  1. It's now 2012... and several places are saying PotC is possible but in the works. One site stated the title was PotC: Beyond the Seas World. Now... that title sounds just so unlike a PotC title. And too reflective of At World's End. The plot and supposed story sounded even worse with Will and Elizabeth returning which we all know that both Knightley and Bloom will not return for future films.

    I guess we shall see.

I still am keeping watch for a Blackbeard's ghost possibility. Perhaps Will and Elizabeth's son jumping in on the story, too? I was told Depp wasn't so sure about taking on another PotC film as Jack and wanted to do another film with Angelina Jolie... well, I like our very own Black Syren's idea where if ever her character was played by anyone, it would be Angelina Jolie. Or maybe the return of Cruz to reprise her role as Angelica. Perhaps we will see someone portray one of Blackbeard's "Wives", Aldetha Stowcroft.

Well... we shall see what goes.

  2. Hmmm... tis a good question, GoF.

I'm not involved with any Star Wars groups. I only know of the 501st because it's so large. What groups they are associated with... I don't know if it's a start or not. But you are right... trying to get involved in some of these forums is more trouble than it's worth.

I guess, it could be worse.... like NOTHING out there with the costuming aspect... which is what I ran into when I started work on a Wraith Queen outfit of my own, in reflection of the Wraith from Stargate Atlantis. The Stargate series costume/cosplay sites and groups are few and far between with networking proving to be quite the challenge yet we are trying.

Star Trek... the Starfleet is a bigger pain as I attempted to try and contact and connect with them several months ago for a convention and they completely snubbed me! Ugh, talk about rude!

Lots of the forums out there have gotten into a rut about their conduct. The newbies that are worth keeping they are pushed away due to a wide variety of reasons. Worse, as you said... post count! I have had the constant issue of forums and places needing you to be at a certain post count in order to do anything! Seriously?

I wish you luck, GoF. And.... May The FORCE Be With You! :)

PS - hey, uh... does this mean we MAY see you at CyPhan in the future? someday?

  3. Everything is left, Mark. I've not sold a thing yet... much to my dismay.

I'm adding to my list of things that must be sold. It's hard to give up all this stuff.. but I have to get rid of it all.

Carbine is still up for grabs, I'll see if I can post three pictures of it on here.

    Sword still up for grabs...

the red silk robe (more a 1770s gown instead of GAoP)

and a few other clothing pieces, including the outfit shown above.

Shall post an updated list of more items soon.

  4. No one has purchased the carbine or sword... or any of the outfits yet.

    Sent you a PM, pegleg.

Please, please, please, people.... I beg. I MUST sell these things and sell them now! These would make for good Christmas gifts, too. I have a few other things, all my piratey and rev war stuff must go!

  5. I'm afraid I don't have any further details on it. What model and make is unknown. I definitely bought it (from my unit commander) because it worked and worked well. Fired the majority of the time on the battlefield.

There is some nice but simple brasswork on it. The flashguard will need to be replaced, but that's a minor detail compared to this carbine. It's rustic looking, it's not shiny and new but it's a great delight. It pains me to have to part with it.

The carbine will be with a pick and whisk.... as well as the hard case I purchased for it. Heck of a deal.

Again, I have pictures... send me a message of an email I can send the pictures to.

  7. ::: dusts self off; removes seaweed; coughs:::

Well, pubmates. I have finally returned. Though I have hovered upon a couple other computers, their firewalls never allowed me to visit here. So entirely sad. MANY sites I frequented that I was not allowed to go to. One can only handle so much of Facebook, checking email, and the occasional Deviantart. IF allowed. Often not allowed. Nor not the time.

So, now m' computer has returned to me. I'm at full swing now, back up and running and able to visit the Pub once again! Huzzah!

I swears... I need to take cannons to computer Viruses! Th' bloody this was a VERY nasty one. Wiped it out, only able to save a few things. But now, starting over.

Tis grand t' be back upon the Pub! Round of drinks for all! Make that THREE rounds!

  8. Mind ye, those who do the written role play stories are a different in some manner to those who attend the events. Those who write are the little miss know it all sort whom haven't no clue of what they are doing plus they make excuses not to attend an event.

Granted there are those who attend events are just horrid at the piracy portraying with gossip, bad attire that looks like a teen wears, etc. But, that is them. No point in my warping (yes, warping, not wrapping) my head around that.

Plus, take those sort of people who attend, magnify it by 100 and that's the sort of people you get at times on these role playing story groups. So please... spare these good groups from such madness and contribute. Please?

  9. Generally, the populace of those who get involved in the written role playing stories here online are females. From teens to 40s. Whether they are historical minded or not, they generally want to live out a fantasy dream.

Unfortunately for the group, this is not good as male characters are too few and far between. And because most members of role playing story groups are female in gender, they tend to stick with female characters. Especially those who are not all that well oriented in writing role playing stories, they have their own mindset on their character and not really open to what the group and stories need for characters.

Another unfortunate bit is that even if you have a very good group with a great story or stories going. Once someone enters with their own mindset on what they wish to portray during that time period and are completely uninteractive with other characters and the story, this unfortunately degrades the story and even group. As the current members do become rather frustrated with this idiotic person who appears to be destroying the group.

Every group out there right now is starved for good members, let alone active members. I've been in a great deal of RPGs over the past decade - from forums, chat rooms, lists, etc - and female characters taking on uncharacteristic roles, or the commonly known Mary-Sue roles, is far too common. Whereas, the characteristic female roles and male roles are generally uncommon or worse, rare.

It's good to cultivate creativity, I always do this in every group. But there is a difference between Creativity and complete absurd stupidity.

In essence, those who do the role playing stories here online, are essentially Actors and Authors all in one. These stories are Live as it's progressively written. It honestly takes a massive amount of talent to really do these role playing stories.

Time is a factor, too, when it comes to members, including male members. Most no longer have a lot of spare time, especially spare time online.

Again I completely understand the plight, Elena. Have bee dealing and putting up with these plights for over a decade. Just simply have to work with what we got and hopefully, knock on wood, a member will come along, will be cultivated and grow, becoming a great Writer for the group. And by all means, try to cultivate the common female roles with other members. They are more extraordinary that most would think. I've done this and seems to work rather well as new members are becoming rather receptive to the idea of common female roles. I also encourage members to take on male roles, and generally multiple character roles of both genders considering that a thread/story may be slow. Just like in any movie, you have the main characters, your supporting roles, the minor characters and your extras.

  10. Looking great there, Ivan! I'm almost jealous. Almost. ;)

I know this is incredibly late, but better late than never, so here is a pic taken of me at the Port Washington Pirate Fest back in June, of my new outfit (will have to make some minor alterations to the venetian breeches).

  11. Yeah, saw this on someone's facebook page. Got a MASSIVE ill response. It is sad that they compile their dislike to all. But, what further can we do? That is, until the Fed Gov finally is unable to pay for those places.

Granted, there are a few who are rather... unlikely and unwanted who do ruin the good reputations, but let's not let them ruin the rest of us, aye? Show the NPS that most reenactors are respectable, honorable, and wish to show history and preserve it.

  12. OMG, I can't believe I did NOT see this before! Absolutely fantastic, Bo! I'm more than drooling. Selling it? If so, how much? What's the seat size? Bridge? etc.

I've a useless old English saddle that is sound just has a couple cosmetic issues that can be easily repaired by the skilled saddlery. Been trying to find a way to get rid of it near me. Not happening. No one where I am at fancies English as much as I do. I'm thinking about converting the saddle into something similar to those old Spanish war saddles. Or something along those lines if I can. I want to make it look rotten since I hope to be the Headless Horseman for Halloween and hope to get a life-size horse frame built. ::: Crossing fingers, swords, legs, lines, wires, paths, etc. ::::

  13. Lots of contracting out, too, Hawkyns. Costumers have their ideas of period attire, and what they've seen at museums and in books, are not pinned down to one era. It's an outfit that needs to be done and needs to be done a month ago. :) So they belt it out, no matter the decade. Yes, I agree. It is annoying to those who are keen about the attire.

  14. THOSE SHOES!!! :::points to the picture of the gent wearing wooden shoes!::: I'll be damned! There's a pair with several pictures on he Facebook page of Littlebits Clothing Company. Well, I'll be. Brilliant! :)

Anyways... My suggestion... talk to Hazel Dickfoss with Wm Booth Draper. She's info on the ticken and sells it. :)
