  1. Congratulations! I am jealous. Still working on saving up for mine...
  2. 1. Feminine hygiene products, so I can sell them at highly inflated prices to lady time-travellers from the Pub who left them off their own list. 2. Digital camera 3. DV Camcorder 4. Laptop to upload and save all the stuff captured with #2 & 3... with WiFi connector -- maybe I can find a live link and post them directly back to the Pub and brag about what I am doing. 5. Captain Chicken (if you don't already know, don't start asking now) 6. Sonic Screwdriver 7. Almanac or other comprehensive reference guide listing all eclipses, major storms and other climatic events during the pertinent year in question. 8. One year's supply of condoms 9. One year's supply of multivitamins 10. Neosporin 11. My LeMat revolver 12. It was hard choosing 11 of these. I defer my #12 slot as a Wild Card to be chosen later.
  3. That's one door I will keep my kids from Trick-or-Treating at.
  4. Red Bess, if #2 the lie, it's a real good one! Jacky Tar, all three are believable... So I will also say the Russian airspace is the lie, but it seems like a toss up between the three... unless the woman who was brought to you was a witch named Red Bess!
  5. And I want to add... I actually hung out, ate, and knocked back a few drinks with most of these guys. It wasn't just a handshake (except in the case of Torsten Wiesel). And a finer, more down-to-Earth bunch of people you will never meet. I actually helped Dudley Herschbach (who appeared animated on an episode of The Simpsons) calculate his Bacon number.
  6. Too many other people are pending, and enough people have guessed (right and wrong)... so I am already starting to get lost. It's Reveal Time for me. 3. Truth. No -- not accept an award for someone else. I would be part of the team. I have been centrally involved for over four years in a project of using science as a bridge to peace in the Middle East. I will not take the space here to fully expand on this, but many have suggested that this project -- if it continues to gain momentum -- could land the organizing committee a Nobel Peace Prize; at least we are in the right league. As one of the two people who have done virtually all the work on this project, I would undoubtedly Be There. But, time will tell. I am much more concerned that our very, very hard work will pay off for the benefit of everyone on Planet Earth, as that is really reward enough for me... especially as I have children who will live longer in this world than I. 2. Truth. I am almost certain I met more than 12 Nobel laureates, but 12 is all I could recall, and this was supposed to be a Truth. In the approximate order I met them: Leon Lederman, Linus Pauling, Roald Hoffmann, Mario Molina (he actually rode in my car), Sherwood Rowland, Dudley Herschbach, Yuan T. Lee, Jean-Marie Lehn, Claude Cohen Tannoudji, Torsten N. Wiesel, Aaron Ciechanover, and Richard Ernst. 3. This was the lie. I have a Bacon number of 3, but not official. Long Tom called this one on the head (Jacky Tar was close, but he thought the Nobel Prize would be for someone else so... No). My Bacon number is not official, as is is not through major motion pictures. I appeared with Michael Moore in the television show "TV Nation" (this was not a minor appearence -- I had a few significant roles, some in the same frame as he, including collapsing dead on camera against his legs). ... Anyway, Michael Moore appeared in EdTV (1999) with Clint Howard; Clint Howard was in "My Dog Skip" (2000) with Kevin Bacon. I want to play again...
  7. Klingon party on Saturday (I am bringing "Soylent Green" as an appetizer); haven't decided if I want to do the 2-hour Klingon make-up job, or to be a jerk and show up as a pirate. I think I'm going as pirate. Actually, I am psyched! I had a work obligation on Saturday, which has been canceled because the 5-alarm fire in Chicago's loop this week (it was the lead news story in Chicago) weakened the building across the street, and the block has been closed as being declared a "collapse zone." Sunday is a pirate-themed Hallowe'en party for a bunch of 9-year-old girls. I have been hired as a pirate persona to add flavor to the party. Tomorrow I officially throw myself into full preparation for this. Tuesday (Hallowe'en) is a $500 first prize costume party at a local (Irish) tavern. Was thinking about doing the pirate thing to the hilt, until I learned that "pirate" is the single number one costume of choice for men this year. Oops. I think it's worth the try anyway. It's fun to drink beer as a pirate in an Irish tavern, so what the heck.
  8. Silkie -- I hesitate to guess, for fear that I forgot your posting this stuff before. However, I'll say ye did NOT get the Jaguar lease. See? This is unfair. So little has not been revealed about myself somewhere in this Pub... there's almost nothing left to lie about, and most all the truths have been laid bare for all to see.
  9. Long Tom: The first two sound much too believable (I myself have a real human skull in my basement, which was going to me one of my truths)... So I am going with #3 as the lie... although I suspect you've put a spin on the wording to make it the truth. Ah, whatever.
  10. The possibilities for this are almost endless. Let's see -- how to make these sound exaggerated but not unbelievable? I keep thinking of all truths -- need to devise a lie. Hmmm... I think I'll make this all a related theme: 1. I have a an official Bacon Number of 3 (that's Three Degrees of Separation from Kevin Bacon). 2. I have personally met twelve different Nobel Prize winners. 3. There is a reasonably good chance that I will go to Stockholm for the Nobel Prize -- to accept the award. You think you have this one figured out, don't you. Guess. Double-dog dare you to guess.
  11. What was my word?.... Er... "Black Rose" Orchid
  12. Oi -- Crowsnest Kate... Were you at Port Washington '06? Get yer buns over to the RAIDS section, and look up the thread "Pirate Festival! Port Washington, Wisconsin" (I just renewed it, so it will be easier to find) and post something there. Hell, yeah, I will be at PW07. Several pages of my aforementioned journal chronicle my adventrues at PW06.
  13. Not much to add. It's just that I am at the point of prepping for this event, and thought I would renew this thread for quick ease of reference...
  14. Oh, I haven't figured that out, either. This will actually be my first major sewing project with teh two new kittens. Erg.
  15. Dammit. Anyone have a good idea how to take photos of material and buttons without playful kittens getting in the way?
  16. My pen is mightier than your sword. No, seriously -- I have it crammed down the barrel of my flintlock backed by 70 grains of black powder. I have no doubt yours may be better, becasue I am rushing through mine... I could do so much better. My only claim to fame may be infecting you all with this contagoin.
  17. No one is biting at the bait? Perhaps no one is perusing this thread...
  18. Coffee and Orange rolls as my wife is watching "The Witches of Eastwick." Still coming down off the high of what was quite possibly my best-ever single most enjoyable day of Civil War reenacting yesterday.
