Hi my name is Matthew Krogh and I am looking to get into the hobby. I have a unit in mind but was hoping to get some input for sutlers and any ways to cut corners on cost by doing stuff myself (to a small degree). Any help or advice for this hobby (as opposed to Civil War reenacting which I did for 10 years) is appreciated! Thanks! Regards, MK PS~My civil war confederate nickname was Bambi. I'm guessing that won't work in the pirate world, haha.

Well... It's been a year or so since I cruised these waters. Upon my last visit I mentioned I had little buccaneer on the way. So... Look ya searats! Her name is Jessica and she's almost 5 months old now. I've successfully taught her how to blow raspberries and we're working on the Arrr.

Hello everyone. I'm a new member although I've frequently visited this site in the past. I'm a pirate from Riverside, California. My family is relatively new to pirate reenacting, we started last summer and have been hooked ever since. I make hats and do fine art scrimshaw full time. The folks that we've met at Faires have all been amazing so I thought I'd join the forum to meet more pirates. I'm looking forward to meeting you all. Darrel Morris

Hello all! We are three student researchers at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida. Historical reenactment and interpretation are a major part of St. Augustine life (the oldest continuously inhabited European-established city in the continental U.S.!), so for an anthropology class we've decided to study both communities, locally and nationally, face-to-face and online. We are looking to discover what they have in common, how they are different, and what motivates individuals to participate in their respective communities. With your permission, we would like to view online forum activity in order to understand how reenactors and interpreters use online communitie…

I've been a pirate in hiding for a while now, only in the last year or so have I been coming out in public more frequently. My name is Jason and I write programs for apple devices. I currently live in Orlando, but the wife and I have plans to move to St. Augustine. We love St. Augustine, it's a city full of history plus the wife already has a job there . If by chance you find your way in St. Augustine I definitely recommend the Pirate and Treasure Museum. It's a little small, but it offers a big experience. Anyway, just thought I'd introduce myself to all you pirates out there.

For those of you who know my 10 year old nephew is dying of cancer. He is hanging in there and wishes to touch as many people as he can before going to heaven...his words. He has a page of Facebook called Brennan's Brigade as well as Texas Lonestar Chapter-Pink Heals Tour. Please like these pages for him. Also on the Pink Heals Tour he needs 9000 people to like his page and donations and they will paint an army truck pink for him for his cancer. Donations can be sent here if intrested- LoneStar Pink Heals, 1509 Sparrow Lane, Aubrey, TX 76227. Make checks or money orders payable to LoneStar Pink Heals and note that it is for Brennan's Brigade.

An article for your enjoyment today! Massachusetts voters can now register as ‘Pirates’ The Massachusetts Election Division has approved the Massachusetts Pirate Party as a political designation, allowing voters in the state to register as a "Pirate." The party strives to increase government transparency, promote personal privacy, reinforce the spread of knowledge through copyright reform, and abolish patents. "We live in a country founded on the ideals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness," the Massachusetts Pirate Party said in a statement. "For many people, those ideals are not real. The Supreme Court and Congress have expanded the power of corporations a…

It's time for the Secret Gift Exchange. Those of you who've been around know we've done this for the last several years with a reasonable amount of success and a few of us/you were looking forward to it again this year. So here's how its going to work: Who is eligible: In the past we've limited the enrollment to only established members of Pyracy Pub. This year, I'll simply split the participants into two categories one for established members and one for enthusiastic newcomers. I feel that this would put those newer members on equal footing, as both parties would be taking a risk with unknowns. Regardless of membership status, by signing up you solemnly agree tha…
