My machinist on the 6-Pack project has been in-undated with work lately so I have had to keep busy with other projects. Here is the latest one. A small 21" bronze cannon with a 1" bore. It'll go in our bar mounted atop a barrel and can easily be removed and used on the Scuba boat . i still need to fit it with a combo - Tompion / Ramrod and a handle however the swivel yoke just got completed and will be getting a black paint job as soon as this post is completed.

Ello Mates, Pirates always get lucky on saturday night and here be a chance to enjoy some fine pirate tunes at the same time. The Pirates of New Providence are having a CD release party at Pirate-n-Plunder in Whittier, CA. I've heard the band and have enjoyed their performances at quite few events around the Southern California area. Those of you who were able to attend Spring Ojai Renaissance PIRATE faire would have had to chance to hear this tight group perform. Alas I will not be able to attend this event as I have made other plans. Also, since I know the band, I'm hoping to plunder the CD before hand. For those who can, it is a fine opportunity to party like a …

If anyone is interested, there is a nice piece of fiction in the Spring issue of Pirates Magazine entitled The Taflkast Justice. Written under the names of Wench and Daniels. Wench would just happen to be Honour Bright..which, um....happens to be me. Just thought I'd mention it in passing....

I just got my new sword from Darkwood Armory. I'm very pleased with it. I would have to say it is more functional than decorative though. That is comparing it to my wife's Jody Sampson, but her's also cost three times as much as mine. Here are some pics. Pogue

For those who may be interested, I was browsing eBay this morning, and came across this item.... Hanger Sword on eBay The seller claims it is an AD 1650 to 1700 hanger sword, based on what I have seen in "Swords and Blades of the American Revolution", I am leaning towards believing the provenance claimed by the seller. It's worth the look even if you aren't interested in buying it.

Now mind you this isn't specifically for my garb, it's something I want to wear every day. There are four rings I am deciding between, all of which I like and range in price from $50 to $150. They are as follows from cheapest to most expensive: Also note the last ring would be in sterling silver without the diamond. I am really stuck between them, any advice would be greatly appreciated. -Gage

Does anybody know a good place to buy period wood or tin black powder chargers? I'm open to constructing my own but the lack of proper tools and workspace would result in something a bit simpler than what I would like. Read as hollowed out dowel rods. Thanks, Pogue, still not wearing pants...

I'm looking for anyone who might make the Barbossa style slops, or possibly a pattern for them. Mind you I'm not looking for some cheap drawstring for the waist type. Rather something that is nicely pleated at the top with either drop or button front, and a nice buttoned cuff below the knee. Of course I could be using the wrong term for the item of clothing. Ideas, suggestions?

It's been a while since I posted, and I wanted to see first if anyone would be interested in this first, Here goes: Me and My brother are interested in historical reenacting(Be it pirate, Cowboy Action, Civil, French and Indian, Revolutionary Wars, Mountain Man, Intergalatic or whatever) and what could be considered "lost arts"(anything involving making something by hand, using the old ways, techniques, and tools as our ancestors did it). Anyhow, along the way, we've picked up a lot of books and information, and I know there is lot of people here that are interested in making there own items(so they can stand out from the other 30 Capt. Jack's, Barbossa's, Hooks, e…

From what I've read about proper GAoP headwear it is pretty much the cocked hat, monmouth(sp?), and thrum(sp). I've seen another hat style, a bit taller than a tricorn, flat on top, and the brim is down. If that is the proper way to put it. Somewhat like a pilgrim hat without the buckle. Right now I'm watching Yellowbeard, not the best source for piratical ideas I know... But, Blind Pew is wearing that style of hat. Is it historically accurate, if so does it have a name? Thanks, Pantless Pogue (still)

OK... for my musket (or my new blunderbuss) I fire using cartridges....... When I did American Civil War reenacting, we didn't use the ramrod,(safety) but loaded from a paper cartradge.... So when I fire my musket, I still do that.... but without using wadding... I just get a "woosh".... with wadding I can get a good (happy) bang.... For some reason people loading pistols never fire thier ramrods... but with a musketl... using the ramrod and wadding is a no-no.... When I make my cartradges, they are a rolled tube of paper with my charge in it..... ( using 80 grains for a .76 cal... ) I'm trying to figure a way of making a rolled cartridge,... then attaching a chunk …

I searched for this, but did not find any results, so if this has been posted before, I apologize. Has anyone seen, purchased, or otherwise reviewed the '17th century shoes' available from the Sutler of Mount Misery, G. Gedney Godwin? Scroll the the bottom of the page. The picture if pretty awful, so I can't tell if they resemble the shoes that Greg, aka GoF, so helpfully posts on his site. It does seem as though the tongues are short. The hessian shoes, with their crazy-ass tongues, seems to suggest that era, but from what I can tell about that awful picture, the buckles are much to big. Anyone know? If they are a good match, than that mean the Golden Age of Golden Ag…
