  1. Bess, you look lovely Lass! Glad to see the almost complete outfit & of course I'm quite partial to the hat!
  2. Blackbonie, In the first pic I think you've been MAROONED!! Sorry, just had to say it!
  3. Just saw a trailer for this this morning. "Captain Shakespeare" of some sort of Zepplin ship... interesting.
  4. Good to see you ladies this weekend! We'll be seein' you in Columbia next month as well!
  5. Wow! It sold for $4,000. Some of the original movie costumes went for less than that on eBay after the first movie! The Completed Ebay Auction
  6. I hadn't heard of this movie so I went to amazon to check it out... must be pretty rare on DVD, only available used and the cheapest is $67.00, VHS starting at $1.54, guess I'll have to dust off the VCR.
  7. We used to sing "aboard a pirate ship" in place of "aboard a man o' war". Another verse (chorus is just slightly different in this version too): The Captain's wife was a frigid b!+@h aboard a man o' war Sam's gone away, aboard a man o'war! Brave work, me boys, pretty work, I say! Sam's gone away, aboard a man o'war! I'm glad I'm not the Captain, aboard a man o'war!
  8. Very nice work indeed Cap'n Sage, I believe we met at Pyratecon this spring and discussed your lion jolly roger. The trays look very nice! A unique item and they show off your wonderful tooling. Welcome to the forums!
  9. Saw a commercial for this one yesterday. There is a small blurb about it on the History International Website. Looks like it is an evening of pirate related programming on History International. Here is the lineup from what I can tell: Saturday July 7th (Times listed in Eastern/Pacific) Calico Jack 8-9 PM True Caribbean Pirates 9-11 PM History Traveler "Pirate Tech" 11 PM- 12 AM Sunday July 8th Calico Jack 12-1 AM True Caribbean Pirates 1-3 AM History Traveler "Pirate Tech" 3-4 AM
  10. Ahoy Captain Emerald, perhaps we'll see you there... just found out about this one from a different post by BluePuppy so we're looking into it... They must have something going for them, they got the Ladies of The Salty Kiss!
  11. I'm in Shawnee (the Kansas City/Overland Park area) but Osawatamie isn't too far away... what is going on there? Sorry about the flooding in your area!!!
  12. Welcome aboard Blue Puppy... Nice to see another landlocked Kansas pirate here, even if you are jumping ship to be near the ocean in Baltimore soon!
  13. Since this is in Twill you may be looking for a period solution but Scotchgard or CampDry usually work very well and there are versions that work on leather... Comes in an aerosol can & is invisible when it dries. Find them in the camping section at Wal-mart & elsewhere.
  14. Somehow missed this thread until now... yes, that's my website. Wages, I'll reply to your PM shortly.
  15. The links that Captain Pogue posted earlier include ladies hats:
  16. Here is an example of a batik flag... This flag is approximately 10' x 7' and we batiked it to add a little flair to our shop tent's back wall. We do offer custom batiked jolly rogers as well as some of the standard rogers for sale. We can do various sizes and have currently done sizes from 8" x 10" up to the one shown above 10' x 7'. Info is not yet on our website but if it's something you are interested in, feel free to contact me.
  17. We block our own blanks but if you are just looking for a blank and trying to cut the middle man for cost reasons, we're not necessarily going to be more cost effective because most blanks you buy are machine blocked & ours are done by hand... believe it or not the raw materials cost about as much and sometimes more than some of the pre-finished blanks you'll find.
  18. I promised pictures so here you go... This is what we call "The Captain Kidd" it is a roughed up version in wool felt with the brim turned up toward the front. It is customizable and can be made without the distressing, with a flat brim, or formed in other ways as well. These are stiffened and water treated and go for $65.00 as shown including the leather hatband.
  19. Wow! I took me a second to notice that those were people around the ensign above!!! HUGE! Guess I have Ensign Envy!
  20. Seems like similar hats are seen in a lot of Howard Pyle paintings & Don Maitz depicts Captain Kidd in a "pilgrim" hat, now I know these aren't necessarily period renderings but it seems from the other research that it is a period style. I have recently acquired a block to block felt in this style, I'll post pictures later. Here are a couple of Pyle images depicting pirates in this style of hat:
  21. Did you make your own ship stencil? It's very nice!
  22. Hi Britabroad, Was it the Mutineers that you remember? . They're from St. Louis and perormed last year at the Columbia Festival. I'll see a few of their members at the St. Louis Renfest this weekend and have contact with some other St. Louis & KC area groups if you want to send me a PM or email I'd be glad to do what I can to help.
  23. When I returned home after a long weekend the buttons were in the mailbox waiting. They are very nice, I especially like the domed screwback ones & will be in contact soon to order. Interesting to see the artifact later period buttons above!
  24. Thanks for the update, crazy the hoaxes that are out there. Missed your original posts about it being a fake I guess... Wonder if Sithcamaro (Depp & Sparrow Impersonator) is sorry that he went to all of that trouble to duplicate a costume that never existed?
  25. Just wondering about this costume: Having seen the movie now, it isn't there. Though, very similar to Elizabeth's costume... did this ever exist & was cut? Just some good photoshopping? It was one of the first pictures out there for POTC3. Sithcamaro even made a copy:
