Breeches vs. Slops ~ They are Essentially the Same Thing, breeches having a narrower leg and a few more buttonholes at the knees. Breeches = More work? Perhaps a little. But you don't have to have buttonhole closures. Breeches were also tied at the knee with a bit of ribbon.

Hmmm, and what would ye be needin? Wonderful new hat, Kenneth! I DO miss LJS, they have all closed in my neck of the woods.

Oooh, Shiny, Pretty ~ hmmm, perhaps you'd let me have a closer look at that bauble, my dear?

Hi Gsc, Early in this post, you can read that MadDogge had a similar experience (with regards to the delay), but he did receive his box. I have seen the box, it is lovely and extremely well crafted. I would advise patience ~ while there definitely seems to be a delay on occaision, I have yet to hear of non-delivery.

Nicely done, you should post it in You in Your Garb so everyone can see it! http://pyracy.com/forums/index.php?showtop...st=1245&hl=garb

God, I love you guys. Caraccioli, Cool Tree! And love the house ~ Patrick ~ I wanna see pics! I love the idea of downsizing - seems like the projects would be more manageable that way! Projects right now for us ~ scraping the adhesive (using a SUPER WICKED chemical) off the front stoop (used by prev owners for brown astroturf which had seen better days), then deciding on concrete stain or slate resurfacing for the entry and stoop area. I am out to the tea house/hot tub, to seal the cedar before the weather turns for the winter. And Kitchen/Dining Room Curtains to replace the 1980s "came with the house" vert blinds. God, what a pain. Windows are 120" across, west exposure, new neighbors oh so considerately cut the lilac hedges nice and low ~ so they can see right in, even before all the leaves fall for the winter. So I am looking for sheers and curtains, finally got everything picked out and home, and I got the wrong size (TOO SHORT) rod. D@mmit. Love our house, though, and the projects are what make it ours.

Yay! Patrick to the rescue! I was thinking that, but glad you spelled it out ~

Michael, That, is a grande lookin' hilt there... most excellent... I think, but could be wrong, the 'Hanger or Banger' means is it a wall hanger - or a non-combat piece... just a pretty. Or, is it something that will see action - get banged around... Sound ta me like the latter... Hanger vs. Banger ~ Archangel speak From the PiP Skirmishes thread http://pyracy.com/forums/index.php?showtop...pic=11045&st=45 Posted by Rats, August 26 To that end ~ if your edges are sharpened and tip is pointy, probably more a Hanger. If the edges cannot cut anything, and the tip is dulled, probably a Banger (live action/stage fighting sword).

May I join? (And what is considered an appropriate $ amount?)

No, not the only Depp movie I have seen, just the most recent ~ and I guess I really meant the inflection. Did I mention my long term memory is shot?

Gritty, gravelly Sparrow-voice ~ I look forward to seeing this film, but need to get past the voice.

Ah, Patrick, it is as if you read my mind and actually went to work on all the projects I want to do! Still trying to finish sewing up 3 sets of kit for PiP, though, so that must take priority. I did complete my sea chest, which I am so happy with! I have both books you reference ~ please let me know if there are any knots from Ashley's you would like me to take pics of and send to you.

WOW, Capt Rusty! Nice pirate duds on your web gallery! You may want to hop on the 1680 Port Royal, Buccaneer Encampment chat, though not much has been posted there anytime recently. http://pyracy.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10304 Or contact Hurricane directly.

Metal eyelets (grommets) for stays were not available GAoP ~ they were reinforced similarly to buttonholes, which is a time-consuming business. I have made many corsets before stays, and, while the metal grommets can provide a nice finish, they can also chew up your laces if improperly "installed". To that end ~ my best fitting trial stays were made of 2 layers cotton duck and a lightweight jacquard upholstery fabric, but I didn't have time to do anything other than awl the lacing holes. I wore the stays VERY TIGHTLY LACED for 6 days, all day and into the night, though eating, drinking, running, being thrown over MadDogges shoulder, and swordfighting. Neither the layered materials nor the 1/8" satin ribbon tore. I still haven't found time to reinforce the holes (perhaps before PiP? ). With that said, you can thread a very large-eyed needle (upholstery or leather) with a fine satin ribbon for fitting purposes (as I did). Works wonderfully, providing a very accurate view of your progress.

...but only in the back, dear...'e seems ta be gainin in the front since you showed up... I, um, well ~ oh, there is just no comeback for that! LOVE the drawings, Patrick!

Well done! Thank you ~

Morgan ~ Congratulations and good luck on your undertaking! Might I recommend, with regards to you $4 linen, that you wash it first? I have purchased the $4 linen (a more open weave natural linen) from JoAnn's in the flat fold/clearance section ~ it shrank considerably, but, goodness, it is soft!
