  1. The Wishes fireworks are STELLAR. And their Halloween fireworks were equally amazing!
  2. Hey 4 story tall burlap sack slides could still make a comeback! ANYTHING would be better than that godawful Stitch "ride" ...it should be called a "sit".
  3. Now the funniest thing at the show has got to be when the "comic relief" pirate takes the jolly boat around the ship, using an electric outboard instead of oars!
  4. One change I greatly look forward to and hope for is for the cannons to be much louder in the fort seige. These days they just sound like tennis ball launchers. :)
  5. I am floored by how many Irish, British and Scottish families I see in Disneyworld...at times it seems like literally half of the park!
  6. Both Land AND World, or just Land? I've often asked the CMs here in Orlando and they said they haven't heard anything about it, yet, just the same rumors we hear.
  7. I've been to the Orlando Pirates Adventure twice since moving here, and for entertaining out-of-town family, it's great fun. Actually my favorite part was the pre-show appetizer/bar hour, it's in a massive room set up like a pirate-esque shanty town, with some great gift shops that are stuffed with all the usual pirate items out there, and they have some nice ravioli appetizers. There is also a nice pirate musuem with some good exhibits to browse thru. Sure, the "pirates" in the cast look more like Gypsy Wrestlers, but it's fun for the kids. My big complaint is that they bill "unlimited" beer and wine, but it's a LOT of work to get them to refill yer mug more than a couple times. The later evening show is longer, and contains more violent fighting and stunts, as well as a post-show disco party with live piratess singers, and you can mingle with the cast. I've been to a few dinner theaters, and while by no means an expert, the Orlando pirates is the best so far. Though I hear good things about Arabian Nights.
  8. Nice! That was a cool show.
  9. At the risk of being a party pooper and stirring up old embers, I must toss in that there is no evidence whatsover of western european sailors wearing headscarves as we know them to be today. It seems to have been adopted somewhere along the way as "pirate fashion". I'm not saying they weren't worn, as we just don't know for sure. Only that we don't have verifiable period evidence of it as a trend. Me, I'm a big fan of the look, I think it's quite cool.
  10. No way! It's clearly Sportacus! Any other parents of young kids will know this guy well.
  11. Awesome! Guess I have to make a hop over to the Pirates Bazaar this weekend! Wish they had the impaled skeleton with the gull's nest in his hat.
  12. There's no doubt that seamen of the time were hardcore...had to be just to survive. But to play devil's advocate, EVERYONE living 300 years ago had it MUCH harder than we do, and lacked so many of the modern comforts that we take for granted and that make us "soft". Heck I bet your average 18th century scullery maid was a lot tougher than the toughest of us. Had we been born and raised into such world though, these hardships would be the norm, just another part of daily life. But sailors definitely had it extra hard.
  13. Pleasure was all mine, Sam! Thanks!
  14. Yeah I wish they'd put one of that caliber in St Augustine. Anyone been to Pirate Soul yet? I'm dying to get down there.
  15. Yes it is, and it's just about the coolest town any pirate could hope for. A truly amazing place.
  16. Yeah I'm reading the "Pirates and the Lost Templar Fleet" book now...while fun, it's quite far fetched and most of the book is incredibly implausible. I'm at the Oak Island stuff right now, and there appears to be NOTHING this author won't credit the Knights Templar with!
  17. Yes that is a classic. I also enjoy "I wouldn't want my Olio to get Olio"...whatever the heck that means, it's funny as can be coming from Sir Beavis.
  18. Do not anger my bunghole! hehehyeah. Titikaka! Weeoo!! Ahem. Sorry. I can't resist a little Cornholio.
  19. Fear not, I've got some smaller & more affordable stuff going up soon as well. Keep a weather eye out!
  20. Thanks! Yes I certainly do, everything from ink to watercolor to oil, humorous to landscape//portraits.
  21. Many thanks to you all! Stay tuned, there is more stuff to come. :)
  22. Ahoy! I decided it was high time to pop some of my pirate artwork on Ebay. So if you're interested, you can view it here: Pirates by moonlight! Enjoy!
  23. Exactly, my friend. The Faires are such bubbling cauldrons of diverse types, and it's endlessly entertaining to watch it simmer!
  24. Nice! I've been jonesin' for a good 17th Century flick ever since Girl With A Pearl Earring.
  25. Oh I agree, they are and SHOULD be all about fun! But it seems that in the past 10 years or so, they have gotten SO wildly removed from the Renaissance they should just be rename them to "Fantasy Faire" or something like that. When you actually see someone dressed in clothing appropriate for the Renaissance, they look out of place among the pirates, Orcs, thieves, corsairs, Klingons, and dudes in black denim with Kill Bill Swords, etc. I'm not knocking Ren Faires at all, heck I love 'em! It's just humorous what they've morphed into!
