  1. Happy natal day to fionn....may my cat lick your arse.........however many times is appropriate to your unknown age............*cough......and many happy returns of the day!
  2. to mr. fox i fully endorse anything this man makes for you, he is a damn fine carpenter, and a great smith to boot!....he recently finished a wonderful grommet horn, and round ended mallet for me......bless 'em.....

  4. Happiest of Natal Days to our dear Diosa........many happy returns and flying squirrels to the day!
  5. please be sure to keep us informed!
  6. Thank you mr. bagley you have been most helpful! I feel that i indeed must try and get that book. Indeed you are correct about the marine units, i dont believe any of them actually made it to the colonies either, but what i did find was that(especially after the war) infantry would sometimes get posted on ships needing added protection or force....and especially after the war, groups of former soldiers would work for hire, sometimes onboard privateers.....the source on that being "british regulars in colonial america" which i believe is linked earlier in this thread. Sadly, i dont have the resources to pull of any soldier like impressions atm, so i have lots of time to figure out if it really is appropriate, or worth doing.
  7. Thanks for the correction mr.fox, i had believed selkirk had been on dampier's vessel....for shame on me for not checking to be sure
  8. heck, dampier was apparently so bad that stenkirk wanted to just wait for another ship......how bad must a leader be to think it a better idea to stay on an island with goats......till who knows when.......
  9. he doesnt have pictures posted of his beckets, but i assure you he does quite well......he just didnt go too crazy on master red wakes beckets........lots of cockscombing...lots.....
  10. A happy natal day to master bagley, and many happy returns full of maple syrup.........Yours & co. I. Cross
  11. indeed mark, i mean everything BUT pirates...EEVVEERRYYOOONNEE wants to know how pirates behaved, but i want to know what the rest of the "law abiding" seamen were like when onboard......which in search of, iv discovered that sailors journals are the way to go!
  12. look in google e-books for anything by edward ward, also search for the journal of Henry Teonage whilst there.......i much enjoy wards reading...though he is a cynic....like myself lolol
  13. Just came across this in Edward Wards 1682 and 1699 journey to new england....tis a lovely example of how to act about the captain: he continues humorously in this manor for another paragraph before changing subject......i think it quite clear that he may not have had the best opinion of the ships master........
  14. Many thanks to sirs bright and fox for helping instead of heckling...........as for the rest of you, remember when the luna is done, and you come aboard to marvel in its glory...just remember that i know what is hanging from where....and from which pin to cast off a topping lift....... ..............as for period accounts....which are my favorite sources, i have woods rogers and Henry Teonge's...though the latter's is the one iv looked at the least...this will be remedied..........i shall away and look for the others........thank yousir, for the names! On a slight side note....dear lord id love to have Edward Barlow's journal...but alas, i have not $400 dollars for the purchase.....for shame to google e-books for not scanning it!....yet.........
  15. SSSSSooooooo in my recent researching, i have run into an interesting question.......how did one act aboard ship? More clearly, how did one treat others aboard ship. What did you do when an officer spoke to you........ what did you do when the captain spoke to you, how bad was it to talk back to your superiors? How did officers address seamen......... Oh...this is on RN ships, privateers, and merchantmen...not those no good rule breaking pirates..........not asking for exact answers, just some guidance perhaps on where to look.............. Yours & co. Isrl. Cross
  16. here is the Shandarts photo gallery, some decent shots of their cabinet in there, very similar to what we have planned...... http://www.shtandart.com/picture_gallery.htm heres a couple http://www.boatnerd.com/news/newsthumbs/newsthumbs_645.htm wheel on the pride

  18. we can get some electronics....many ships sneak them in near by........usually in the control pedistal things....must have a radio near by as well.....i shall do some searching.....

  20. http://www.renaissancetailor.com/demos_buttons.htm Have at it my lady!
  21. first off.......it is wwaaayyy too popular to disagree with me....ill get you all back....dont worry...... As for the journals mission........mabey shorten them a bbiitt....or to at least, please, do more than two. Your journals are actually one of my favorite things in the pyrate reenacting scene. Through them, i can sort of experience events that iv missed out on, and i really appreciate that. As a matter of fact, even though people have told me id like it, its your journal thats convinced me to go to searls raid. It was also one of the driving forces in getting me to pip the first time.........maybey you could do 2 full length journals for your favorites, and shorter 2 or 3 page journals for smaller, or not as favored events....... stumbled a Cross.....really now...... Yours & Co. Israel Cross
  22. ........makes me want to go....all these Canadians around....is anyone from down south driving up to this one? heck, i still havent met master mako...i like hurdy gurdies you see....... Yours & Co. Israel Cross
  23. I like them as you finish them....gives me something to look to, and to curse you for not finishing yet..........a bonus for you, is that it requires me to visit back to see the new page...thus giving you more hits Yours & Co. I. Cross
