  1. Ahoy! A friend of mine at Mark Burnett Productions asked me to pass on more info: "CBS and Mark Burnett Productions are currently casting a reality show which gives people the opportunity to be Pirates for a month while competing for prizes and cash! The casting director is searching for outgoing, strong-willed adventure seekers who are physically and mentally adept and adaptable to new environments. They also look for people with interesting lifestyles, jobs, backgrounds, histories and personalities. Everyone who applies should be ready to have the time of their lives! If you are interested in applying, you should be completely comfortable living on land and sea, as you will most likely be living on a combination of a boat and an island in a remote location for about 30 days. While on the adventure, you will be competing for a pot of up to $1 million dollars along with other booty and prizes! Anyone interested must be at least 21 years old and be a US citizen eligible for a US passport. If you are interested in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, please send an e-mail with some basic information about yourself (such as name, age, occupation, hometown, etc) to piratescasting@hotmail.com . Please be sure to mention you were referred by Captain Sage and Pyracy.com. With the referral, you will be able to apply directly to the Casting Director rather than blindly sending in a tape and application to CBS. This project is very time-sensitive and applications are due very quickly. If you are interested, don't hesitate in contacting piratescasting@hotmail.com as soon as possible. Remember, they are looking for people with great water skills and big personalities. Anybody who can sail, fish, row, or swim has an advantage in this competition. If you know somebody else who would be great, please feel free to pass this on to them. "
  2. gutenberg.org has tons of public domain works. You can find some older piratey things if you know how to look. There is one called The Pirates Own Book, by Charles Ellms, that I like a lot. It was first published in 1837. Yes I know, it isn't as old as Johnson's or Esquemeling's, but it does seem to have a lot of good details. Here's the link: http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/12216 Happy Reading!
  3. Lemme see... I was lookin' for good piratey sites when I was developin' me own. I thot these were my kinda' pyrates. I've had many a laugh and learned a heap, too. Huzzah!
  4. I found this article a while back and was baffled by the last illustration. It's an unusual gun-like thing. The project directors may not have asked around to research the matter too much. I have to explain the way the site is made first. It's a Geocities site made with Flash (dumb!), so the text is really a graphic (not searchable). You also have to navigate to the page in question. When you click on the link, choose Artifacts, click the animated arrow at the bottom of the page, and go to the bottom of that second page. What are your thoughts on this thing? http://www.geocities.com/aborgcr/PRoyal/proyal.html
  5. Hey mates, I'm a bit crazy around the edges, as you can see by this post. I recently made a fansite for Blenheim Ginger Ale (ever heard of it?). I know the tendency of pirates toward strong drink, so to promote my new venture, I managed to get my friend Blackbeard to do a promo of sorts: Better than Rum and Gunpowder.
  6. I once spoke to Ronald Reagan on the phone. (He had left the presidency by then.) He wanted to speak to a friend of mine whose dad was on a leadership council with him. My friend was not available, so he said, "Well, just tell him Ronnie called."
  7. My, but aren't those stop action figures realistic! I loved it. I laughed 7.2 times. Let's have a vote. Should we send it to SCA? They'd love it, too, right?
  8. Lads and lasses, this is required watchin' material. I have a letter from the king of pirates 'isself that says, "thems wot miss this flick will suffer the humdai..." What?! That's the wrong genre. Who wrote this crap? Seriously, mates, catch this if you can. Woo-Hoo!!!
  9. Ahoy mates, Go to Songs of the Sea at contemplator.com, and you can listen to a horde of shanties and other stuff.
  10. Separate injuries several years apart left me with a scar on my cheek in the shape of a cross.
  11. Well, let's see, I guess wit' my piratey websites and such and my enthusiasm for piratical history, and my pirate tee's, and repro coins and piratey books, and my Swag Shop, I'm at least 3/4 full of myself most days. PS- It's only 123 days (on 3/5) until POTC II
  12. I second the motion for second chioces! How about an entertaining educator or an educating entertainer?
  13. Hm, to wax philosofeecal.... I have always liked treasure hunting, cannons, explosions, the sea, nautical history, underwater exploration and archeology, a sense of adventure, piratey talk,... and besides, turnin' pirate was far cheaper than an education to be a lawyer! :)
  14. A kind thankee to Jim Sib! I like Pirates! Fact and Legend at: http://www.piratesinfo.com/
  15. Well, let's see... Cascabel, Blaze, and Jim Sib, fine mates all!
  16. Avast, mates, visit me new website dedicated to the "King of Pirates"- Blackbeard 'imself. Blackbeard's Realm 'Tis a work in progress, to be certain. If ye' have any Blackbeard topics you'd like to see added, drop me a line. Feel free to add me humble site to yer links, if ye' like. Fair Winds, Captain Sage
  17. Avast, mates, There's more info at: http://www.bath.nchistoricsites.org/ You can print out a schedule from there, too. Though I'm not currently a reenactor, I am a true pirate fan, and will be there with my family Fri - Sun. I hope to see you all there.
  18. Look, you gotta' believe me. My name is Captain Sage.... I am the Captain of me site, The Pirate's Realm. I could have referred to meself as Lord of my Realm, but Lord Sage sounds too Star Wars-ey, NOT that there's anything wrong with that. ....and Sage means a wise and discerning man, but many who have no sense of humor think that pretending to be a pirate is the worst way to act like a sage I googled the name and found a few Captain Sage's in history. Hows about "Darth Sage"?
  19. Ahoy, all! I'm gonna' chime in with: "'Cause it's time, it's time in time with your time and its news is captured For the queen to use. Move me on to any black square, Use me any time you want, Just remember that the goal Is for us all to capture all we want (Move me on to any black square) Yea, yea, yea." Anyone?
  20. Wow! You found my lost chest of coins! I hid it in between the Narnia (lion witch and wardrobe) stuff and the potc 1 stuff so no one would think they're genuine, and then I forgot where I hid 'em. You wouldn't mind returning them would you?
  21. I found a little program what'll convert a MIDI to sheet music. It ain't flawless, but it's pretty neat. Problem is, I know it's on me computer, but I don't recollect right now where it's at! Later... Captain Sage
  22. Picked up piano as a wee lad (it was heavy!)... many years trained on it, and a few that I enjoyed. Trumpet in high school, nerve damage in lip, escorted to baritone section, tuba for senior year. Took a real likin' to alto sax in college (jazz). got serious about guitar a few years back and learned to hit drums for kicks and giggles. Some folk say they play an instrument, and they might be able to play one song (like Heart and Soul or Chopsticks on the piano). Others like musicians may be in love with one instrument at any given time but be able to get around fairly well on others because they have a knack for picking out the basic elements of something. Ya follow? Captain Sage
  23. 'Appy Birthday, matey! Captain Sage
