  1. More info on ConGaloosh:

First, thank you ALL for your interest in the event! We are still working on more surprises and fun, but I wanted to address a question that I've been asked a few times regarding ConGaloosh 2009 and if attendees are required to book at the hotel in order to register for the event. . .

The event takes place over the weekend (9/25-9/27 2009) and does NOT require that you stay at the Royal Plaza (our host hotel).

We have two packages available for the ConGaloosh 2009:

Open House - (Saturday 9/26) features a 1937 themed "Adventurers Life is Best Banquet" which includes and Adventurers Club Cast Member Panel Discussion, PI Historian Discussion (different content that what was presented at the NFFC), "Always Dress for the Hunt" ConGaloosh Competition (spin your own tale of adventure) and more. .

    (Cost $100)

HOOPLA! VIP Party (Friday 9/25) Includes ALL of the Open House Package PLUS: Dinner inside the Adventurers Club, entertainment by Adventurers Club Cast Members and TWO Library shows!

(Cost $225 - this is for BOTH the Open House and the HOOPLA event inside the Adventurers Club)

Our official all purpose website: www.congaloosh.org has details on our host hotel, The Royal Plaza, which does offer a special room rate of ONLY $99 per night for the event (A steal for an "on property" hotel) - however it is NOT required that you stay at the Royal Plaza to attend ConGaloosh 2009

Registration (via Pay Pal) should be going live in the next few weeks and will be available through our all purpose website. (We are waiting our web designer to return from Safari)

FYI - the board and staff of ConGaloosh 2009 is completely voluntary and does not make any money from the event (all staff are paying for their event attendance out of pocket). This not for profit organization has a "break even" budget. Should any funds be left over from the event, they will be put towards next year's ConGaloosh (or, in the event the club reopens, or the ConGaloosh Society Inc. dissolves, any remaining funds will be donated to charity)

The Congaloosh Society is a 501©3 Florida Not For Profit Corporation with a mission of educating and preserving interactive theater such as that of Walt Disney’s Adventurers Club. The Congalosh Society is not part of nor endorsed by the Walt Disney Company

  2. You look awesome Brig! I can't wait to see it all in person!

(And dread falls with kanekalon aren't hard, they just take lots of time. I also have tons that I braid directly into my hair, that I can then wear loose/down/etc)

  3. I have some dread falls that I made yeaaars ago, that are MASSIVE and I love them. They are kanekalon backcombed, twisted and steamed into dreads in multiple thicknesses and colors as well as Colinette .5 wool yarn in Zebra that I hand dyed a dusty rose.

  4. That looks awesome pyrateleather!

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, my standard work attire is tending towards the punkish, and I found the pic I referenced. You can't really tell, but that is a tweed fitted vest with (imitation, I'm sure) crocodile styled leather trim at the pockets and leather buttons. I could see using that and the blouse rather easily. And yet, both were purchased within the last 3-4 months at Bebe!

  5. I too have a bodhran! Ye can see it there on my wall (old pic from about 3 years ago, but its the only one I got where ye can see the thing!)

I do not, however, have any idea how to play it, alas. So anyone who wants to point in the proper direction would be greatly appreciated.

I also picked up my guitar again, after not playing for several years. Calluses are returning slowly yet painfully. heh

  6. Me too...I dunno if I want to go for the PC gear or just do the costumey thing...maybe I'll mix it up.

I have a totally non-PC bodice from Damsel in this Dress that I have yet to wear at all, so I might dig that out. Since it's rennie, I'm less concerned and it would give me a chance to wear something I wouldn't be able to get away with at a PC event.

  7. I believe that several of the cast are planning on attending the event - I will try to keep this thread updated with information on it, but check the CONgaloosh site for updates as well, since the actual registration procedure for the night at the club (limited to 75 guests) has not yet been revealed.

  8. Yay! I should be arriving fairly early as well - anyone who wants digits, shoot me a mail and I'll give 'em along to aid in the meeting up.

Christ, now I gotta figure out what I'm wearing....

  9. WHAT IS IT WITH CAKE TONIGHT?!

*and she stomps off grumbling about how first her family offer her ice cream cake and now here's rum cake and she's on day 6 of her new, far more strenuous, work out regime and more sensible diet which does not, at this moment in time, have room within it's confines for CAKE. No cake for at least 2 weeks!

    GAH!

  10. My wacky personal politics have kept me out of Wal*Mart (AKA, THE EMPIRE) for 7 years, and I can't break that record now! But, I might have some reusable costumes of the past that might work. Plus (ironically enough) my professional wardrobe consists of more than a few fitted vests and blouses with gathered sleeves and such. I posted a pic around here somewhere, but I forget where...
