Let me see... *ahem* (throat clearing for dramatic effect) Rubies are red. Sapphires are blue. I am a pirate, and if you don't prepare to be boarded, I'll slash your sails with a volley of chain, turn your hull into splinters, fill your crew with grape, board you anyway, empty your hold, find any hidden booty, keelhaul the captain, burn what's left to the waterline, and publish a book telling everyone how you screamed like a sissy as you fled in a long boat. Hang it all, I can't seem to make the last line have the right rhythm or rhyme.... Captain Sage

all ye pirates can kiss my barnicales
Captain Sage replied to bloody jack flint's topic in Scuttlebutt
How real is a pirate who is fighting other pirates and using a computer? Not sure what a barnicale is, mate... perhaps you woke up on the wrong side of the deck or you have crabs in your breeches. Maybe those truly interested in your ship are planning to take it from you. Whatever the case, here's to a kinder, gentler, Mr. pirate. Captain Sage PS- I'm somewhat handsome as a rogue and I say arrr and avast and other piratey words a lot. -
Ahoy there, pyratequeen! Welcome aboard this fine vessel. Captain Sage

Man! You fellows & fellowesses are some of the most studious, intelligent-seeming rogues I've ever read messages from! You could write your own books. :) It sure makes me look a far sight better to be found runnin' in such erudite circles. Cheers to the lot of ya'! Captain Sage

I have a wee bit of info on me own site about ducksfoot/volley pistols/multi-barreled monsters.... I read that more of the revolving multi-barreled pistols were made than those with fixed barrels, although they were more unreliable.(mostly for show, it seems) As for the ducksfoot/volley type, I've seen pictures of authentic pistol and even rifle types of the era, and volley cannons, for more fun. As for the firing mech's, most I've seen are single mech flintlocks. The one double mech, 2-barrel flintlock i saw was notorious for misfire. There's a ton of variations on this multi-fire & multi-barrel mess. I'm no expert, but here's what I offer as a small primer. Gun Info Look under Medium to Close-range Weapons Do a Google search with the term "duckfoot pistol" or "duck's foot pistol" or even "volley gun" and find enough facts to choke on. Captain Sage

Looks like I found a welcome port...
Captain Sage replied to Katie O'Sullivan's topic in Scuttlebutt
Ahoy, Katie! Let's not call it a port; the authorities may find it and charge us for our spot.... Now that ye' found us, I trust ye' won't be leavin' soon.... Yer "welcome", as it were, to not go and tell the gov'nr where it is we're hidin'. ...... Har! 'Twere only funnin'. Those lubbers are hidin' from the likes of us! Captain Sage -
..and the same from me! Hope you enjoy it to the fullest. Cheers, Captain Sage

Ahoy and welcome to this fine establishment, MadMaryFlint! Over 60 broth(sist)ers added to the ranks since I climbed aboard late June, a regular pirate revolution, if you will. All ye' new folk should visit my poll All Things Piratical and tell us if ye' feel this is truly a popular wave to be ridden. Me own site ain't too shabby for the learnin' of swabbies and such, either, and I DO say so, myself! Fair Winds, Captain Sage PS-"Blimey" started out as the oath,"May God blind me."(if what I am about to assert isn't true). Interesting, ain't it?

Pardon me, it looks like you have hijacked the thread about ME OWN BIRTHDAY. ... and I didn't find near enough gold or silver outside me cabin door to purchase this spot. My dear pirate wife bought me the POTC computer game w/o knowing my system couldn't quite handle it. In the words of one gamer, I wound up with a $50 movie ticket and a nice silver drink coaster. I MAY be willing to sell it to someone IF the offer is right, I haven't decided quite yet. E-mail me at captain@thepiratesrealm.com if you've got the mettle (and silicon). :) I may get back to you. Captain Sage PS - know your conputer's gaming capabilities, eg video RAM and etc.

Thanks, me hearties, for all the kind sentiments, and I hope the others like Royaliste and Redhand have/ had a great birthday as well. I returned from vacation on the Carolina coast yesterday. The Charleston visit will have to wait 'til Fall when I can stay overnight and take in ALL the great stuff. Georgetown proved to be a fine substitute for the history, sailing, and pirate stuff. The Jolly Rover is a 19th-century steel hull sailing ship that gives tours concentrating on the local pirate lore. I couldn't make the voyage THIS time but I got to see it up close and personal. Great Ship! Pirates of the Carolinas(Myrtle Beach) has a new virtual theater, and the Key West Grill has a refurbished pirate vessel on the outside of their building. Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle has a new Ghosts and Legends theater that includes some piratey tales. Life is good for the Brotherhood! If yer' ever heading to the Myrtle Beach area, let me know. I'm not that far away. Captain Sage

Pirates with Parrots or other Beasties?
Captain Sage replied to TalesOfTheSevenSeas's topic in Scuttlebutt
My daughter's new kitten likes to sit around my shoulders, so we joke around that she's my "pirate kitty". Her proper name is Smudge, but her nickname is Cracker, for reasons I won't get into. When she's on my shoulder riding around the house, I say, "Cracker want a Polly?" I could take her on my ship, but just like all cats, she'd want to be in charge. Captain Sage
