  1. I just unpacked enough to get to the camera and download the pics off it - I will try to get them up tomorrow!

I had an unbelievable amount of fun hanging out with everyone again and these pics you guys took are amazing - thank you all for making my birthday memorable! And most especially Jessica and Michael for picking me up form the airport, the beyond-the-pale-gorgeous petticoat and mantua, the cake, and for being all around awesome folk. You guys are beyond my capability to describe at the moment, because I am too exhausted from all the fun. Seriously!

And, of course, Mission, for the ride back to the airport - despite the protests and stalling, still managing to get me there in time for my flight!

  2. Awesome!

So how did you know to use that as the basis for your kit?

(Duh... like, there's gotta be a website somewhere right, or a forum, devoted totally to Alien Reenactors).

That movie had some of the best costumes. I can remember seeing a bunch of them at Disney World back in '90.

    There is a website! lol

I am a looooong time Alien quadrilogy fan and this will be my first actual created reenactment (The Mooby gear above was put together though purchases and swag from being a part of Kevin Smith's web community). My first step will be to dye the jacket to try to get it from the drab olive to a more blue/grey shade. Which will be nerve wracking! lol

  3. I recently went to comic book con dressed as an employee of Mooby's - the fictional fast food chain in Kevin Smith's movies.

One of my next projects is to recreate a Nostromo Crew jacket from Alien. I just got the base jacket from ebay uk a few weeks ago. Haven't had to start it yet, but here is the jacket - a Royal Airforce MK III circa the mid 60s.

  4. It's actually the kanji for the phonetic sounds "go" and "se" (pronounced GO-suh), which roughly translates to "shit".

Um. yeah. ANYWAY! My endeavor to get photos with the cast continues!

  5. Of course, I AM still planning to attend PiP....it will just sadly be another year where at best I arrive in the wee hours on Friday night and have to leave Sunday.

we'll know it's you by the late arrival and that ungodly bright lantern !! :)

That lantern led many a drunken reveler to the potty!

....and blinded many others, but HEY, give a little, get a little.

  6. *Continues to go about updating her status*

It's looking like I will have to back out of this event, despite all the great chatter and demands that I attend from PiP. Finances are tight as I am trying to buy a condo and the cost of flying/hotel/clothing etc is just looking to be prohibitive, alas.

  7. I have had a slight change in plans.

I had been planning to do the full PIP event this year, as school precluded my participation until Friday in 2008. Alas, it seems I will be using up all my paid time off in November for a trip back to Ireland as it is one of my closest friends' 30th birthday and there is going to be quite a bash.

Of course, I AM still planning to attend PiP....it will just sadly be another year where at best I arrive in the wee hours on Friday night and have to leave Sunday.

  8. In a strange twist it looks like we're trading Red Jessi and Diosa for the Nina and Pinta that weekend while they're at the Santa Maria. Do two two caravels beat one in this game? :)

With absolute certainty and without a moments hesitation.....we are. B)

    whose gittin the better deal??

    B)

    ah.... B) .....yeah...thats wot i meant too.... B) ....no really....thats wot i meant...?!?!? B)

(ppsssttt....they're not readin this are they??)

    B)

uh-huh........ and reading it with over a week to plot and plan.......

    B)

You bring the hot sauce, I'll bring the nair. And he thought the hair cut at PIP was bad!

  9. My flight is booked! That means I am officially invading....er.....participating! Also....BIRTHDAY TRIP! YAY!

I always wondered where people in Florida went for vacations.

Yeah, I told my Family I am going to Columbus, Ohio for my birthday. They are bewildered. But, then again, I've bewildered them for a long time, so its nothing new!
