  1. Ah, she took me out for Sushi. Sushi Deluxe Platter, as well as a full order of Dancing Eel. MMMmmmmmmm......
  2. a torrential downpour outside. Rain, rain, rain. Thunder BOOM! Rain, rain, rain.
  3. As far as "Pirate Racks" are concerned., I noticed there is a "Hot Pirate Babes Calendar" thread....
  4. The Happiest of Birthdays to you, Fellow October Seconder! You, Me, Groucho Marx, Sting, Don McLean ("American Pie"), Confuscious, Ghandi... That's all I memorized. Here's to your health.
  5. Oh, darn. I was just getting yur GAoP period-correct enema prepared. A mixture of boiling hot coffee and mercury gravity-fed through a 5-inch diameter unsanded wooden tube. Next time, call me sooner.
  6. I picked up a DVD copy several months ago. I love this movie. John Cleese is superb.
  7. I have one of these, too.... I have seen hollow-based ones at flea markets, but would never purchase one... could not imagine where I would use it. However, it has about 20 pounds of pewter in it, so it's only for Heavy drinking. I recall that this style dates from Colonial times, but a quick search on the web (as well as the U.S. National Park Service, which is from where I thought I received this information) was inconclusive.
  8. ...What's more, this weekend I found Pyrates magazine on the shelves of a local Barnes & Noble a full month (or more) after NOT finding it there. What I can now see is that there are distribution problems... but it is getting where it needs to be.
  9. ...Ah, never mind. While there are overlaps between you and her, she would never be caught dead in Maine. She was a California girl...
  10. Piratesse: I concur. I dated a woman with your same birthday, and that description was not ... er.... descriptive. Wait a minute.... going to see your personal settings...
  11. I thought today was a good day to try this... ***Your Birthdate: October 2*** You're so intuitive, it's like you have a sixth, seventh, and eighth sense. You connect with others freely and easily - and you tend to have many best friends. Warm and caring, it's hard for you to close your heart to anyone. Affection is like air for you - you need to give and receive it to survive. (Okay, so far, this is Dead On) Your strength: Your universal compassion Your weakness: Your unpredictable mood swings Your power color: Mauve Your power symbol: Butterfly Your power month: February * * * * * * * I do not know how "Mauve" can be a power color. What, did they use up the other 364 colores? Similarly... Butterfly? A power symbol? What does that mean? And what's the deal with February?
  12. Well, ye got my attention. Hey -- anyone not yet picked up the birthday present ya wanted to get me, you can probably find something worthwhile right here in this thread...
  13. Not cooking anything. It's my birthday, and I suspect my Lovely Bride has something in store...
  14. Was that a typo, or did you mean to sign your name "Rat Ass?"
  15. Hmmm... plenty of time for Bilgemunkey to collect his thoughts and say a thing or two about this event... Bilge, did ye go? Got anything to add? I'd be interested in hearing what you thought.
  16. A good bleeding is what's called for!
  17. Okay, a question for Kass... The pattern (we are talking about Justacorps RH 701) calls for linen (for example) lining as well as linen for interlining. Am I correct in assuming that I can use the SAME linen for both lining and interlining? I don't mean to skimp on the amount of fabric used -- rather use the same material (double quantity: six yards) for both purposes? While you may have ADVICE to offer me (and others) on whether this is wise or not, I hope your answer is "YES" to my specific question... 'cuz I already purchased 6.5 yards of linen for this purpose (40% off!).
  18. ...Back from errands. Fabric purchases complete. I picked up my wool from Hancock Fabricks (good call, Kass... thanks a bunch!) and that was with a 40% off coupon. Drove back to a different Jo Anne Fabrics and picked up the needed linen (using that store's 40% off coupon). I also picked up 24 more buttons, using the 50% off Hancock coupon (Jo Anne honors competitor coupons)... I think I have around 70 thus far. So, here's my inventory: Wool. Check. (It's a light brown, not dissimilar to what Rateye was wearing at Bristol... although perhaps a shade darker). Linen. Check. Buttons. Around 70 -- pattern calls for "up to 150." I might push for the max. That means I am ready to go. So my next step is to lay out the pattern and start cutting. However, household improvement projects must take priority for the rest of the day (my birthday is tomorrow -- wife must remain happy). I also picked up that other fabric -- I will probably make a second coat from that. The fabric is certainly not as authentic -- thus I might try sewing each step on THAT coat first, and then not repeating mistakes on the authentic wool one. When I am done, I will have another Fantasy Pirate Coat, which I can wear to parties, or possibly sell for a hefty profit (I received so many offers for my first one...)
  19. Actually, I subscribe to Hancock Frabics online coupons, and received (at 1:44 AM this morning) a 40% off coupon for any one cut of fabric, as well as 50% of buttons (limit 10 cards). Now I might drive in the other direction...
  20. Hmmm... I think I'm going to get that Slops pattern next... I picked up the "buried treasure" fabric today. Sadly, they had no good wool, although there was a surfeir of linen. I think tomorrow I will try a different Jo Annes Fabrics and look for wool -- the Good News is that I have a 40% off coupon that starts tomororw...
  21. Oi! Take care of yourself, buddy! I just got my CW Dismounted Cav gear all together... ya gotta stay healthy! Sounds like ya pulled a pricketty stitch...
