This is a message for anyone in the UK who is interested in Pirates and Pirate Re-enactment, who is not a subscriber to the UK Pirate Brotherhood forum. The 2009 Pilgrimage to Execution Dock is taking place on the 15th of February this year. The Pilgrimage to Execution Dock is an annual social gathering for pirate re-enactors in and around London. We gather in costume and visit some site of Pirate, or Maritime interest, before making our way to The Prospect Of Whitby Pub at Wapping, the site of Execution Dock, where, amongst others, Captain Kidd was hanged. There we drink a toast to those who have danced the Hempen Jig. This year we have arranged to put on a fund rai…

Just got word that the Whydah traveling exhibit "Real Pirates" has had it's opening at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia PA moved back a week, to May 31, 2008. The exhibit will be there through Nov. 2, 2008. (The old start date was May 24, so it is not too much of a change, but lest someone planned to go that first week, they would have been disappointed)

But where most maritime artists have chosen to embrace and preserve the rich heritage of this music, others have opted to take their fascination with the sea into surprising new directions. This year's Cedarburg Winter Festival will be a pirate themed event. They have contacted us here at the Port Washington Pirate Festival and asked for help in securing some pirates for the weekend. While we have enough volunteers at this point, this is an invitation for those of you interested to come in your garb and see some old friends. The festival is free to enter. The event takes place February 9-10 in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. It is about 12 miles north of Milwaukee, and just south of Port Washington for those of you who have been to our event. We're not running the event in any form, just working with them as it helps to promote our event in June. I thought I woul…
