I think it helps if the person "calling the cadence" or singing the rhythm actually knows the rhythm of the work being performed or even better still is participating in the work being performed, even if its only to feel the rhythm required. If you have to perform in rhythm with everyone involved it will naturally fall in the right place,... of course that is if you have a natural sense of rhythm.. not everyone has musical talent,... for some its a gift, some develop it over time... some never do... we all have our strengths... thats why there were shanty men who held the job... they were naturals at it. Its an important position ...and has its set of skills as does the position of a Navigator.. not everyone can do it.

You can't let luck play any part of it, it wasn't a very "lucky" year for us, but the therapudic values of that gathering of people combined with the "magic" of the location, far outweigh whatever you have to do to attend, it has continued to be the high point of our year even outshining the holidays. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

They have a cool sound too. I love it its like Industrial meets classical, meets goth punk. I really like Abney Park though, they even have a folk sound thrown in there. I've never been one to play with loops and sounds...I'm interested to see if i could write something in that style. We need a backstory to the crew... have you named the ship yet? and Patrick what's your job... are you our mad scientist inventor?? What's your Airship Pirate name?? I don't think I caught that on here.

Steam Punk is starting to invade.. I saw quite a few people on Sunday at the medieval fair in Steam Punk gear. One guy had just started his outfitting, but boy did he look born the part! He was so tall and lanky with thin white hair. He had some handicap and was on a little scooter that he had planned to trick out. really cool guy. Patrick we lived in LA for 20 years and i never had the chance to go to burning man, mostly because I didn't want to go unless I was part of some tribe. i knew it wouldn't be as much fun alone. I do hope this will materialize i would love to go with a bunch of my pub friends. Glad you started sharing this on here. BTW what's marscon??

She wanted to wear fancy clothes and lots of purple and her character was going to be rich and mean so I dubbed her Violent Violet Vane (figured I could make her Charles Vanes illegitimate daughter)... bit of a tongue twister though, of course most people would just call her Violet or Ms. Vane.
