To think of or say a prayer for the families in Greece. So many lives were claimed by the fire and Greece will probably lose some of its history as well. One report I heard tonight that an elderly man was arrested for starting one of the fires...

My old hometown (old..as in established 1680), once again put on it's finest show ever! The oldest 4th July parade in the United States, which dates back to 1785 to celebrate independence from the Mother country. and naturally, the pirates once again plundered this Atlantic seaport in full fashion: No parade is complete without Captain Jack Sparrow, we had at least two: This boat sailed singlehandedly from bristol to New Zealand to Cape Horn back to Bristol in 400 days, now that's a hearty soul! Some friends of family invited us to their cookout at their 1847-built house complete with pirate/tiki bar, how cool is that!!: The ifreworks on the harbor…

I heard this news on Friday night while still down in San Diego for the Comic Con. Johnny Depp will be Barnabas Collins for a new Dark Shadows movie. It just seems so bizarre, but yet interesting too. Johnny is a great actor and I'm sure he can pull it off. It definitely will be the talk of the DS festival coming up in August I'm attending in New York. Jonathan Frid, the original Barnabas from the 60's series, is finally making an appearance after many years. I can't wait to attend this event, it's going to be a lot of fun! Anyway, here's the article about all this: Johnny Depp is getting in touch with his inner vampire. Warner Bros. is teaming with Depp's Inf…

I'm going to start a new thread here, so either it works or it doesn't . I'm curious if anyone really believes in such a thing, and if so, what have you done to go green? For instance, for myself, I have done, or considering the following: -installed a number of fluourescent light bulbs to replace incandescent bulbs (except for the bathroom and a living room light because of the 1 mimute warm-up delay)...this is 40% less power. -I travel the eastern seaboard US by train....we are electrified here. The highways here are parking lots (from Boston to DC) on a friday afternoon anyway. Trains are a fraction of energy vs. people per car. -I'm strongly considering a w…

Why Did the Bridge Fall? Time Article It may take several days to figure out how many people died in Wednesday's collapse of the I-35W bridge in Minneapolis — the official toll has hit five, but nobody expects it to stay there. Between 20 and 30 people are still missing, and while some of them may be lying in hospitals, unconscious and unidentified, plenty of cars are still submerged in the Mississippi River. Anyone trapped inside — and there are such people — is no longer alive. So recovery crews are picking their way carefully around the twisted steel and broken concrete that could shift without warning in the muddy current. Investigators, meanwhile, from the Nationa…

Im curious, there is so much history here, so many intrests so I am asking a few simple questions. So if you were a time traveler... 1.) What period would you visit and why? 2.) What do you wish to see and do or accomplish..just remember that altering the past changes the future. 3.) Would you bring back something to remind you of your trip or several things and if so what would they be? 4.) Would you share your momentos with others or keep them private and explain your reason for doing either.

In the category of "Who gives an at's rass", I was in Key West with family in April 06, and saw a 9000 ft megayacht (whatever it was) docked at Mallory Square, and like any dumb tourist would, I uttered "who owns this"? and some folks replied Merv Griffin. ...and there he was, on the aft deck , fat and shirtless, his only company was his fat droopy shar-pei, with a bandana around it's neck. He gave my mother the oddest stare. Well, now he's gone. That's my Merv griffin sighting story.

What's your favorite playlist you've put together so far on your iPod/MP3 player? Because they can be so large, try and narrow down the list to your favorite 10-15 songs.

A lil' ol' RPG-game I used to play on a Harry Potter forum, some years ago... dunno if you'll like it... "So here we are, on a peacefull lil' isle, in a peacefull lil' village... Captain's Corner. Keen on peace 'n tranquility, the villagers be. But nowhere to be found, th' last couple o' days, they be. Because ye can only can reach th' village by ship, pirates sometimes come aboard... Ever since a pirate ship has come, they plunder at night 'n even kill... Th' villagers panic, as they do not know who th' pirates be. Their defence: the noose. But they do not always just hang th' guilty pirates..." The Pirate in Villagersclothes is an RPG-game, but with a goal. There are…

This co-ed volunteer group I belong to has decided to have a baby shower for one of the really active members. I expect it will be unlike most traditional baby showers, but it will still be a shower. (I've not yet attended a "traditional" baby shower...thank God.) I've had to attend two wedding showers in my life: my own (all that pain and suffering endured [er, I'm talking about the shower] only to wind up divorced) and a "couples" shower put on by a friend. It actually wasn't that bad, but it also wasn't that good. It had some of those fool games that seem to go with these affairs, although not quite nearly at the scale of the other one I went to. They're just so...…

You scored as Zorro. Zorro is the bane of the corrupt officials of Old California, a Spanish Robin Hood, a cavalier caballero who robs from the rich, gives to the poor, and always leaves his trademark "Z" behind as a reminder that when the people need him, he will always appear on his black stallion. Which Action Hero would you be???? Hmm a female Zorro in a black leather corset and pants???? Aye I think I can do that..I have a fondness for whips..*grins* And instead of a trademark "Z" Ill leave an "S"...Hmm hey IronBess has Disney considered a female Zorro?

I've been at my job for 5 years as of July 17th. We had our regular staff meeting on July 25th and they announced I was Employee of the Month. Of course tho, that means for the month of August actually. They have one pic of me in the lobby on a plaque. But the main picture with the accolades hangs in the elevator for all to see. Here's the main picture:

"Underdog" opens today. Anyone planning on seeing it. I want to see it, cause the dog is so cute and I think the voice over is cute. I remember watching the homely looking original Underdog. I miss my pup so much.

Has anyone watched this. I think it's great except for how horrible the men can be about women. But I love the old stuff I remember from back then, the clothes, the old cig lighters, the cars, the homes, the decorations, the booze, the cigs, the typewriters etc. Pretty controversal show, but I like it so far.

Yep getting to be my fave time of year..but the Fort Zachary post in PiP got me to thinking..How many live near haunted places, what is the history behind such? My house is haunted and I have a pic with an orb in it as well. So im going to start this off with my town Round Rock, Texas, I live in the historical section close to Brushy Creek where the rocks in the creek still bear the tracks of the old conestoga wagons. Sam Bass the outlaw is buried very close to my house, there is also an unmarked slave cemetary there, and bad vibes when walks in. Most of the concrete over the places of the deceased are cracked open. I have only been there once and that in daylight. …

There's the reaaaaaalllly sarcastic movie site called the agony booth and I stumbled across their, er, recap? of a movie called Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny. It's quite long (11 pages), but you'll probably be falling out of your chair laughing by the end of it if you enjoy this sort of humor. I could hardly catch my breath by page 10. http://www.agonybooth.com/santa_bunny/ (Duchess, you simply must check this out. Seriously.)
