  1. Just picked up Isle of Swords by Wayne Batson and I'm about halfway through it. So far, it's great! It's about an amnesiac boy picked ip by the stereotypical pirate crew, but it's non-stop action, and keeps you turning the page for more. What really drew me in was the woman who gave it only one star on Amazon. The reason?: "This is WAY too violent to be considered a children's book!" And that's what sold me on it. Thanks, lady!
  2. I always was fascinated with the ocean when I was a kid and I learned to really appreciate liberty and freedom at a very young age. When I found out that pirates were some of the first democracies who had black, white, indian, etc. crew all of which had an equal vote, I was hooked. I also like the anti-authority aspect of it. When these men and women didn't want to be slaves to an empire any more, they went out on their own and made their own rules. I know that modern fiction has softened their image a lot. Most pirates were no angels..... But who is?
  3. I've had a VHS copy since the early 90's. I've finally worn it out this year so the DVD is just in the nick of time for me!!!!
  4. Has anybody read "Long John Silver: The True and Eventful History of My Life of Liberty and Adventure As a Gentleman of Fortune and Enemy to Mankind" by Bjorn Larsson, Tom Geddes (Translator) ? I just ordered it from Amazon and heard it is the "unofficial" autobiography of the notorious scoundrel. So Peter and the Starcatchers was worthwhile, eh? I've passed it many a time at the olde book shoppe but never had the brass to risk reading it.
