  1. Ravioli with homemade sun-dried tomato pesto and homemade mocha cheesecake.
  2. Also, be sure to wash the fabric beforehand. Breeches are particularly unforgiving when it comes to shrinkage. Those below-knee bands will suddenly be positioned in the middle of your knee - not good. Do I know this from personal experience? Yes, I do. I found some gorgeous dark blue fabric and proceeded to make a pair of breeches from it (older style, with ties below the knee rather than buttons or buckles.) I allowed for what I thought was a reasonable amount of shrinkage for that type of fabric. The first time I washed them, I discovered that my calculations were not entirely accurate.
  3. Just had some homemade cucumber raita (an Indian yogurt salad.)
  4. Cruzan Black Strap - mmm :) Haven't been able to find that lately. Okay - enough digressing... Paint
  5. Soft tacos - veggie. I was a bit bad, though; I had extra guacamole.
  6. The Maritimes are lovely - my family is from there, particularly along the Mirimichi in central New Brunswick. Let's see... my short list: 1. Scotland 2. Ireland 3. Northern Italy 4. Australia 5. New Zealand 6. Turkey (to see Aya Sofia) 7. Greece 8. Costa Rica 9. The Galapagos
  7. HarborMaster - why are you trying to lose weight so quickly? You have to give your body enough time to adjust and putting yourself on an unrealistic diet is a sure way of failing. Take it from someone who took two years to lose 30 pounds - and kept it off. Everyone I know who has followed this longer-term plan has lost weight and kept it off. Conversely, everyone I know who has gone with the crash diet method is now larger than they were before. You're obviously not happy about limiting yourself to this drastic diet; why put yourself through all of this if it's going to fail in the long run? Seriously, the best way to lose weight and have it stay off is to make periodic, minor changes in your diet that you can live with the rest of your life. Because it doesn't matter how much weight you lose now - as soon as you start going back to anything resembling your old eating habits, you are going to gain all that weight back, and then some. Sorry to be a bit of a buttinski, but I've seen this happen too often to not speak (write?) up.
  8. Why? Because you won't be able to move as fast and would be an easier target?
  9. Jamba Juice macha green tea blast smoothie - yum!
  10. Couldn't hurt. But seriously Phil, those truisms you dismissed earlier CAN be used in most situations. When confronted with difficulties, you can either wallow in self-pity or accept that parts of life are tough and that if you keep moving forward, a lot of that stuff eventually goes by the wayside. Or you learn to deal with them. Occasional short duration self-pity is normal - extended self-pity is a waste of your time. Life is too damn short to wallow in misery. A few suggestions: - Declaw your cat - Get some psychological help to find out why you keep attracting and being attracted to the wrong type of woman. - Do something that will take you outside of yourself, like volunteer. - If you're that upset about the hair loss, there are lots of options out there nowadays. Investigate them. - Move away from Wilkes Barre - Concentrate on what's right with your life rather than what's wrong. - Accept that many of your problems can be solved only by you - and that they ARE solveable. I know I'm not saying anything original or earth-shattering here. I've been through things that would turn most people into whimpering idiots (in fact, some of them DID turn the other people involved into whimpering idiots.) Cataloging possible solutions and giving myself a figurative kick in the behind are what got me through those times.
  11. Pretty damn content. I spent last Friday with a friend I hadn't seen in 22 years. It was like no time had passed at all. Just got a promotion at work. And I'm spending this weekend celebrating my promotion with Jack, buying a couple of side tables and hanging out with friends.
