  1. Just an update on things since it's been soooo long since I got a chance to post. First off, you will notice we changed our name to simply, Joplin Renaissance Festival - much easy to say and describes who we are. Second - we've changed venue. Why? Because within a month of getting word out, we outgrew the first choice for location. The new location is Landreth Park in Joplin, Mo. And just to get the word out - we are having an Open Orientation for the faire on January 12th in Joplin, place: TBA. So, looks up on the web (http://joplinrenfestival.com/) and feel free to join our yahoo group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/joplinrenfestival/) for more information on this event! Looking forward to working with everyone Emerald
  2. Hey Shadoes!! Indeed, I was most pleased to you photo with other familiar and beloved faces. And please do make your application to the festival ASAP - as we are approaching our entertainment budget limit. Look forward to working with ya ... Emerald aka Entertainment Director of JRF
  3. Ooo! OoO!! I'm IN!! That was soooo much fun last year!!! I've the same addy - need me to PM it to you? Emerald
  4. Pogue, They have bumped pirate weekend into September ... going off the top of my head here, I believe it's 6th weekend of faire this year. Gonna be strange after all these years of opening weekend being pirate invasion weekend! And you are right, nothing like being at KC when the weather changes. Maybe we'll see snow this year before the faire ends ... been a while since that happened. Fair Winds Emerald
  5. You will have to let me know how the Pirate Fest goes since it does conflict with KCRF and I don't get the opportunity to go to it. Cup and Chaucer - isn't that the one behind Gallows Stage near B gate? Looks like the closest we'll get to you guys is our set at the Public House at 3pm. We're pulling three shows a day at Da Vinci's Crane, one at Merlin's Berm, one at Canterbury Public House then finish the day at the Pirate Ship. Yup, we're doing 6 shows a day opening weekend. We outta be some tired pirates! Have a good one and I'll see you guys in a few days! Take care Emerald
  6. Only 4 more days until the 31st Annual Kansas City Renaissance Festival opens for 7 weekends! Come on out and join myself and m' crew as we return to one of our favorite faires to entertain thousands of patrons each weekend! kcrenfest.com for more information and tickets See you at the faire this weekend! Emerald
  7. To my Texas Brothers and Sisters in Piracy, Just wanted to pass along this news - The Ladies of the Salty Kiss will be performing for the first time at the Ravens Loft Ren Faire in Emory, Tx this weekend, August 25th & 26th. Would be great to be able to meet any Pubers that live in the area. Hope to see folks out at the faire ... Fair Winds, Emerald
  8. If the Archangel is hosting then we would welcome you and yours as well... stage performers could add a lot to teaching Living Historians how to act their parts... so don't count yourself out where the demos, etc. are concerned. Sterling, Indeed you are most kind, sir and I thank you most deeply for the kind words. I am most intrigued by the idea of a get together and a meeting of the minds wherein both sides of this 'pirate coin' could learn from one another. As to time of year ... we have potential gigs booked for the 2nd or 3rd week of November in Texas, 2nd week of December in South Texas, the last weekend of Jan in OKC and the 2nd or 3rd weekend in February - either heading out west to Arizona Ren Fest or back to Texas for the new Songwood Ren Fest near Manvel, Tx. Thrown into February's calendar are the academies myself and a few of my crew are teaching the cast of the new Joplin, Mo ren fest. March sees us out on the road performing as well as working the non-performance weekends at academies. April is more of the same. Would I be to much of a pain in the butt if I asked for a narrowing of the time frame? As well as an exact location - city/town and state wise? Thanks ever so much Emerald
  9. Indeed he did Jack but, I've learned the hard way that tis better to ask specifically than to assume. I rather like my head where it is, not bitten off because I "don't know my place." But then again, when have I ever known my place? Fair Winds Emerald
  10. Hmm.... what 'bout those of us who are Pre-GAoP AND are stage show performers? Would we really 'fit in' and be welcomed? I know there are some *very* serious GAoP reenactors out there that find my sort absolutely ... irritating ... for lack of a better word. If pre-GAoP types are welcomed - time of year, work responsibilities, and cash flow for myself and the rest of the crew would be real issues. Can you be more specific as to time of year? Would the folks attending and running this type of event be interested in seeing pirate comedy in action during this event? Feel free to reply on the boards or via PM. Have a great day Emerald
  11. That would be wonderful if you and your lady wife could come and play! The more, the merrier indeed! Good luck with class this semester! Emerald
  12. Bo, It was definately grand to finally meet you and to meet your lady wife as well. A royal treat is was my friend. Here's to many more meet-ups! Fair Winds Emerald
  13. Greetings All! I don't know if you have heard about this or not but, I wanted to share. On April 26 & 27, 2008 the 1st Annual Joplin Keltoi Renaissance Faire opens up at Oronogo, Mo (outside of Joplin, Mo). The gentleman who owns it is looking for vendors and performers for the faire. He asked me to contact any vendors and performers that I knew of and have them in turn contact him to discuss availability and booking fees. He and his wife, Lane, are truly wonderful people and the site is absolutely beautiful - a good mixture of trees (old and new growth) and open areas. The owners name is Bruce Morgan and he can be reached via e-mail at: bruce at joplinrenfestival.com or huskervillesouth at yahoo.com. His phone number is: 417-483-1849. The faire website site is: joplinrenfestival.com. Give Bruce a call or send him an e-mail as soon as possible - he is wanting to book vendors and performers now so that he can get the contracts out ASAP. For cast, an orientation meeting is scheduled for Saturday, January 12th, 2008 - place to be announced later. There will be open auditions for cast positions and academies leading up to the faire in April. Should you have any questions regarding cast, auditions, and academies, I ask you direct those questions to me rather than Mr. Morgan as I am lead instructor. Please pass the news about this new faire to everyone you know - not only do we need vendors, performers, and cast but, most importantly - we need patrons! Fair Winds an' Followin' Seas, Emerald
  14. Only 3 more days until Central Missouri Ren Fest opens! Looking forward to seeing some of the local pyracy pub folk out at this event! Stop by and say hello, eh? Fair Winds Emerald
  15. Ah, dinnae fret my friend ... some o' us just have perfectly period, curvy figures. God bless the Jolly Rogers and their new song "Curvy Girls." Emerald
  16. For those of you who like to travel, like horses, like helping out where you can - I invite you to make the journey to Cherrywood Stables near Springdale, Arkansas on July 28th at 5:30pm. The Ladies of the Salty Kiss will be lending a hand to the Arkansas Equine Foundation's fundraiser for the Black Stallion Literacy Program. We will be joined by fellow faire performers, Byron T. Bear and the all female joust troupe, Mounted Fury. If you cannot get enough of TLotSK (or you just want an excuse to travel some more!) - then mark your calendars for Saturday, August 11th! We will be performing at the Grove, Oklahoma 2nd Saturday Arts Festival, located in downtown Grove, Oklahoma on the shores of Grand Lake O' the Cherokees. Come out and help us support the Arts around Grand Lake. Fair Seas ... Cap'n Emerald
  17. It was sooo good to see you gents this weekend! Don't know if you heard the news from Mysteri or not but, despite the media's erroneous reporting - we say roughly 800 folks through the gate and we where able to raise $500.00 to aid the flood victims. Yeah! two events in a row with you gents, we must be living right (or paying off the right folks! ) Until next our paths cross ..... Fair Winds an' Followin' Seas to ya Emerald
  18. Mark your calendars for August 18th & 19th, 2007 for the 2nd Annual Central Missouri Renaissance Festival at Columbia, Mo! Looks like The Ladies of the Salty Kiss will be invading this port and bringing their own style of choas and mayhem with them! http://www.cmrfest.com/ Come on out and join us ... remember to support the small faire of today as they will become the big faires of tomorrow! Fair Winds, Capt. Emerald
  19. I'm glad to hear that you came out of the floods unscathed. We get pretty regular updates via news channels on the situation (boiling order, shots, etc). Had not heard that there was a conservation order on you guys as well. Have the emergency services got a good supply of water coming into your area? The reports I'm getting from Osawatomie are coming from the faire owner who lives there. I live about an hour SE of you, in Oklahoma. I look forward to meeting you at the faire this weekend, may your journey be a safe one! Emerald
  20. Blue Puppy, how are things looking in/around the Coffeyville area? Been getting reports of the flooding that has the town in a terrible way. I do certainly hope that you and yours are alright. Just to ease your mind, my dear; if you are a ticket weilding patron, you may wear what ever you like, within the letter of the law and decency's sake. The only time you would need worry 'bout your costuming is if you were on cast - then (and only then) would you truly have to be "up to snuff." And while there are some idiots who run their mouths off about another's garb - these uncivilied and ill mannered peons often find themselves in a pickle! Those of us who are "in the business" of creating a realm of fun and yesteryear, any patron's attempts to provide their own garb is welcomed gladly and with praise. Wearing garb you hand craft gives a person a sense of pride (and rightfully so!) and also allows that person/patron to enter more fully into the 'realm' of the faire. So fear not, my dear! Wear what you will and take pride in what you have crafted for yourself! And should your path cross those of a creatin, God forfend!, do ignore them and give them naught but your pity - pity for such a small mind lost in such a cavernous and thick skull! Ahh, my dear lovies of Pyrate Leatherworx! I do sincerely hope to see your jovial and loveable faces at FotD! It would make a wonderful day even more so! You gents are truly gentlemen of the seas and let none others gainsay you there! Awwww .... how absolutely sweet of you! Thank you for your kind words of praise, my friends. That truly means alot to myself and the rest of the Ladies - it shows us all that we are truly doing our job to the best of our abilities. I shall pass your words along to them post haste. In case you had not been told, that evening after the faire ends, we have the utter honor of performing one of our new shows, 'This is Your Pirate Life' for the cast, crew, performers, and vendors of the faire. It is our way of saying 'Thank You' to our fellows that work so hard to make each and every faire a wonderful experience - for us and the patrons. Alas, I must away for the now. I do so look forward to seeing you gents and you as well, Blue Puppy, at Festival of the Dragon! Please do visit www.usfunfairs.com for a printable ticket coupon for the faire. And remember, proceeds are going to help out those folks in the community of Osawatomie that have lost everything. Come on out and help us help them to rebuild. Fair Winds an' Followin' Seas .... Emerald
  21. Just wanted to pass along an update from the Boss Lady herself with regards to the faire and the recent flooding. The original posting can be found on the Renaissance Forum boards (Smaller Faires sub forum); original post date of 02 July 2007. The southeast corner of Osawatomie is a little less near the top of the water. But the park and the majority of town is doing fine. They evacuated us on Sunday morning but let us back in by noon. We had the National Guard all over town yesterday, but most have already cleared out today. As it stands now, everything is still a go and the town is looking forward to a bit of positive. Newest update, a good portion of the proceeds of the fair are going to help those dispaced here in Osawatomie. Even more so than before, please help us support this fair and the rebuilding of the Southeast corner of Osawatomie. MysPixie
  22. Greetings One and All, Mark your calendars ye pirates o' the tall grasses and come out to the John Brown Memorial Park in Osawatomie, Kansas on July 14th for the 1st Annual Festival of the Dragon, a one day event (to test the community's response). The new new website is up and operational: http://www.festivalofthedragon.com/ It lists some of our fellow performers as well as giving the day's schedule of events. Hope to see some of you there, feel free to stop by the Royal Stage or the Children's Realm and introduce yourselves, it would be wonderful to put faces with the names! Fair Winds an' Followin' Seas Cap'n Emerald
  23. Oh, Oh, Oh! Bad Pirate ... No Rum for you! Seriously, glad to know it isn't a hernia. And I am *so* very sorry to hear it's a kidney stone. That nearly as bad a prognosis as a hernia! You definately have my sympathies, my friend. May your ordeal end quickly. Will be thinking of ya this weekend while at fest. Emerald
  24. Shadoes dear, you must be more careful! Hernias are NOT good at all and to have three already this year!! Take care of yourself, get rest (if you can) and we'll see you at the next fest. Emerald
  25. Only 4 more days until opening day of Lawton Renaissance Festival!!!!
