  1. Ahoy, DuCouer, I ain't sure how athletic you endeavor to be, but word is around the docks that a bunch o' pirates plays somethin' strange called baseball around the Fort Pitt area. The strangest part is that spectators are eating a meat-filled tube of swine intestines filled with the lips and snouts from that same animal! Bugger me! Maybe you should steer clear of these sorts... Cheers, Captain Sage
  2. Ahoy and welcome to this fine establishment, Dave Diller (that's just your pirate name, we all know). Over 60 broth(sist)ers added to the ranks since I climbed aboard late June, a regular pirate revolution, if you will :) All this talk of skins is givin' me a rash. I'm with the Royaliste, keep it piratical as much as ye' can. I'm real ignorant of all this forum-ey stuff, but what tech improvements are needed? Cheers, Captain Sage
  3. Ahoy and welcome to this fine establishment, Bosun Jack! Over 60 broth(sist)ers added to the ranks since I climbed aboard late June, a regular pirate revolution, if you will :) All ye' new folk should visit my poll All Things Piratical and tell us if ye' feel this is truly a popular wave to be ridden. Me own site ain't too shabby for the learnin' of swabbies and such, either, and I DO say so, myself! Fair Winds, Captain Sage
  4. I could take a PhD in chemistry or civil engineering (it doesn't count as a thing, does it?). Get rich from making things only I know about. The THING I would take might be a Nomex suit for the inevitable "burn the witch at the stake" thing. Captain Sage
  5. Ahoy and welcome to this fine establishment, Bessie! 6. Ahoy and welcome to this fine establishment, Tasia, Grayse, ..hawks, ..vipers, and, and,.... 7. Ahoy and welcome, Tasia, The movie is as good a reason as any to turn piratey. Teaching your horse to swing a cutlass could be tough, though. Cheers, Captain Sage
  8. Avast, ye' hearties! Tis' been another year in the sweet trade, another cruise on the Pirate Round. I'm taking me vacation on the Carolina Coast this week with me fine pirate wife and pirate daughter, terrorizing the locals. I'll be a bit busy in me cabin with the new POTC computer game I got after bein' taken to see the movie for free yesterday, so leave your gold, silver, stones, and baubles outside me cabin door. "Welcome aboard!" to the overrunning hoards of new swabbers and such, I reckon' some kinda' war is over and they've got cabin fever. (or it could be the movie ) Captain Sage PS- Check out me pirate daughter's birthday card on my website. She sure loves her Pirate Daddy!
  9. Thanks for the links! Methinks the Smokey Mtn thing fell off the end of the earth. The others do look mighty fine, and I've been to the Carolina Ren Faire a couple years now. Cheers! Captain Sage
  10. Eleven swabbers in one day and countin'.... is that a record around here? We can hardly keep up with it all to give a proper welcome. :) It's a fine lookin' trend. Cheers and welcome to all ye'. Captain Sage
  11. Frankly, Scarlet, I welcome ye to this fine establishment. You're one of many new swabbers amongst us. Why, I remember bein' a swabber like it was last week, or so it was. The banter is lively and the topics are many. Enjoy yourself! Cheers to all our new partners in the sweet trade... Captain Sage
  12. Great Pics! Alas, ours is a class society... but you won't see any of us pirates weeping for the media types what don't have any! Captain Sage
  13. My test results came back positive for the pirate bug. The name is a dud, though, Black Harry Read.... sounds like something from the swamp. How about Big Fat Ugly Bug-faced Baby-eating O'Brien? Now that's a classic. Captain Sage
  14. If anyone sees a Thank You note runnin' loose around here, it's mine. I posted one right here, but it's gone. Here's another like the first: Wow! That was fast. You even included a MIDI link. Much Obliged, Captain Sage
  15. Seriously, mates, I'm danglin' by this here message thread all by me lonesome. Are ye' tryin' to hide this festival from me? Lots of views, but no news. Hello, Hello? Is this thing on? Captain Sage
  16. Aye, 'twould seem the corset/ Singapore reference is to the industry of ill-repute which is legal there, almost an institution for many, many years. What more can be said, but that I'm glad you didn't understand, and I only do from what I've heard. 'Nuff said, Captain Sage
  17. 20,000 leagues inder the sea ain't exactly pirate material, BUT there is a lot of water and plunder and sea monster goins on... Anywho, there is song sung by Kirk Douglas' character Ned Land with a turtle-shell banjo and a barking seal, I think it's called Whale of a Tale. They even worked the tune into the score! Even though Ned sings this ditty about 87 times in the movie, I can't remember the middle part of the lyrics. Sure, I could look it up online, but I thought it would be more fun to ask me associates to provide the missin' words. Here goes: Got a whale of a tale to tell ya', lads, a whale of tale or two, 'bout a.... (da da dee dee da da doo, etc.)insert correct words here .. a whale of a tale, and it's all true. I swear by my tatoo! Thank Ya very much. I'll be here all week. Captain Sage
  18. Neato! I mean, ARRRRR! That Jamaica Rose was kind enough to stuff my email box with backissues even, to get me up to speed (especially on the POTC). Maybe she & the hubby could get some kinda' Medal of Piratical Valour for all their hard work. Captain Sage
  19. Dearest Iron, Twere only funnin' is all. What I could have said was "lively and knowledgeable conversationalist in all matters piratical", but "live round" has a nice ring to it. :) ....easier to spell, too! Captain Sage
  20. Good stuff, Captain Cat! I plan on taking the Pirate Walking Tour in Charleston next week. Having lived there awhile, I'll find out for certain if it compares to the other tours. Check out the site at http://piratesofcharleston.com/ The guide Mike Brown also has a great book. As for Pirates of the Carolinas at Myrtle Beach, I've been there several times. It's pretty cool, with an arcade and the interactive ride thing. The ride is like a small Pirates of the Caribbean where you can shoot targets for prizes. The gift shop is usually well-stocked for its size. As for the 'smorgasbord', that's a little Pizza Hut franchise inside. The food has been hit and miss in quality, but overall it's OK. Here's a coupon for anyone compliments of Captain Sage. ---- http://www.broadwayatthebeach.com/visitor/...ns/coupon28.htm One of the things I liked best about my last visit to Broadway at the Beach was being able to look out at the workers refurbishing the pirate ship on top of the Key West Grill. The food and atmosphere there is great. Cheers! Captain Sage
  21. Jamaica, this post is too tempting! Alas, me pirate wife and pirate daughter won't let me catch the flick now so's they can have me watch it as a birthday present on the 16th. I'm tied up in me cabin and weighted with shot to keep me put. At least I can visit this fine Pub, that is until ye' spoilers blow in with yer' tales of lore. I guess you can tell your warning couldn't stop me from peeking at the mates' ballyhoo. At least I ain't a Yankee Doodle Dandy, for bein' born on the Fourth of July would not have offered me such a fine tale to see. No more posts about having seen POTC for a week, ya' hear?!
  22. Cedar Island and Swan Quarter ferries are another matter, because those trips take over 2 hours each, and they cost $15 or more. So, with the long time, not as many trips, more people for fewer ships.... and that's why they recommend reservations. Last time I heard, you could reserve up to 30 days in advance. I guess if you had reservations and got there a little late, they'd push one the unreserved cars off the front into the water to make room. Check out that ferries link for more info. If that doesn't help, let me know. I can find a number or something here in my souvenirs. Enjoy! Captain Sage
  23. Ahoy Bilgemunky! I went to the Ocracoke area in May. You must go, or Blackbeard could get peeved. Don't worry about the ferry. It runs almost constantly in the summer from Hatteras. Try these links: http://www.outerbanks.org/ http://www.roanokeisland.com/index.php?nam...nks&last=discRI http://www.visitob.com/outerbanks/amusemen...ds/amus_004.htm http://www.ncferry.org/ MOST OF ALL: Go to the Teaches' Hole Shop... http://www.teachshole.com/index.htm when (or if, I reckon)you get into the Ocracoke area, turn right off the main road at the gift shop with "Pirate" in the name (can't remember), and go through the Edward's of Ocracoke area around back of them. This shop and exhibit alone is worth the trip, not to mention the beautiful village, Silver Lake marina, lighthouse, laid-back atmosphere, and Howard's Pub. Definitely one of the greatest vacations of my life. Fair Winds, Captain Sage
  24. Thanks, Angus! Twas most helpful for the both of us.... I didn't know whether I got through @discover.net or not. Cheers, Captain Sage
  25. how's about nqgiven@discover.net found on Sailing the Cyber-Seas, under Piratical Resources? That's where I went today. Captain Sage
