I looked at the Townsend blanks for myself, but got mine from this fine lady instead: http://www.snoods.com/hats.html. Like the Townsend version, it is a nice felt blank with a 4.5 to 5" brim. I did a faux tar pitch finish and I'm very pleased with the results. Hers are just a few bucks cheaper; $25.00 including shipping. I'm very very pleased with mine. I do, however, understand his uneasiness with ordering online.

I just got back from Pennsic, and there was a merchant selling hat blanks with REALLY nice big brims. If I'd had the money, I would have brought several home with me. Anyhow, I'm going to work on looking up their information, and seeing if they sell online. I'll post as soon as I've got it.

i'll be driving in on Friday (i ought to be onsite by 5pm), and returning Monday (the 15th - pathetic, ain't it?) as soon as my hangover has subsided enough to drive. i'll be camping with the Outlanders (i'm Chief Torturer of the Maleficent). i'm the one with the cleavage and the whip. In any case, i'll try to stop by your way if i get the chance. Ya know - i thought about photographing myself in them for the auction, but then i figured they'd sell better without my legs in them. I really do hate to part with them. Someday, though, i'd like to replace them with a (non-shiny) leather pair - gotta love the smell of leather .
