I don't want to burst anyone's bubble. Hidding a treasure sounds really fun, but we are forgetting that it is "Key" West. A key is not an island, it is formed from old corral beds. In most places you can only dig down around a foot before you hit solid coral and limestone. We can bring picks to get down deep, but it will be alot of work. Near the Southern Most Marker is a Marriot Hotel. They have a man made beach with tons of sand. A large pier goes out where many people could watch/ film the event as the pirates row in and bury the treasure on the beach. We'll just have to avoid the crazy jet skiers. If we contact the Marriot, they might really go for the idea! I remember them being nice to us in years past.

It's OK that it's out of period. So is the Civil War fort and all the schooners down in KW. We'll all still have a blast! Captain Jim, where would you be "knocking off" some oars for this boat? I haven't been able to locate any over 8' long for under a $100.

I talked to a fire juggler last week, that told me he uses wrapped denim during his act. I took his advice and built several by tightly wrapping about 14 4' strips on each. I wrapped this in wire and moments before we stormed the event dunked them in gasoline and lit them. He said it is important to not soak them for long, because they will burn out fast. The gas acts as an accelerant and the denim burns slowly yet consistantly. I would say we got about 20-30 minutes out of each. Several worked very well because they lit us perfectly, so that everyone can see our "get- ups" at night. Also found an effective way for smoke grenados. I wrapped three of the larger smoke stick fireworks together with duct tape. Wrapped the fuses together and covered the bundle in burlap. 4 of these put out alot of smoke for our entrance. With the muskets and pistols firing, smoke in the air, and 6 pirates rushing in with torches, the event planner got her money's worth! P.S. We got 2 inches of rain the night before, so no worries about a fire hazzard.

I can't remember his name, but one of Davy Jones' crew carries around chainshot in II and III, which he uses as a hand-held weapon.

Does anyone know how to make a long lasting torch to carry around at a night time event? Last time I found a nice piece of driftwood, wrapped the end in a long strip of muslin, wrapped that tightly in wire, and soaked that in pine pitch for a week. When it came to lighting it, it worked great for all of 5 minutes. Has anyone tried another type of formula or have a solution for it to last about 30 minutes?

Can anyone "galvanize" for the battle? I'll be bringing my early colonial scout rig, just in case Harry's troops gets outnumbered. We wouldn't want a cake-walk for the pirates, would we?

After many searches, I still have not been able to find the size dimensions of a stern flown naval ensign. Preferably 17th- 18th centuries. If anyone could help, it would be much appreciated.

I liked that Will is killed by his own blade. A "fine" sword to die by I must say. But answer me this. Calypso mentioned that Davy Jones was not always the monster he is. It was after he cut out his heart that he began to change. If Bootstrap cut out Will's, will he begin to change as well?

I went to see the movie for a second time, to catch some things I might have missed opening night. I picked up some new dialogue through the mumbling and enjoyed it all yet again. This time I noticed something new. Now this might sound cheesy. At the end, when Jack is looking at the map, a la Fountain of Youth, the camera zooms into and centers on the Florida Keys. Is this a nod from the Disney folks to a certain festival held in Key West? Hmmm??? Did anyone else see this, or was I imagining things again?

Add me to the roster this year, I just ordered my tickets! It'll be great to see some new faces as well as old. I've camped out the last 2 times I was down for PiP, but this will be the first "period camp" I've been in down there. I am so looking forward to this year!

Maybe someone can talk to Harry and find out who catered the event 3 years back. I left 2 full-size whiskey barrels at the caterer's house to use next time I was down, but alas I haven't yet. It was less than a mile from the fort. I hope to make it back this year.

If'n you or the crew has a chance to venture inland, Charlestowne Landing ( the recreation of the original settlement) not far from where you're in port, is rebuilding the "Adventure" at their wharf. She is a 1670 Sloop built in the 1970's that recently sank at her dockage. They pulled her out and are reconstucting her. State funds you know, takes awhile to get anything done.

I see empty slips at the downtown marina, I wonder why they said it was full? Did they mention tieing up to the waterfront seawall? Many ships do the same. There is also the Ladys Island Marina, Skull Creek Marina, Harbortowm Marina, and the seawall on the Savannah River. I could also get you permission to tie up to Old Fort Jackson in Savannah if you like.
