As before, let's keep a good thought that this storm stays away from those we care about. Map hotlinked from NOAA.

Hi everyone, Just thought I'd mention that I've lived in Hawai'i for a while now, and wanted to open the topic for discussion. If you have any questions about the place, moving here, or just vacationing, let me know! The islands are still full of pirates (the real kind!). It's a beautiful place, but one with a unique culture that it's best to be somewhat familiar with before you go. So- any questions?

We had some mighty good winds here in New Orleans, and a fair amount of tree damage, but my home escaped unscathed, except for a lot of junk to sweep up outside. I pray all were so fortunate! :) Capt. William

Mr. Das and I just had dinner at a new restaurant in south Jersey called the Jersey Sailor. It's located in Historic Cold Spring Village and about 5 minutes from Cape May, 10 from Wildwood, and 45 min. to an hour from Atlantic City. There are a few folks working at the restaurant with Ren Faire experience, and they put on a pirate show after dinner for those interested in a little swordplay. I laughed me arse off during the show - they did a great job!! Anyone interested in checking the place out can go to http://www.jerseysailor.com We enjoyed ourselves very much, but next time we will dress the part, and take others along who would enjoy interacting with the res…

I'm about to take the family for our annual road-trip. This time the bulk of the trip will be the Gulf Coast of Florida, with Key West as our final destination. To keep costs down we generally pitch a tent at whatever national parks, camp grounds, or KOAs we can find, but online research is indicating that even this option can get pricey in the Key West vicinity (~$75/night for four people.) Any of you Key West gurus know any local secrets you can share? If that's what I've got to pay, then so be it, but if there's anything less pricey I'd love to hear about it! (looking MUCH forward to visiting the new Pirate Soul museum!!!)

If you ever St. Augustine way in Florida, be sure to spend an evening at the Taberna del Gallo. It is a great replica of a mid 18th century pub, about as authentic as it gets. Candles light the room, the Bilge Rats regale the audience with songs of the sea and there's no sign of any technology. Ya feel guilty even having a cellphone in your pouch. Amazing experience! The Pyrates of the Coast had a great time there - swilling sangria, hard cider and of course, fine ales. Bring your own tankard and prepare to sing along. Here's some photos... the one looks staged but that's the way it really is... lots of folks in costumes and kids are welcome until the Bilge Rats get a li…

Aye aye swabbies, I finds meself with some spare time nowadays and I needs a way to spend me gold. I've already got involved with VMX -eh, that's another tale. To the point then, i've caught word of a course that some group or another is offering for training in sailing a square rig, It sounds like a bit of fun, and when the salt and sunshine finally get to me and I steal a tallship from the harbour i'm sure it will come in handy, but before I rush into it wearing my best hat and my fancy vest, has anyone else done one of these courses?

Just went to Fort Mifflin for the first time, and loved it! A great place to visit, especially for their re-enactments... Here are some links, but the 'official' one - the last one - is under 'construction', but there might be some useful links on it (esp. to the Pennsylvania Navy). http://www.phila.gov/recreation/historical...ortmifflin.html http://www.thebrandywine.com/photoop/fort_mifflin.html http://www.fortmifflin.com/ When I get a chance I will post the upcoming events for the Fort, which I have at home. I know of a few events that may be of interest to folks here, including the Musketeer School http://home.att.net/~trmarr/ , the Seige of Fort Mifflin in Nove…

My best friend and I are throwing around the idea of a road trip sometime this winter. We'd like to go somewhere in Florida. She's been before (but not since she was 13) and I've never been further south than Virginia. Where would you good pirates recommend that two 26 year olds wouldn't be gett'n themselves killed? I want to go somewhere near the beach with a fun nightlife.

My friends, Prayers are needed now. Ship Runs Aground, Sailors Rescued OXNARD — A two-masted sailing ship with 20 crew members and students aboard went aground and was battered by waves near a rock jetty Monday evening, forcing dramatic rescues in heaving seas. Individuals in life jackets jumped off one by one and were picked up by rescuers on personal watercraft. All aboard were accounted for, the Ventura County Fire Department said on its Web site. The scene was broadcast live by ABC7 Eyewitness News, which reported that four people were rescued from the 58-degree water initially. Others leaped overboard as waves rolled the ship severely, pushing it toward the r…

HI guys. Does anyone know anything about a pirate-themed dinner show place going in where Buffalo Bill's used to be in Buena Park? I went by not too long ago and they've got a sign up that indicates it's going to be something piratey!

A co-worker of mine just got back from a week in Belize. She travels a lot, and she said this was the best vacation ever -- beautiful beaches, no crime. So she bought a time share here:Captain Morgan's Retreat Nothing particularily piratey about the place, but ya gotta love the name. Maybe she'll take me along sometime....

this place is at 450 Victoria in Oxnard Calif it is a sham! the outside bears a generic sign upon entering I got excited by the ten foot tall fiberglass pirate statue until I realized it was a Capt Morgan's promo piece this place is just a glorified low budget pub posing as a pirates den the centerpiece is a generic sports bar surrounded by cheap tables and chairs that look like someone's rec room/back porch decor consists of a few oars on the walls and some nautical pictures hanging in the hall on the way to the bathroom any real pirate fans will be truly disappointed by this place
