  5. Greetings One and All, Well, KCRF has ended and it was a fine run for the 30th anniversary. The troupe has a weekend off before we head to Arkansas for the First Annual North West Arkansas Renaissnace Festival at Fayetteville, Arkansas on October 28 & 29. This looks to be a fun event so come on out and join us as we support this first year faire! Remember, every faire was once a first year faire and needed support! For more information head on over to the Faire's website at: http://comp.uark.edu/~dupton/NWA_Festival/ Have a good one and we'll see ya at the faire Cap'n Emerald
  6. Opening weekend was great! Weather was darn near perfect for faire, fairly decent patron turn out considering all the other activities going on across the metro area. Could have used more pirates invading - only crews working the faire are/were: The Jolly Rogers, The Ladies of the Salty Kiss (my crew), and The Bilge Pumps (visiting for the weekend). Second weekend saw a much lower turn out thanks to the over cast weather on Saturday and the rain off and on that occurred on Sunday. Temps where excellent both days however and for a performer like myself, I loved having it cloudly and cool! Looking forward to the upcoming weekend - two down, five to go. Come on out and help all of us celebrate 30 years of KCRF!! Have a good one Cap'n Emerald
  7. From what I've heard it will be held in Rotary Park, the same location as the Greater St. Louis Renaissance Faire. And the gent in charge is the same gent in charge of said ren faire. Pretty location and the faire had already put in a pirate quarter replete with a ship stage (can't remember now if it's 2 or 3 masted). Sadly, the dates they have chosen pits this first year festival against KCRF in Bonner Springs, Ks. Gonna be a tough choice - a festival celebrating their 30th anniversary or a brand new pirate festival. For those of you planning on going, do tell the rest of us all about it, please???? Some of us are working KCRF the entire run and won't be able to go. Fair Winds Capt'n Emerald
  8. Now see, that is why I like doing faires, no matter how long you work them, you still can learn something new! By chance, was that you in the Fiddle being lead about the lanes? Glad you enjoyed the show, we have fun performing them. Indeed, you shall have to come up and introduce yourself next time. Have a great 4th. Captain Emerald
  9. Sir Eric, Hmm... I do not remember anyone fitting said descriptions of either group - the only pubbers that I saw/know was Merry Death. Perchance was the MOPO the group running amuck in the lanes with the interestingly shaped stocks? M' and my crew first saw a young wench in such stocks and then later, a gent in said stocks. Indeed, we always "invade" this faire, we have performed our stage show there for the past three years now and look forward to returning next year. And the fact that their state park down the road from site has an enclosed sand beach swimming area doesn't hurt either! I expect to see a HUGE upswing in the number of pirate performers, reenactors, patrons and such with the release of POTC2 next month - it happened after the first movie hit and was reknewed by the release of Master and Commander that November. Most ren faires are braced and ready for the influx of pirate types - and the goodly majority of them are waiting the invaders with open arms. Have a great one Capt'n Emerald
  10. Tis hard for m' tae remember exactly how I found this hole in the wall ... seems I was searching the web and NQG so more than likely I came here via NQG as I knew of it before I knew of this here pub. Cap'n Emerald
  11. For those of you who are local, don your tricorns, grab your cutlass and bring your parrot with ya to see POTC2 at Dickinsen Starworld 20 on Memorial Street. The Ladies of the Salty Kiss are doing a promotion opening night at the theater for this movie. Come on out and help us educate those less fortunate land locked souls. We'll be invading around 5pm. Wind in yer sails Cap'n Emerald
  12. Greetings One and All, Just a short note to let all know that this weekend is the Renaissance Faire of the Midlands in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Friday hours are 6p -9p, Sat 11a-9p, Sun 11a-7p. Come on out and join the crew of "The Salty Kiss" (aka The Ladies of the Salty Kiss) on stage, take in the Tortuga Twins, the Jolly Rogers and the bagpipes of Tartanic. Hope to see you all there.... Cap'n Emerald
  13. Indeed, I heard m' name bein' holler'd ... I say, that meeting up during the run of KCRF (Kansas City Renaissance Festival) does sound do-able as m'self and m' crew be performing the entire run of KCRF. Keep m' posted ... I'm out the door for a faire performance this weekend up at Council Bluffs, Iowa. Wind in yer sails Cap'n Emerald
  14. Greetings All, For Sale is a 16-foot x 23-foot Montana Canvas brand reenactment tent (www.montanacanvas.com). It is constructed of 10 oz water treated canvas with hardened aluminum tubular framework (approx 2-3" diameter). The tent weighs approximately 117 lbs. It is 16 months old, used once at the Ingleside ren faire. Everything is complete (includes rain fly, flooring and tie-out ropes) and included are the instructional tape, patch kit, carrying bags, etc. I've kept the tent stored in my troop’s cargo trailer since acquiring it from the factory. Nothing is wrong with the tent, it was purchased when the performance troop was bigger and it is now too big for our needs. I paid $2,500.00 for it and am asking $2,000.00 for it (not including shipping). I will ship via UPS if buyer so wishes but it would be better to pick it up in person and save on the huge shipping bill due to weight. Any interested parties can contact me off the boards, just be sure to put "Inquiry on Tent" in the subject line as I have a habit of deleting e-mail from unknown addresses. If no one is interested, I will list it on EBay but wanted to give the Pirate Community at large first dibs on it before turning to the general public. Here are links to photos of the frame (hinge joint): http://www.montanacanvas.com/images/wall/joint.jpg and to the tent itself (ours does not have the stove jack as in the photo): http://www.montanacanvas.com/images/wall/tentfly2.jpg. Thanks ever so much and have a great day. Cap’n Emerald
  15. Thank ya kindly, Mister Nash an' a hearty congratulations upon finishin' yar scipt. Indeed, once yar tinkerin's done, where will ya bae presentin' this script? Inqurin' minds bae hankerin' tae ken. Cap'n Emerald
  16. Greetings One an' All, Just a friendly reminder to m' other landlocked brethern that the 12th Annual Four Winds Renaissance faire open March 4th and runs through April 16th at Troup, Tx. M' crew an' I will be performing five of the seven weekends this year - trying to bring a bit of history and alot of laughs to one of our favorite events. Besides, Tx is alot warmer than Ok in March! Come on out and enjoy yourselves ... for more information or tickets check out the faire's website at: http://fourwindsfaire.com/ Have a good day an' hope to see some o' ya out there. With Respects, Cap'n Emerald
  17. In three weeks, the 12th Annual Four Winds Renaissance Faire opens it's faire season. Come out and enjoy this faire beginning March 4th and continuing through April 16th - new this year, Masked Ball on April 1st. Check out the website for more information: http://fourwindsfaire.com/ "The Ladies of the Salty Kiss" return for their third season, come by and say "Hello" at one of our stage shows (you have four opportunities each day to do so). Cap'n Emerald
  18. Just to remind those in the area that can make it, the 2nd Annual Scarlet's Mid-Winter Renaissance Festival is this weekend, January 28 & 29. M' an' the crew will be heading down to OKC in a few hours - hope to see some fellow Pubbers there! Have a great weekend Cap'n Emerald
  19. You have no idea! But, the looks on the faces of my fellow Okies as they try to understand the period language with the brogue and Okie twang ... it's priceless!
  20. Well then Matt, you will just have to bring your tail to Oklahoma and hear it for yourself! Especially with the Irish brogue I use for faires Cap'n Emerald
  21. Sad news to report regarding this festival, "The Ladies of the Salty Kiss" will not be going to Wisconsin this year. Heard back from the person in charge of entertainment. Maybe next year we'll be able to perform up there. Hope it goes well this year, keep us all updated! Cap'n Emerald
  22. Rumba, It is held inside one of the "expo" buildings - concrete floors (only downfall but I don't want to be out in the cold winds of Jan in Oklahoma! ) The tents in use (which are few) are the self standing kind that do not require tie outs. The most common vendors "tent" is actually a booth. Don't know about guilds (no IWG or Rogues Guild booths) - Diamond (my crew member) was mentioning another performing troupe out of the DFW area, "The Bilge Pumps." I had wondered pretty much the same things as you Rumba but after going as a patron last year, I saw what they did and I was impressed with the efforts of the faire cast and the vendors. Scarlet's may be a young faire but, it has the heart of an older faire. And it's a great way for those of us land locked and freezing in January to get a faire fix and see friends once more. Petee - glad ya like the mermaids, I'll be sure and tell Garnette when I see her on the 28th! Have a great one Cap'n Emerald
  23. Wanted: sea chest/foot locker/steamer trunk in darned good condition, that can be padlocked for safe keeping. Nothing overly large - a good medium sized chest would do. Nothing sky high in price either, looking to keep it 50.00 or less. If ya know where I can lay m' hands on one or if ya have one ya want to get rid of, PM me! Thank ya kindly, Cap'n Emerald
  24. Simplier projects for me, making new garb before m' season gets to underway, repairing what needs repaired, finding a new sea chest to put merchandise in, writing 2 or 3 new shows (and gathering up all the bloody props that go with 'em) and... surviving semester #2 of RN school. Nothing real drastic .... Cap'n Emerald
