Someone (I think Siren or Akasha) was curious about the Safflower Frock Coat I was making. I just discovered that I had a load of pictures I never put up. They're not of the finished product yet, but of the dyeing process (i.e. how the safflower frock coat came to be coloured safflower). So if you're interested, here's the page: A Late 18thc Frock Coat Dyed with Safflower Can you believe that I have a man who not only would wear this colour, but actually bragged to his friends about it! Married the right chap, I did... I'll be doing more work on it for the Colonial Ball in early October, so I will post pictures of the finished garment then. Enjoy! And let me k…

Looks like NECA put up some new pics of the 18 inch Jack Sparrow dolls. In my opinion, doesn't really look too much like Johnny, but cool anyway! **placing order** Edited to ask: Does anybody know if there will be 18 inch Barbossa dolls too? If not, I think that's a mistake! That would be a great set to have! http://www.necaonline.com/comiconnews4.html M. Bloodheart

Some of you may have seen this already. But for those of you who have not... it's more a quick & easy access now to get ahold of a pattern to make 18th c stays! Was at JoAnn Fabrics here in Cedar Rapids... looked at the pattern books.. Butterick has a new pattern out to make 18th & 19th c stays & corsets! I'm BEYOND happy, if you are someone like me who has one pattern it's strapless. These new patterns allow for straps or you can not have the straps if you wish! Various good patterns to different eras. But, I'm still not all that impressed with the 18th or even 17th c selection. There was one dress/gown I thought the pattern was rather dead on.. if not …

Since I er... left my wench garb at Comic-con, I have to scramble to get a new one made before the next faire, the Big Bear faire. I have multiple patterns of what I want, but now I need to know what kinds of fabric to use. I don't want anything synthetic, I need it historically accurate (kind of) and BREATHABLE. Bloody damn hot at faires, I need some air! What materials did wenches normally use for bodices, for chemises and skirts? I know I'm looking at natural weaves... is linen okay for one or everything? Any help is appreciated! Thanks! Captain Wolfy Wench

I'd thought it lost long ago, but while visiting my folks last week in Georgia, I found my very first pirate cutlass, as good as the day I left it! My brother had a similar one, and you can see by this closeup of the blade that we had more that a scuffle or two: 'Course, the handle's a wee bit small for my hand now, and I have to hold my pinkie out like some sort of dainty, but them's the breaks!

While crusin' the local K-Mart, I found a cloth type steering wheel cover with skulls and crossbones all over it. Well of course I had to buy it. I tried a search on the Internet to try and find it, but so far no luck. The only company name on it is Habitat. Good luck to anyone who has better luck than me trying to find it. I may need to sell a custom forged cutlass in order to help pay for my son's dental surgery. This was a piece one year in the making. 39" long with a 32" 5160 blade. The blade is dull for reenactment and/or costum display but can be sharpened to a tempered functional edge. Comes in at a hefty 6 pounds. Most of that weight is in the ribcage basket which is strong enough to punch through 1/4" plywood easily. Lined with oxblood leather. Black wooden scabbard is included ... it's a tight fit but should loosen over time. Wrapped with red and black leather hanger buckles. Also included is a custom matching leather sash with a detailed skeletal hand gripping a ring. The scabbard…
