For those who've just got their Winter Issue. . . your Spring Issue will be sent during the first week of May and we'll be caught up for the seasons! We have a Flying Spaghetti Monster piece in the lates Pyrates Way. . .no, I didn't tell the kid to do that. . . and the lil' bastard forgot to mention us. . . I wonder if I can get the PayPal money back that I sent h.h h . . uh. . . hay! nevermind.

The Pyrates Way's Second Issue is now in the mail to subscribers and should be on store shelves soon (that part is up to the distributor so I can't say exactly when). The mailing is via media mail. The magazines arrived this morning and I just dropped of the first SUV-load at the post office. I'll have another load out this afternoon and tomorrow morning, etc. . . . by Friday we should have all of them out. Like all the issues of The Pyrates Way, subscribers will receive free booty inside the protective bag. This issue is a 100% improvement over our first issue and the Spring issue is even better and will mail at the end of April. By then we'll be all caught up, timewise, to provide the Summer issue by the Fourth of July.

This Con is going to ROCK! Imagine all the pyrate vendors, entertainment, speakers, classes, and meeting folks you've only ever chatted with online and all just walking distance from the French Quarter. If you're going to visit just one pyrate event this year. . . PyrateCon is the one to invade!

Just days prior to my birthday, I had to do the obligatory trip to Motor Vehicles to get my driver's license renewed in the state of Delaware. I observed some folks with odd fashion-sense getting their photos taken. A passing thought while waiting for the license to be created, had I, m'mates. . . . has anyone gotten their Driver's license photo take while decked out in their pyratical best? Would it not be amusing to have a growing surge of folks' licenses be of pyratical nature? What say ye? Grab thy frock and tricorn and head to the DMV!

Our distributor is Ingram Periodicals and the distribute to Borders, Barnes & Nobel, Waldenbooks, etc. . . I'd think that any large book chain would carry the magazine. There's a lot of smaller chains and mom-n-pop shops.

The issue is off press and in the bindery since yesterday. I can only guess, but I'd say that the issue will be in the mail to subscribers and on bookstore shelves next week!

Thank thee a Delta-Burke-pantload m'mates. . . . at 45 I'm at the midpoint of life m'thinks and I'll be spending it drinking heavy down in Fells Point, Baltimore, MD at the local DuClaw's restaurant. They're featuring a new Celtic Fury ale and serving me Bangers and Mash! I'm wearin' m'black kilt adorned with m'pyrate kilt pin. If yer in the area, drop by and hoist a few with us! The issue is on press as of this morning. Should be printed by Tuesday then two days in the Bindery and shipped. We may have them a week earlier than expected! HUZZZAHHH!

I think we should find a vendor's pub where we can all spend what we just made all day!

Our Winter Issue is now in the hands of the printer. . . I should see proofs by Tuesday or Wednesday m'thinks. . .woohoo (pardon my excitement).

As the publisher of a competing periodical I have to admit enjoying the issues of Pirates Magazine as well. . . and I subscribe to No Quarter Given. . . and Wooden Boats. . . and Attitudes and Lattitudes (I don't even own a boat. . . .yet). Everyone loves various magazines for various personal reasons and to try and please "everyone" with every issue is not just impossible but. . .uh. . .um. . . impossible -infinity. Anyway. . . I've not seen Issue 3 of PM but looking forward to getting my hands on it to read. Just my opinion, mind ye.

There have been some updates to the entertainment list to the PyrateCon2007 in New Orleans during the third weekend in April. www.pyratecon.com The Pyrates Way will be set up with a booth selling subscriptions, back issues, and offering free pyrate portraits of all new subscribers! The vendors' list is growing and after talking to the folks running the event, (The IPS), there are a LOT of surprises to come! A Pyrate Pub Crawl is always a fun event. . .but to invade THE FRENCH QUARTER in full garb? This is gonna' ROCK. Hope to see some familiar pyrate faces!

Sorry for the holdup folks, but we've been waiting for the allotment amounts from our new distributor. On February 28, The Pyrates Way Winter 06-07 goes to press! Which means that you'll get your copy of that issue right on the birthday of The Black Fox (a.k.a., ME, der publisher). The Ides of March is when it'll start arriving at your door (unless there are any other hangups) and you'll notice 100% improvement in the magazine over the first issue. Now get out there and spread the word and have folks get their subscription orders in ASAP so that they can get the booty with the issue (only subscribers will get the free booty). We're expecting the magazine in all the bookstores (via said distributor) by March 20 (i.e. the day before Spring!. . . so it'll STILL be Winter. . .uh. . . technically).

I purchased this CD at the NYEve cruise in Baltimore and love it. The instrumentals are top notch and I keep all of them on my ipod. There's a review of the CD in the next issue of The Pyrates Way which is almost to press.

So far all the "Wenches of the Quarter" in The Pyrates Way have been "real" women, not faked, plastered, Photoshopped models. I even put my wife on the cover because to me she is very beautiful. I got a lot of crap over the women I put in the Wenches of the Quarter part of the magazine as being "unrefined photos" or "unflattering" but actually two of the real women in that section knew what I was shooting for. . . and the third (who happens to be winning as the most-popular) submitted the photo! I've not, nor will I, retouch any of the photos outside of adding the text and working the color balance for print. In the next issue, I only took ONE of the WotQ photos. . .the other two were submitted to me. I'd much rather have real, thick, happy wenches who are real in the magazine than some that are skinny, lit perfectly in a studio, then Photoshop. I've turned away at least one model from a recent "Pirate Wench" calendar who tried to pass herself off as "real" (using the same calendar photo with no permission from the photographer. . .eeeeesh). Anyway, from where I sees it mates, all our wenches are beautiful. . . and no matter what they look like. . . . they all have cleavage. The gods gave us cleavage, we should drink to its blessings each night. so says I.

I've not been west of the great St. Louis Arch. . .should be a fun event. . . look for our tables!
