A while ago, I found a shirt online, don't remember where off the top of my head, and I'd like to try to find where I can buy such a shirt. I've seen it worn by some people at some of the faires I've been to. The best way I can describe it the shirt is similar in style to wrap pants where the shirt is put on like a jacket, split in half down the middle, and then the bottom of the shirt is wrapped around the waist like a belt, tieing in the back with the other side. If anyone might be able to direct me as to where I might find a shirt similar to this decsription, please let me know! Thanks in advance! Morick Towain

Ok ive heard alot of you in the past asking about custom leatherwork. My father and I have been doing it for years at renfaires, SCA events, and the like. We do every thing from belt pouches to belts to baldrics, purses, backpacks, sheaths, scabards, quivvers, holsters, etc. (hell we made a baldric & holster for my buddies blunderbuss just so he didnt have to carry it while shopping). we can also do custom tooling depending on the design. In the SCA in the kingdom of Caid, Leather by longshore used to be a well known place to get custom work. we stand by our work 100% for life (besides normal wear and tear of course). all of our work is done by my father or mysel…

Well, I spent a couple hours at the wood shop today... It's a bit rough, and old looking. It's approximately 3 inches across or so, by about an inch and a half thick. Here's a picture of some real deadeyes to compare it to:

I am looking for contact information on Strapwell Leather. They sell great baldrics, and I am in the position to buy one, but all of my efforts to locate them by phone or email have failed and their website has been "under construction" for years. Supposedly, they are still located in California. Can anyone assist me?

Due to fluctuating dates and internet connectivity problems by one of the instructors, the sewing sticky threads at the top have been closed until a confirmed date is set. I apologize for the inconvenience. With the holiday season fast approaching it might be wise to postpone this until the new year.

Over the weekend my great media connection, Diosa, got us onto the MGM Studios lot here in Orlando in costume (that's a whole 'nuther story) so she could interview Jason Surrell, the author of the Haunted Mansion book (attraction to movie). He just finished Pirates of the Caribbean, a follow up book. It's absolutely amazing - full of trivia and great stories of how the attraction came to be, the differences between all the park PotC rides and how it dovetailed into the movie. It's on sale right now at the Magic Kingdom and I believe Disneyland. Here's a photo of us at Jason's signing. Of course, I'm stealing the book. I think it's set for release to the general public…

This is an interesting topic that was burried in another discussion, so I thought I would dig it out to see the sunlight as it affects a population of Pirate re-enactors. The real question for those of us who need to correct thier vision is: What kinds of glasses are appropriate for the Golden Age of Piracy. For the sake of this discussion I will exand the definition of GAoP to 1690ish to 1725. The short answer is, for glasses with temple arms (like modern glasses) they are not period. They were not invented until 1727 in England, and I would imagine that their wide spread use wasn't noted till the 1730s. A time line for eyewear http://www.antiquespectacles.com/hist…

I would hate to clutter up the fine forum we have here, but there are certain topics that keep poping up. Might it be possible to creat a sticky post for each of the following? Hats Swords Firearms Clothing So that instead of creating new thread (and rehashing the same topic) that newbies and crusty oldies could find it all in one thread Just an idea GoF

A friend of mine was given, some years ago, an air freshener for his car that had a skull and crossbones with the words: "I'm a Pirate and this is my ship" written below the jolly roger. I've been looking for the same one for some time now, but can only find the standard Jolly Roger type(without words)...Has anyone seen the one I am referring to? Anyone know where to find one?
