  5. Here it is everyone and it's the real deal. Rumba Rue ***************************************************** Dear Performers, I am pleased to inform you that very shortly REC wil be officially announcing the location of our 2005 Renaissance Pleasure Faire. However, General Manager Ted Durden has authorized me to pass on the good good news to you. Our new home shall be... Santa Fe Dam Park in the city of Irwindale. I have walked the site and it offers plenty of space, trees, grass, a lake front, parking and camping. Demographic studies indicate a great audience base. It is located near the 210 and the 605 freeways. It is closer to the Los Angeles metropolitan area and still convenient to our Orange County folks. Yes, I am very pleased. More info to follow soon. Please forward to performers and directors as appropriate. Thanks for all your hard work and your patient waiting. Gerald Zepeda Entertainment Director REC California
  6. Well ye see, when it's really cold and the deck freezes with ice, the sailors go skating. Course that's really bad when they skate right off the deck inta the ocean...oops.... Rumba Rue **Your favorite 'peanut gallery' person**
  7. There's a duo here in S. California that I occassionally play guitar with, Mallory and McCall. They've got a great songbook out, "Mallory and McCall's Irish Pub Songbook". Lots of good shanties in it. You can get it from: Mel Bay Publications, Inc. , #4 Industrial Drive, Pacific, MO. 63069-0066, 1-800- 8-Mel Bay, or they have a website (I haven't been to it), www.melbay.com, email: email@melbay.com Also, Christine Lampe who runs No Quarter Given has a songbook out with shanties. Just check out the site at www.noquartergiven.net Hope this info might be of some help to you. Rumba Rue ** **
  8. Uh, I guess I'm being blond, cuz I'm not sure what you're asking for. Rumba Rue ** **

  10. Personally I love it when people post pictures of themselves or things they've made here in the Plunder section. Not only does it help identify the people behind the posts, but there are some really, really good seamstresses here at the Pub and I respect their advice and ideas. Criticism is fine as long as it's done with respect and offering ideas how to improve. Rumba Rue **One for all and all for one!**
  11. ...and Das comes through again.... Just adding the "peanut gallery" response. Rumba Rue ** :) **
  12. In my dyslexic ways, I honestly read the word emasculating as ejactulating.... Ok, enough coffee for me this morning.... Rumba Rue ** **
  13. Hey Mary, when we meet at Escondido faire, I'd be more than happy to show you how to make your own coat or help with any sewing tips. Since I have five different patterns, I'm sure one would work for you, if you wanted to make a coat that is. I have patterns for skirts and bodices too. Gladly lend you a hand in whatever way I can. Hugs, Rumba Rue ** **
  14. I like the one on the right too. Probably easier to do I suspect. I think it would be funny to hollow one out and put a small battery pack in it so it would vibrate. Now that's a pick up line that'll get you a laugh. But I guess in Pyrate Phil's case it'll get you a line on ''self matter's". Rumba Rue ** **
  15. "....he's come back in good condition? What's wrong with this picture? Rumba Rue ** **
  16. So you come to the Escondido faire? I know I'll be there, maybe not with PRP however. I will be selling stuff with my friend Dawn who runs 'Dream Lizard'. She sells beautiful freshwater pearls necklaces she puts together herself. Most likely I'll have my feather hat pins and mis. stuff. I'll also have a bin of costume things for $5.00 for any garment (I had to clear my closet out). Would love to meet you! Rumba Rue ** **
  17. Hmmmm, does it come with batteries? Jest kiddin' ye, I'm interested in seeing them. Rumba Rue ** **
  18. Thank you, you both made my day! Rumba Rue **Cecile B. DeMille wannabe** :)
  19. (Sorry I've been busy sewing so I missed your replies) Thank you all so much. :) Rumba Rue **You look familiar, have I threatened you before?**
  20. I occasionally carry one on my belt. It's pretty lightweight (compared to some others I've hefted) and was made by a wonderful craftsman at the Tall Ships Festival in Dana Point one year (a long time ago). The same craftsman has taken to making miniture ones that he gave out to PRP members one year - many of us have attached pin backings and have them attached to our outfits. If someone were to say something about the large belaying pin I carry, I just smile and say nothing. Let their imaginations run wild. Rumba Rue **Wench, carries unusual stick**
  21. Ok I finally finished the coat I had two friends fighting over who was going to get it. The material is a lightweight brocade with a matching lining, complete and useful pockets. Since the gal I decided that should have it is a wee bit smaller than me in height (I'm 5'3"), it will be perfect for her frame. The length of the coat isn't as long as some, because I was making it for a woman. I had a little bit of left over trim and made a small matching pouch to go with it (something I do a lot for people- no charge), using some of the black cotton velvet I used in the front. I have 5 different frock coat pattern designs, so far I've used three to make three different kind of coats. In a way I like this, it makes the coat more individual to the wearer and doesn't look like a clone of others. Frock coat Rumba Rue **Cecile B. DeMille wannabe**
  22. WOW, those are great shoes! Wish there was a seller here at our events in Calif. selling those. It's hard to buy shoes without first trying them on to make sure they fit. Rumba Rue ** **
