  11. I get these all the time, the funny thing about it is I receive them to e-mail addresses that aren't linked to my account. Same with Paypal spoofs. The most common for me is the official looking ebay notice page with a message like: "I have pay for item I win, when will ship?" the notice never includes the auction # or item description but dose have an authentic user name attached. They are clever little devils ain't they? I don't sell to many things so I keep a pretty close track on whats going in and out. They ain't got me.....yet......for all I know
  12. Hi Folks, I had the ironic privilege of serving in the army during the time of George Bush the First. some of ya might remember him as using, "with dismal effect" US military as drug interdiction forces in So. America. I was one of those lucky guys. IMHO the only way to defeat the drug trade is to legalize it, tax it and use the proceeds to fund rehab programs. Problem is those who don't wanna be rehabbed are kinda set loose on the public, and you'll end up with areas like "Needle Park" in Amsterdam where entire families live in the park, kids and all. And again, until we do something about the border, the problems here to stay. People want it, they'll get it. simple as that. I call my privilege "ironic" because I was nursing an $80.00 a day coke habit til the loving and tender hands of a drill Sergeant named Hernsberger put me through a bathroom door, head first, while it was shut. Kinda take someone who cares to show ya the light sometimes. My light came as a bright flash and said "Men" on it. Still have the scars too.
  13. Ok, my daughter last saw the catalog and now it's disappeared, I found the link below and it shows some actual deck prisms recovered from wrecks. It doesnt give a date though. http://www.njscuba.net/artifacts/obj_deck_light.html
  14. i've gotta locate the catalog again, I'll include the name and stuff ASAP.
  15. Interesting timing, I was just browsing a nautical catalog and found red and green glass .....prisms.... for lack of a better word. these had a flat round base on one end and came to a point at the other. It looks as if these were set into the deck to cast light into the holds/decks below. I assume it would work only if it were, 1 daytime and 2 the deck was directly below the topside deck. I guess you could set them into the bulkhead. It's the first I'd seen of this and it made sense.
  16. Outstanding, thanks for the info. I'm going on the hunt for the book you referred to right now. Any more info in this vein is much appreciated.
  17. Very Cool, now to get the boucan smoking and the rum flowing,
  18. wow, 80/80 Libertarian. I kinda figured. I have the same issues as Rummy3, here in OC, CA. Lots of republicans label me "liberal" and the Dem's call me a "conservative"? Awww, what the hell, I take responsibility for me and mine and I'm tired of being a sugar-daddy to anyone who feels it's their god-given-right to just take. Sorry, bantering done, on with the fun!
  19. Dang, first post and already influencing friends and making enemies!
  20. Ahoy folks, I was doing some research for a book I was hoping to write, and a question about what areas the Spanish Main and Caribbean encompassed has me a bit over a barrel. The reserch I have shows that the Spanish Main (in the late 1500's) was located in the area north of South America and south of North America in the Gulf of Mexico region. All of the eastern parts of Latin America and the Yucatan were in this as well. The Caribbean was the area to the Atlantic side of South America over to the southern tip of Florida south down to the Bahamas and back over to the southern border of Brazil. Later in the 1600's, piracy had become so far reaching that all of it was refered to just as the Spanish Main. Dose any of my discription make a lick of sense? My question is so that I get the proper name in place for the proper times. Thanks all, I look forward reading and posting with all you fine folk. Pirates..... fine folks.....I'll get the hang of this soon!
