Buccaneer Bash held June 6th & 7th, 2015 in Augusta, Michigan at the Olde World Village.

Admission is $10, kids 12 & under are free.

I understand they will have interactive historical encampments there, too, plus a private camping area.

At current... this event is still 'up for sale' last I saw. Honestly I would LOVE to see another pirate fest in a different location. The Marina is very limited in space. Parking in the area is difficult. But the view was SPECTACULAR!

I have NO skill in developing an event otherwise I'd attempt to organize one.

hmmm.... this would be an interesting topic to pick back up. I like the idea of the five strings... perhaps the ghost strings like on the hardanger fiddle, too, but to make the fiddle more like a pochette?

I've begun to learn the viola... the five strings would allow you to play trble and alto clef. wicked cool!

I'm still curious to know who has found the most accurate paper. I've used a number of various laid papers in limited rag content, but I'm always on the lookout for something better.

Will, my favorite paper ( my very BEST paperI reserve for VERY special occasions) is the period laid paper from the Print Shop at Colonial Williamsburg.

Also... glad Gertie enjoyed the quills. I still have MANY of the goose quills and they do seem to last forever. You can shape them to make them compact for traveling, too. Don't fool yourself that any kind of quill will work... because it won't. There is a reason why Goose quills were prefered. Otherwise, go with a nib pen.

I have gone with Artistic paper, such as the multi-purpose drawing paper of medium weight in the largest sizes for writing articles and other loose documents.

From those who have attended in previous years... can ye give some pointers for any new attendees? Not certain if I can attend this year, but shall attempt to make the trip next year.

When to catch the ferry? Cost? Do's & Don't's?

Thank ye most kindly, Patrick. I'm actively searching for good sheet music. I suppose I can always talk to my local music store guy, too. He's been incredibly helpful in many cases.

Alas... I haven't had much luck really. Even went to Facebook & asked around. Again, no luck there. I suppose... shall have to inquire with some places & foundations & museums. :) I should have done that in the first place.

But... what I do find, I shall post them here, too, for others to utilize.

Ahoy, m' hearts! I am known as Lady B, and I'm the Master & Commander of the Resurrection. 

The Pirates & Buccaneers of the Resurrection is a group of historical fiction pirates and other unique characters based in Fiddler's Green - aka Eastern Iowa near the Mighty Mississippi - utilizing historical realism from 1700 to 1750 mixed with pirate lore, sea myths, Hollywood legend, and novel fiction.

An interactive group with adventurous activities that demonstrates the Pirate's life, a hands-on encampment, and all- inclusive scenarios between participants and spectators. This is only a hobby and do not make a profit doing this. We lean towards the historical aspect, but not cutting out the fictional likes of Long John Silver or Captain Jack Sparrow. A family friendly group in need of plenty of bodies (preferably living folk) to portray delightful characters as Pirates, King's Navy, East India Company, common folk, or unique figures from the sea.

Instead of just calling it "Resurrection", could ye have "the Pirates and Buccaneers of the Resurrection"? Please & thank ye kindly.

We'd also like to have a thread all our own like the others on here, too, iffn ye please.

We are trying to invade proper events in Illinois, Indiana, southern Wisconsin, Easter Iowa, & per chance southern Michigan.

The website is still active. We are ALWAYS actively seeking new shipmates willing and able to sign on and attend events (what few of them there are).

Plenty of scenarios planned. Demos possible. Lots of interaction with the public is possible. My vision is to be hands on with spectators to teach them/show them a pirates lifestyle.

Stickin' with it, mates. Granted events nigh as dry as the weather but seeking and planning.

Oy, Calico... the Pirates & Buccaneers of the Resurrection are one of a few Crews who are in the region. Hope we see ye at an event. The Forsake is another. The Pirates of the Great Lakes has been around a while. No doubt a good number of pirates up at Bristol and down at Stronghold. :)

I'm looking for sheet music of period songs to learn on my viola and play at events.

I do not mind if they are treble clef or alto clef (I've learned my Music Theory well, I can convert), just as long as they are period songs.

As I said, would like to learn songs and play them at events.

Apologies that I disappeared. One my wander off but they ALWAYS return!

My thoughts have been occasionally on the Pyracy Pub for a while but life has a wonderful way of diverting one from places that matter with people who are brilliant.

So, hopefully I shall be visiting the Pub more often. Nothin' beats this place.

The past few years have been hellish at attending events but with gas down a little lower, I hope I can get back to events, too. I have a LOT of plans & still trying to keep the Resurrection alive but definitely in need of good folks willing and able to partake in events.

I've begun learning the viola and am looking for sheet music (violin and/or viola) to play some tavern songs, period music, etc as demos at events.

Despite life still being crazy (who's life is NOT crazy, as it gets busier and crazier the older we get)... I shall do my best to be on here more often.

Those who do not know, I'm working in radio as an On Air Announcer, been branching out to volunteer in theater, and hoping someday soon to go into larger market Radio as On Air Talent as well as perform on more stages and other areas of Entertainment like TV and Film. Following that path that God is Gibbs Slapping me to do.
