CHEEKY: Blame the Marine He's the one who suggested practicing to music (he's right it helps with fluidity ... still... The thought of getting so used to using music made me laugh at the thought of Lily and Sterling. Still a lady having another reason to make a man meet her demands... well it keeps him on his toes. Diosa quoted Daffy well, so I'll reiterate. "You ain't got a chance. I'm the hero of this picture and you know what happens to the villain!

Only if I get the line "you ain't got a chance. I'm the hero of this fight and you know what happens to the villain!" "So what's to know??"
-
I can see it now... Captain Sterling orders the attack...Cheeky: " Damn it Sterling where's my boarding music" I can hear Sterling sigh from here.

OMG why didn't I think of it sooner,,, here's the perfect training video!! THE SCARLETT PUMPERNICKELL!!

I agree when your talking weapons. Don't you think its a good idea to have fighters do hand to hand before ever going to weapons though? At least then they can be a part of fights until they are safe enough to use a weapon. I think people start to feel left out in the training period and I worry that people rush to progress too quickly and thats how they get hurt. If they can learn the basics of stage fighting first and learn how to make a fight LOOK like a fight they might feel more comfortable and have better control of their body by the time they pick up a weapon. Just my thought. And to be honest I'm delaying my ability to use my sword.. that would mean I'm a long way away from fighting with steel, my conditioning is way off. I am willing to put it aside if it means in the long run I'm a more believable stage fighter.

starting with foot work is great, I think its often too easily overlooked when people are learning to wield weapons. First and foremost you learn to have good spatial instincts dancing around one another. Its important to do that safely before even swinging a free hand. Hey I've seen people bump into each other and get hurt. Good start to your site. Thanks for sharing it. I wish Dead-eye were in this century and could contribute to this discussion. He really has some brilliant teaching techniques. I only wish we were all closer and could get together regularly. I'm grateful for the pub because its great that we've started talking about this. I'm sure over the next year we'll start to move towards some kind of common technique. I'm inspired! I am definitely going to go work on my technique for a bit tonight, run my points with the scabbard on for a bit - the extra weight should help build those muscles a little faster I'm way out of shape.

so I only dropped U, scrambled them, and Aye, there it was or should I say they were on a TRAY can I NOT scramble them??... OK fine call me ZURT, but I guess I didn't understand all the rules... OK I just re-read them, I'll do it right now. Doesn't say anything about slag...its not foreign its in a dictionary I think that would pass scrabble rules. Am I playing right now? sorry I get overly excited when I come across some way to be clever, so I throw out the rules... i'm not always big on rules. Oh yeah again my word is ZURT

Its seems to me at least among the re-enactors on here, if we could come up with a list of moves and names that we can agree on collectively, I know it would mean taking a few steps back for everyone, but, if each of the fight masters were to have a MASTER meeting and put their techniques together into one system what progress that would be. If we were ALL operating from the same system, we could easily share choreography that was well understood. Back to dance again but if for example I told another dancer ... Fouetté rond de jambe en tournant, Glissade, Développé, Arabesque, Coupé jeté en tournant. that dancer could re-create those exact moves in seconds. You could even go as far as counting out down beats if you wanted to be meticulous about it and be able to dance to the SAME music without ever having been in the same room to practice until days before the show. In no time with little rehearsal together, they could concievably perform the dance to perfection. A common language is the key to us being able to do this safely. The point for me is if everyone is using their own system and their own language, as far apart as we all are from one another we will never see the day that we can really do this together safely. Maybe the masters should consider a pow-wow. Again, we all might have to take a step back in our training and re-learn some names for things, but in the long run this could result in a big step forward for pirate re-enacting.

Aye Captain.... yer not supposed to WARN her...
-
Its "rare" that he wears a "tare" but he, unwelcome, raised the "tarp" door of her "Yurt" so the "tart" challenged the peeping "turt" Now its best advised he start wearing it if he wants to protect certain parts of his body from being returned to him on a TRAY
-
Oh yeah catch me ya TURT!

Neat little trinket, thicker than I expected. Thanks for the photos. I'll stick with my first guess. I really do think it was for perfume, might explain all the corrosion too. I'd fight Silkie for it but I'm no fool, an Irish temper is nothin to mess with.

Ohh I KNOW how much practice goes in thats why I'm not fighting yet. I mean... that fight you saw Jai and Dead-eye perform I think they have been rehearsing that fight for 2 years now and it SHOWS!! I haven't been able to make enough practices to actually partner with someone long enough to get to that level of proficiency. Thats why I don't perform. And to be honest, I haven't had much free time to even go through the choreography on my own. I am finally in a place where I can find a little time to start working on muscle memory on my own until I can get back down to KW with the crew. Was curious as well....Have you journaled your moves and the choreography and do you have standard choreographed fights that ALL your fighters learn and perform? If so I'd love to read them.

hmmm a little confused by the back of head back of thigh thing, would have to see it. basically our points are locational 1 - head 2 - right shoulder 3- left shoulder 4. rt knee 5. lt knee 6. rt hip 7. left hip then its a matter of what type of move strike, slash, stab that determines the type of block you'll see why I was confused about an 8th point on the body I couldn't figure out where that point was
-
Was curious about the 8 points we use 7 .. was wondering what point I'm missing (and no crackpot jokes I know I usually miss the point LOL)
-
This is exactly why I started this thread can't wait until we get to a place where in a couple of rehearsals based on routines we've all been practicing we can have one crew engage another!!
-
well RAPE me of a little fun why don't ya!
-
The cattle prod fight must have been hillarious!! You Kill me!! I would have died laughing when the cops showed up. I bet they enjoyed the show

By the way did I get the rules wrong? Can you add a letter, if its the only change you make? oh yeah my word again was FACE!
