So many lives were claimed by the fire and Greece will probably lose some of its history as well. One report I heard tonight that an elderly man was arrested for starting one of the fires... Many people have been hospitalized with burns, respiratory distress and injuries. The heat wave and the winds have caused the fires that were set close together in time, to spread. Please donate to Red Cross if you can, as they spread their relief efforts worldwide. There are a number of choices for where you can donate. Lady Alyx Posted August 29, 2007 Share Posted August 29, 2007 This is awfull, totally awfull! I work with a greek engineer gal I should ask her if everyone back home is okay. When I heard the coverage of the story I was so saddened...they said that a french tourist couple going for a hike was caught in the blaze and when they recovered the bodies they were clutching to each other...how sad!
