Actually, that should say buttons free to GOOD home... my 1 year old son was i my lap and I had to type fast.... anyway I have some buttons.... These buttons probably date back to the 17th and go through the19th centuries. Most of these have broken or mising shanks.... so if you can solder or weld, you could have some interesting original buttons. did I mention that they were free, to a good home????? GoF

I'm in the business of wanting an old or throw away Marquee tent that no one wants any more. The new ones are just WAY too pricy for this piratess... and, if I were portraying an Officer of His Majesty's Navy... something lovely an' pristine would be prefect... but, I plan to use it really for pirate events. So.. the more worthless it is.. if it's one that needs to go into the dumps... I'm willin' to take if off yer hands! The price we can negotiate. PM or email me if you have one yer needin' to be rid of.

Curious Kass or even anyone else who wants to jump in on the idea... if any out there are curious about more sewing by hand and even emobroidery. I'm sure there are some folks out there who may be curious on how to do this. Refer books or other materials. I know when I started out with re-enacting... there was no one to show me or tell me. Nor did I have a sewing machine (as it was broken.. long story). So... the research paid off.. and a few books did, too! Kass.. I've question. Have you ever run into an issue when handsewing... where the seam is either too loose or too tight? No matter how good the stitch was?

If you haven't browsed Wm. Booth Draper , its well worth a look. Most of his descriptions are for F&I or Rev War but most of the stuff can be found earlier in our period. GoF

I am supposing I am up on a soap box here and I am not too choosey with details but I have a complaint about a website and I thought you should all know about this place. It is www.leatherworks.com. I had placed an order for a $400.00 item on the website. Once I submitted it, I am used to receiving a quick e-mail response acknowledging my order. I received nothing. I thought, "no problem, some companies do not have that program." After a few days, I called the listed telephone number. I got an answering machine. I left a message telling them to call me back ASAP with still no response. This upset me. A few days later, I called them again and this time my mes…

And I plan on stopping at the liquor store forsome rum. I like a cold Diet Coke with Lime with a generous splash of Captain Morgan as a relaxer when I get home from work. Unless it's been one of Those Days. Those Days could mean an Excellent One to Celebrate OR a Rotten One to Recouperate. On Those Days, I like a generous splash o' rum neat. Last bottle of rum I liked neat was Captain Morgan Private Stock. Now I'm looking for something richer, smoother, something to get lost in for a few moments at the end of a Day. I'm also thinking of trying Tattoo, if ye think it's got more of a kick or at least a stronger flavor to hold up in a mixed drink. But for the straight-up r…

Ok, so I am looking to buy a pair of knee breeches, I don't want to make them, I'm just too lazy right now and have to much other stuff going on. So I have narrowed it down to either Jas Town or The Flying Canoe Traders. Any opinions?

I have been looking for a couple of good solid color Bandanas to go with my outfit. Most of my stuff is storebought, so I look more like a Hollywood Pirate than a "Period" one. I did find this link and ordered one or two from there. http://www.brandsonsale.com/solcolban.html Do you happen to know of any other places that make good solid bandanas?

Shipmates, I desire to purchase a well-made Monmouth knit cap for my son's Christmas present. He wears approximately a modern size 7. (The lad is only 13, but is a veteran of over 5 years Civil War reenacting, most of that time "campaigner" style - i.e. wearing only hand-made uniforms and sleeping on the ground with one blanket. He and I are both transitioning from Civil War to 18th century naval living history, and he'd be thrilled with a Monmouth cap for Christmas.) The cap needs to be authentic, of course; hand-knitted from period-correct woolens. If able to assist, please reply here or e-mail me at polecatmess@aol.com . Thank you! Very Respectfu…
