  1. Well let Disney know that there are BIG kids too! Some of us are still trying to get to NeverLand! *Grins*

Oh.. I think they know that.

One of the reason that the parks lost the Jack characters walking around was that too many women were *stalking* him. They were doing kind of lurid things in front of kids and that was that. (sigh)

  2. At the moment all this is in Florida... AND just for little kids.

No Disney Venue will ever let adults come in costumes for security reasons... unless they are hired for a gig. If someone did something bawdy or off color or just plain mean Disney would get the blame and the lawsuit.

Control freaks that they are... unless your paid too, costumes are out.

I'll not be threr. I will be snug here in CA doing m'own Pirate Faires!

  3. Oh Aye....

I've been looking fer someone to put a shortened cutless blade on my favorite bronze rapier hilt (Custom from Lundgarrd Armory) but have not found anyone I trust enough yet since my wonderful Lars is not producing at the moment. :(

  4. Okay all you East Coasters with kids... (Wait.... is that Jacky Tar in line???...)

The Pirates League sets sail in Magic Kingdom June 29

Walt Disney World Resort Press Release

    April 27, 2009

Calling all scoundrels, rogues and ne’er-do-wells – Captain Jack and the crew of the Black Pearl want YOU. Starting in late June, the Pearl drops anchor in Adventureland for The Pirates League, recruiting and training park guests of all ages in the scurrilous ways of buccaneers. Each guest checking in at the plunder-filled recruitment office gets an official pirate name. Next step is the Muster Station where – after applications of beards and eye patches, scarves and scars, earrings and gold teeth – the new recruits leave their old identities behind. Past a hidden portal and into the treasure cache, the new shipmates speak the pirate oath and have their official “pirate portrait” taken before being turned loose on an unsuspecting Adventureland – and no doubt feeling right at home at the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. Boys, girls and grownups ready for the pirate life start the process by calling 407/WDW-CREW beginning May 11. Packages

    start at $49.95 plus tax.

Yo ho: Pirate makeover coming to Magic Kingdom in June

The new Pirates League will try to do for buccaneers what the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique has done for little princesses at Disney World.

The attraction, which will open at Magic Kingdom theme park June 29, will perform swashbuckling makeovers. Participants will receive pirate names before receiving a variety of accessories, including beards, eye patches, scarves, scars, earrings and gold teeth. These will be applied by a "veteran pirate" with sea-sailing tales.

After taking a sacred oath and an official portrait, guests will be part of Jack Sparrow's gang.

There will be three pirate packages.

+ First Mate Package ($49.95): bandana, choice of facial effects, sword and sheath, pirate coin necklace, 5x7 photo and a "personalized pirate oath."

+ Empress Package ($49.95): bandana, "shimmering" makeup, sword and sheath, pirate coin necklace, 5x7 photo and a "personalized pirate oath."

+ Captains Package ($124.95): choice of costume, facial effects, sword and sheath, pirate coin necklace, three 5x7 photos and the personalized oath.

The League will be located in the area between the entrance to the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction and the Pirates Merchandise shop. (Disney says this is currently backstage territory.)

But hang tight, mateys: Reservations cannot be made until May 11.

  5. Too funny, Bess. You answered my question before I had a chance to ask it! B)

Chain Shot and I just watched Donovan's Reef last night, and I was wondering which ship that was. Chain Shot got it right then, because he guessed it was owned by Ford.

Don't feel too bad about not appreciating the ship. Chain Shot got a chance to go on John Wayne's boat when it was moored at Newport, CA. And yes, John Wayne would have been on board. He turned the offer down. Regrets that decision to this day.

Oh I don't feel too bad about it.. I was too busy being sea sick. :(

And The Wild Goose was an amazing ship. A converted Mine Sweeper.

Bad Chain Shot!! Bad!! Bad!! :D

  6. Here ya go... I sing with two Pirate bands that do this song..

    BILLY BONES

Good morning to you Billy Bones, Billy Bones

Good Morning to you charming Billy,

When I last saw your hands, they were brown as my own,

Now up through white fingers the grasses have grown.

And what of this cutlass, so carelessly thrown,

On the ground, Billy Bones, billy Bones?

    Chorus:

    Bones, bones, bones, Billy Bones,

Send him off to Davy Jones!

Of rum and gold and wenches bold,

You've had your last fill Billy Bones!

Good morning to you, Billy Bones, Billy Bones

Good morning to you charming Billy,

That chest that you're laying on once sailed the salt sea,

    That's why you, I, and Flint'yd agree,

To divvy the contents up in to three,

Gold and Jewels, Billy Bones, Billy Bones.

    (Chorus)

    Bones, bones, bones, Billy Bones,

Send him off to Davy Jones!

Of rum and gold and wenches bold,

You've had your last fill Billy Bones!

Good morning to you, Billy Bones, Billy Bones

Good morning to you charming Billy,

You've done in many a Tar in your day,

And sent 'em off to sleep in the bay,

Well it looks like turn-about's, Fair Play!

At least for today, Billy Bones!

    (Chorus)

    Bones, bones, bones, Billy Bones,

Send him off to Davy Jones!

Of rum and gold and wenches bold,

You've had your last fill Billy Bones!

Good morning to you, Billy Bones, Billy Bones

Good morning to you charming Billy,

Now old Flint is dead, and that leaves only me,

So I'll shovel your bony old arse in the sea,

And I'll drink to your health, which you'll never see!

Without eyes, without lips, skully bones.

    (Chorus)

    Bones, bones, bones, Billy Bones,

Send him off to Davy Jones!

Of rum and gold and wenches bold,

You've had your last fill Billy Bones! (Twice)

  7. Welcome aboard mate....

Hope you find enough here to keep yer interest fer a spell.

At least until you can buy the first round!!

    Set 'em up Joe! :(

  8. For the film *Swashbuckler* they used the ship *Golden Hind* (Re named the Blarney Cock for the film)

And the Ship in the 1956 TV Series The Buccaneers was indeed the ship from Treasure Island and Mobey Dick and was called the *Sultan*

    Here's a bonus...

In *Donavan’s Reef*, the masted schooner that brought Amelia Dedem to the Islands was Director John Ford’s personal ship, the 106 foot beauty, the Araner.

I was lucky enough (when I was too young and stupid to appreciate it) to have a sail on her before she was sold in 1971.

  9. I still think the pirate should have just ran into the water and seen if the knight would chase...

    Neat show!

Between the armor and the bucket boots.. that could have been pretty damn funny...

Especially... if there had been a ship with full cannon waiting off shore for the Knight.

(Sorry, sorry I know that would not be very chivalrous ... (shrug)

  10. For those of you in the area this Saturday afternoon/evening... I can whole-heartedly recommend this group to you!

Rowdy, entertaining and fun! FUN! and more fun! :D

    Ahoy Mi Hearties !

    We be coming into Dock.

  11. It's all about the money...

And like them or hate them, these type of *Pop Culture* Pirate movies are making money for us hand over fist. EVen so long after they came out.

They are the most asked after films we get *when! When!?* letters about.

If it works they will stick to the not so historical process, go with the more Mythical and make tons more money. (shrug) :D

  12. I work with mentally ill patients who also have...shall we say.....behavioral issues. Someone is always trying to bite, kick, punch, scratch, or headbutt me. Never the same day twice.

Sounds like the Team Disney Building.
