  1. That would be Silverhawk of the Tortuga Mutineers.
  2. Charlie, Hands down! Sorry Nigel
  3. You were there in spirit. We wish that you had been able to go. Next year we'll come and drag you down if need be.
  4. I hope you had a grand time in Key West. It was few days after 2003 PiP that I joined the Pub as well. Cheers mate!
  5. If any of you blokes can catch some, bring them down to my fire. I'll pluck em', clean em', and cook em' up for you a la' Key West.
  6. Huzzah, we got's ourselves a boat!
  7. Just think , "The Great Pirate Attack" PiP 2008... starring... The infamous pirate, Captain Cascabel, leading the seaside attack. Braze the brave, his first mate, leading the attack on the fort. His first line, the deadly Bone Islanders, Spike, Scarlett Jai, and Nigel General Harry, defending his fort with devastating artillery. Governor Yellowbeard, nervously pacing about the ramparts. His scribe, Willam Red Wake, attempting to calm his nerves with rum. Captain Sterling, leader of the Royal Guard, clashing with the advancing pirates. And many more talented actors/ actresses thrown into the mayhem.
  8. We have a year to locate a boat, or at least convert a modern one. There is one pulled up behind the fort. I heard it needs a little work to get her seaworthy. I wonder if another state park in Florida might have one? Fort King George in Darien, GA , 30 minutes from the Florida line , has a circa 1720 scout boat that might be used (crossing fingers). It would be awesome if we could get several boats/ ships to get involved.
  9. And to Nigel, it was great seeing you ol'pal! Your artwork is incredible, keep it up. Don't be a stranger
  10. It was a pleasure meeting you as well. Fort Meyers wasn't it? Let me know about your boat, we'll have to get her seaworthy again.
  11. Excellent stuff and a really nice guy to talk with.
  12. Here's a few more ideas to throw out. Spectator seating/ viewing area for both the fort and the Pirate camp. This way evryone is near the action. We convince a schooner captain to anchor off the point with a longboat in tow. A small detatchment of soldiers are stationed outside the fort. The Union jack is lowered on the ship as the Jolly Roger is raised. The longboat approaches the beach with the pirate captain, as a cannon shot from the ship signals the other pirates to swarm from the camps. A few soldiers are killed or wounded as they retreat to the safety of the fort. Lot's of shots are exchanged, the schooner raises her anchor and exchanges volleys with a second schooner approaching. The pirates rush the gates, sword fights and close hand combat is hard fought. The pirates are repulsed and the victory shots are traded with the Naval schooner. And the next battle is one by the pirates and such as. I wonder if we could do two battles a day, one at 12 and the other at 4?
  13. We can cover the bodies in peanut butter and seed to get some birds to peck away at their rotting corpses. French fries for seagulls
  14. I so wish that the Crewe of the Archangel had been allowed to assemble their gallows. It would have been a sight to see, someone dancing a hemp jig for the crowd. Maybe next year?
  15. I agree. We should have either celebrated our victory, retreated back to the beach, or have come up with something funny to do.
  16. I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions on how we could improve on our battle. This year it seemed that this brought alot of people to watch the event. I hope we have an even larger crowd and more firing guns next year. Some of my suggestions: - More Royal Regiment and Militia - The Wolf plays an active part during the fight, supporting fire - More camps reaching out along the water's edge, to give us an area to advance from (not ducks in a row down the path) - Hidden mortar charges to simulate cannon hits, possibly in the moat as well - More muskets to complement the pistols - We close in more to the fort, the moat's edge, so that the crowd's get a better view - A gate of some sort to break through into the fort. This could also help the ticketers at the entrance. - A script to work from I really enjoyed participating in this years fight, as I am sure everyone involved did as well!
  17. And that's why we love you Harry. You made the event a very safe, family- fun event. Having some drinks with your pals at night once the folks were gone is the only time that should be allowed. Your guidance before the battles, along with Braze and Tom, effectively kept it running smoothly. Thanks again for a great event!
  18. Sober? Sober? When did we have time to be sober? Oh look at that lovely mead. Mmmm... I had a blast with all you guys and gals. I just wish I could remember it all, heh heh.
  19. I wanted to let everyone who attended this year's PiP know how much I really enjoyed the experience. It's great to be part of such wonderful people , who care so much for one another. The enormous talent we saw from Cascabel, Braze, William Red Wake, Spike and the Bone Island Buccaneers, Tom and Susan w/ Oreo, Finbar, and of course Bawdy Bee. I was happy to see again Patrick and so glad Don made it down. It was a pleasure to share drinks with my new mates, Stinky Tudor, Mission, Bilge Monkey, Silkie, Captain Sterling, Silver Hawk, Amanjiria, Capatain Jim, Mary Diamond, and Nigel. To all my other mates whose names have been erased by the weekend's elixers, I hope to see you again around the campfires and pubs. My family, The Pyrates of the Coast, who work so hard to create the most amazing events, I pledge my services for all time. Julie and all of her help making sure we have this weekend in Key West. And to Harry and his "Merry Rangers", thanks for allowing these wonderful pirates to invade their park and help us create our own true paradise! To all the Seadogs who come in 2008, warm fires, cold drinks, and the greatest time of their lives awaits!
  20. Harry and the Friends of the Fort along with the Bone Island Bucs created a wonderful stage for us this year. I hope next year to use it to it's full potential. A large overhead canvas tarp and more maritime/ judical props. A large hanging signboard with times for presentations and other events will work nice. M.A.d'Dogge and Mission's surgical demonstrations, William Red Wake discussing shipbuilding and drafting, Foxe (hint hint) with his wealth of GAoP knowledge, and many many more would contribute much to this great festival.
  21. I haven't heard anymore talk about the boat. Does anyone know if it is still available?
  22. I like the color choices. Might we consider painting the outside hull antique orange, the inside white, and red and gold trim on the rails and stern. I think that white is a modern look on boats and we would want it to look more historic. P.S. I saw the same color scheme on a boat in an episode of Horatio Hornblower.
  23. There is no surf in KW. I wish there was, I surf myself, but the shallow reefs around Truman Annex kill all the swells on the eastern side. At best it gets a little chop and that's it. Maybe during A tropical depression/ storm/ hurricane there could be surf. The most difficult thing with water activities, is the current. Several years back when we had the first Walk. the Plank Championship, I rowed the judge out to the Wolf from the beach side. The current was running probably 10 to 15 knots. I had a tough time at first until I got used to it . The other 3 boats spent their afternoon trying to get close with no avail. Louie threw me a line from the Wolf so I wouldn't have to row during the contest. I didn't get a chance to go on the Fort side, but I think the current will probably be the same. I would be smart to have a little Kodiak standing by with some modern propulsion. Heck time it right, bury the treasure, and drift down past the Beach and up to the fort. No fighting the current and having a nice scenic trip to the encampments to boot. I'm in!
  24. Has anyone seen this book ? I thumbed through a copy a few days ago and found a lot of backgroud info of the POTC's. It's a book written by Gibb's for his son, filled with illustrations and letters, and enhanced by modern writers. It tells Jack's story, pre-pirate, Jack's relationship with Beckett, why the Pearl is black, which pirates were lords of what seas, and much more. Some of the same stuff reprinted, but new character information post and pre movies.
  25. I had Cascabel eyeing me for the whole month of May! ( Don's 2007 Calendar)
