  1. I saw it in Philly. Quite amazing to see the artifacts and the exhibit interaction was good, so that even the non-pirate folk get an appreciation for the historic subject.
  2. I don't own a motorbike, but will find this project FASCINATING! Please, post as many picts as possible . . .
  3. What about Foxe and the other Brits and Scots on here . . . ?
  4. NOW, it is the correct day! Happy Day of the American Colonies Declaring Independence! (Even if it is post-GAOP and not PC . . . )
  5. What was Edward Teach like if you met him in person, and he wasn't taking your ship at the time? Did the MacNeils' regularly wear belted plaids as the took ships in the North Atlantic? Or did they wear something else? If so, what? Why aren't more pirate reenactment groups based in the primary places they operated (I'm thinking of "Brit" pirates, as found in Johnson's book), notably Caribbean and Carolinas. (Florida was Spanish at the time.)
  6. And we are BACK to the argument . . . "Define what is meant by 'decent people' in this discussion" . . .
  7. Nope! All you'd see was his black tail as he disappeared into the pine trees. And that for only a nanosecond. My birdbath was no more than 3 feet from me when I typed that. A deer would have been within range. Now, I want a venison burger . . . Edit: Due to lack of a natural predators left around, there is a MAJOR problem with deer overpopulation in my area. Several people I know have been killed b/c of hitting a deer on the road and I have had a few close calls. Also, having WAY too many deer is causing a problem with what they feed on, hurting veggie gardens and farm crops. When hunting deer, I strongly advocate maximizing the dead deer for whatever can be used, meet, leather, horn, etc. I actually have an issue that so much venison and hide is wasted. So, no "poor Bambie" . . . That is some of the backgound of the above comment.
  8. What was Blackbeard's TRUE background? What happened to Anne Bonny? Did Mission help Oswald kill JFK? Why is Ed Foxe?
  9. Anyways, that is a neat trunk and nifty that you know can prove its use in a movie. Based on the common reuse of props in the 1920-1960s (some for the whole period and some still), I wonder if it was also used in other films too.
  10. How do you know I don't have 6? ("You don't by any chance have six fingers on your right hand?")
  11. If a deer was drinking from my birdbath . . . It would be close enough to become venison with one claymore swipe.
  12. Drinking beer out of a birdbath? I could see that . . .
  13. Rum cake? - With rum on the side, rather than WASTED in cooking . . .
  14. Pillage and burn. (And remembering to do it in THAT order, when drunk on rum . . . )
  15. Yes. Now, what was the topic at hand?
  16. What I REALLY love . . . Getting into a giggling fit with either of my kids, or both of them!
  17. It's the first. A bit early? BUT, on this day, 1 July in 1782, the 1746 act banning the wearing of tartan clothing and belted plaid was repealed. It was part of the 1746 Act of Proscription, following the last Jacobite Rebellion. On July 4th, I'll celebrate the passage and signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, when the American Colonies went "renegade" . . . (I'll wear my American Bicentennial tartan kilt to remember both events.)
  18. Bringing a smile to a kid's face. -Even if that kid is 50, 70, 90, or 9.
