
  7. Mr. Flynt, thankee kindly! It is my oversight entirely, sir, that we have not said what a tremendous pleasure it was to work with ye at Hampton this year! Heres to next years festival and the year after!
  8. The corporate offices be in Stamford Ct. on a spit o' land in the Sound. Corsair, if'n ye be free on Aug 18, I could use a good hand at the Pirates of the Cheasapeake party. Not performin mind ye, but with the cannon and un-stowing and stowing the hold of the Hellion. E-mails me if ye be interested.
  9. Like the majority said, 'locks are not considered firearms. IF you want to test out a supposition regarding them and the law, substitute the word firearm with the word bananna. If it doesnt make sense then your 'lock is not covered under that statute. Example: Carrying a loded firearm in a vehicle is illegal Carrying a loaded bananna in a vehicle is illegal. See? Under ATF regs, muzzle loading antiques OR replicas are not considered firearms. I always knew it, but when importing a bronze half scale cannon from Old Limey, I had the opportunity to speak with several division chiefs in the BATF on this point. I was able to convince the Customs agent that the 'cannon' listed on the shipping manifest was not a firearm, and that was post 9/11 in the port of New Jersey. Is it SMART to carry a loaded 'lock other then right before you intend to fire it? Well there were bold pirates, and old pirates but very few old, bold and STUPID pirates.
  10. Aye, Winston lad, if'n ye could make it, we be woefully short o' the sort o' man who can run his gun out, point his gun in anything other than 'as she lies' and then touch powder to send a ball down someones throat. Be ye that sort o' man?
  11. Robert Thighbiter, born in 1705 in St Michaelschurch, outside of Perth, son of Rebbeca and John Thighbiter, was the sailing master on HMS Hellion. The Hellion was a privateer, with letters of marque against the French and Spanish navies. He shipped with his young son , who perished in a pitched battle with the French Man of War, Terrible', shot by French grenadiers commanded by Capt Louie Frommage. His taunting laugh troubles Thighbiter's dreams nightly. After the death of his son, Thighbiter grew morose and sought solace in playing upon his fiddle, his only prize possesion. The captian of the Hellion, John Mowett, forbade the playing of music on His Majesty's ship, and Thighbiter fomented rebelion amongst the crew, who joined him in mutiny. The Hellions crew now sails on account, seeking out plunder and existance. As a reminder of his son, Thighbiter leads the crew nightly in playing music on the forecastle after 6 bells of the evening watch. Upon landing in port, Thighbiter will always seek out his sworn enemy, and can be heard to shout " Frommage! Frommage! Where can I find Frommage?". Alas, he is always lead to a cheese shop.

  16. The Hellion was His Majestys ship, a two mast weatherly bark Commanded by John Mowett, a man both stern and dark With letters in hand to haras the French, she sailed the Spanish main By the grace of God to sail from the Yard and then sail back again. Now who were the crew of the Hellion, the ones who made her sail? There were Sailing Master Thighbiter to see the winds not fail Firstmate Bloody Bill Marley, and Butch Cannon, of the gunners crew But the Sailing Masters failing was he shipped his son too chorus[ And Up Sailed The Hellion, with her cannon blazing wide Boarding party in the forchains, and lining the weather side Hoisting up the mainsail, on the starboard tack she lies Make 'em strike thier colors lads, make 'em strike or die] And the blood was spilled from many a ship, many a prize they took but never a copper for the common hand, never on the gold they looked In a chest of iron it was locked , on the orlop deck it be For the good of the Crown they might drown, to serve his Majesty chorus Was off the coast Tortuga, in May of fourty four The Man-O-War, Terrible' sailed to settle up the score A French thirty two, with three hundered souls that stood before the mast with a hard order from Le' Govenor to sink the Hellion fast Le Capitan' Fromage spied the Hellion with his glass and He clewed up his fors'le to make his broadside pass They fired their guns at a biscuit toss away from Hellions side Was in the fray as they pulled away, the Master's son did die chorus Now the Hellion had the weather gage and was able to escape Mowett bade the crew to leave the dead, for repairs they had to make No service for the Master's son, which it nearly broke his heart Gave twenty two lashes to the crew, and the mutiny did start Was late that night in the officers mess, the crew all did decide and Capitan Mowet was given a Jonah's lift RIGHT o'r the side now the Hellion sails on, a pirate ship, forever more to be She lives on in this song for all eternity chorus 2 x
  17. i just imported a bronze cannon ( nice one too at 32" long and 1-5/8" bore). It came thru Customs and believe me, it was ARDUOS. THe inspector saw cannon on the manifest and went out of his mind. I spent the entire DAY on the phone with 4 different divisions of BATF and I think I know the laws by heart now. Muzzleloading black powder flintlocks are not considered firearms or weapons under the federal laws. Period. More in the line of a toy, so for all those who were saying , ' concealed weapons', replace the word weapon with toy and see if that makes sense. Of course local laws and statutes would apply, but for the most part, making a LEO aware that you know the federal laws on this point will usually ease thier mind. By far the vast majority of people have no idea when it comes to such a narrow area of interest. It would be a painstaking municipality indeed to have written laws on this topic, it is so narrow.
  18. Hmmmmm... a truely unsolicited gesture and then nary a word in response? Lads, me thinks it be the govenor of this 'ere shire, tryin ta catch us all unguarded. Instead of a movie we be watchin, it'll be the tops o our shoes dangling below, more's the like of it. What say ye, lads? Bloody Bill: Aye that be the way of it! Butch Cannon: Shoal us for sure they will !
  19. Aye Lass, I didn even know any other pirates were on the Isle of Long besides us. Please tell me more about yon raid on Natl Amusments and also the Dead Parrot Inn thingy.
  20. Don't know if this is the right folder for it, but we are really excited that The History Channel will feature The Brigands at thier corporate party on Aug 4 at History Channel Corp Headquarters. AND! we get to shoot cannon off as a part of the show...LOL, can't be a bad day if'n ye gets paid to play pirate music and fire cannon. http://thebrigands.com
  21. Well I hope we have some real pirates attending. I would hate to have to explain everything to a large group of landsmen, lubbers and nobbly shopkeepers and the like. When we read the Articles and seek out salts to join crew, we like a hearty huzzah not a dumbfounded expression! THis loks to be a lot of fun! I have to find out if we can discharge cannons from the out-door deck! Now, that will be fun!
  22. Just bumping this up. If ye have not gotten yer ticket or reservations for this and ye planned on attendin, ye might want to consider it. It makes out to be a fine time for all, with prize for costume and plenty of song and drink and shark steaks to boot. And o'course, us, The Brigands, the pirate band from New York.
  23. From all of The Brigands, we want to thank Pern, Flint, Steele, Pirate Pete and John Glass for having us down to entertain the masses. Al, Erik and Brett Mueller, The Brigands http://thebrigands.com
