Red-Handed Jill
^ It has to be a toss-up between cockroaches and mosquitos. < Back in the Dark Ages when I used to clean and test sewers and storm drains, I encountered more than my share of cockroaches. Ransom
^ When I was in the SCA at a 12th Night banquet, a bunch of us got a casting cards from someone filming a fantasy movie for HBO. Very low budget, as the reason they asked us was we already had costumes. Had to go for a costume audition, then spent one very hot, uncomfortable summer day in a large warehouse somewhere in Burbank, mostly sitting around sweating in four layers of Elizabethan clothing. But, the caterers were good, so we ate well. And they paid in cash. Never heard of the film, so figure it ended up buried in a storage unit somewhere. < I like old and new movies. My favorite old movie is Laurence of Arabia. V Pass the question on. ...schooners, islands, and maroons and buccaneers and buried gold... Cheeky Actress
^Well, it's been a while but it has happened. It was one of my first 'movie themed' outfits I created way back in the early 1990s. I decided that I was going to make a ‘cat suit’ from Bat Returns. Well, if you’ve never worked with PVC material before, it can be a learning experience! After a month of design, drafting and assembling I was ready to wear it out on Halloween. Thought I wasn’t the only Cat Woman walking about that evening, I was the only one in an outfit made of ‘rain coat’ material. Had a great time that evening, but on the way back to the parking garage as I went to take a seat in my car the back seam of my cat suit bottom blew out! Thank God it happened at the end of the night! < Lesson Learned: Always test-run a new outfit – take it for a drive BEFORE an event! V Passing on the question... Ransom
^ Never actually ripped something out to the point I couldn't wear it, but stepped on a lot of hems, that pulled pleats from the waistband of the skirt. Usually done while tromping over grass at a SCA tourney or war. < I'm kinda eclectic in my movie tastes. I can go from Casablanca to Underworld without going into culture shock. LOL V As a kid, did you ever try to dress like a character in your favorite movie? (Thinkig of the hours I spent with a pillowcase tied around my head while wearing a long bathrobe, trying to look like said Laurence of Arabia ) ...schooners, islands, and maroons and buccaneers and buried gold... Lily Alexander
Yes, sort of. At the Miami Airport (I think that's the one), we were returning from Aruba and they lost an entire plane load of baggage. They stuck us all in a room for about 3 hours, wouldn't let us leave (or smoke) until they found it. It started to get mighty ugly. I picked some lilies from the yard yesterday, my whole house smells so good.
