im currently writing my own pirate fiction. right now im planning on making it just a short story but it may turn out to be long enough for a book the plot- young louis roberts is a 13 year old boy, son of a prof of nautical history. his dad the prof. has long been obsessed with the legend of the flying dutchman, insisting that the legend is tied to fact. when a ship wreck is discovered 20 miles off the coast of charleston north carolina near a small island his dad is asked to help, bringing louis with him. while sailing from the coast to the small island they hit a storm and louis gets knocked over board. when a ship comes to rescue him he finds that it is a pirate …

To all the South and South Western Florida friends ..... make a bowl o' rum punch and settle in for a bit of a blow!! To everybody in the Keys, loosen the storm moorings and fuel the generators. Southwest Friends, I think y'all will be OK, just put the TV up on blocks and break out the sandbags ... Those of us in Central Florida ..... no real excitement just business as usual ..... a few squall lines -n- feeder bands. Looks like L. A.* & the Panhandle are gonna take the brunt of this one. Above all be safe and take care of yourselves. Probably makes Mr. Redwake happy that he's in the mountains for once. *Lower Alabama

My grandmother is dying so I am heading out tomorrow for the Phoenix area (Chandler) and will be riding my Honda Shadow Sabre the whole way. I'll be taking MO highway 71 to Fort Smith Arkansas and pick up I-40 there to Flagstaff, then down I-17 to the valley. If there's any crew along the route that would be kind enough to offer a contact number in case I encounter problems, I'd be greatly obliged and grateful for any support. I don't do heat very well, and our four-wheel vehicles are both well over 200k milage and in need of tires/repairs, so the bike is my only alternative. I will check here at the library in the morning prior to leaving. Any contact info would be …

I fancy myself a 20-something man-child, and been favorin' piracy for many an All Hallow's Eve for over a score of years, as well as always havin' had a keen likin' of nautical history. Bein' captain of me own life's ship now,I be lookin' t' try me hand (or hook) at modern-day piracy reenactin' with a crew o' like minded bilge-rats like yerselves. This grown-up piracy be all relatively new t' me, so any and all souls who wish, please come a-wind t' me and have a chate with a new mate. -Captain's Log 23rd May, Year of Our Lord 2012 Capt. "Dangerous" Dan, Former Pirate Lord of the Great Lakes

Ahoy me'earties, This is the second time I've been to Hastings (in the UK) for a pirate world record attempt and the 2nd time they've broken it! Over 14,000 pirates showed up in Hastings on Sunday afternoon to set the new record for most pirates in one place :) it's actually the 4th time I've been performing at a world record breaking attempt, I guess we're the lucky charm! As I was touring with Pyrates! at the time it's featured on our little tour trailer below: there will be a slightly longer feature in the next few weeks :)

This is more of a question to do with the modern reenactor and festival-goer. When YOU go to faires, reenactments and festivals, what accent do you speak with? Does the character your portraying come from another nation besides the American colonies? Just curious, as I'm currently trying to find a nationality and accent that would fit my character. also, if this is the wrong subforum for this post, please feel free to move it.

ahoy all, i'm sad to report that the Deltaville Maritime museum is currently on fire and it looks like the main building and pavilion will be a total loss. This is the home of the Explorer and where we base a lot of our activities out of. They have drained both town pools and are pulling water from the creek to work the pumps. will keep you posted....... we just can't catch a break this summer!

What was it that lured you to piracy? I'm guessing that every pirate here has a tale to tell of how they joined "the sweet trade" I started out writing in a cyber novel on Pan Historia. In order to write with some level of respectability, I started researching pirates and their history. I was fascinated by the contradictions- The advanced level of democracy and disregard for race and social class standing among shipmates, coupled with absolute brutality and disregard for human life and suffering. I started reading and reading and reading. Pretty soon I was hooked. Years before, I'd been involved in a wild west gunfighters reenactment group and wanted to do something…
