  1. Rogue Mermaid.....didn't you have a wedding thing the same time as celtic fling at PA?????

Yes, I have four weddings to attend this year and I'm in one of them.

One was in June, Two are in September, and One is in October.

So that is four less Saturdays for Renn Faires and it doen't include all the bridal showers and bacholerette parties that go along with each wedding.

Crimson are you implying that I'm making up weddings to avoid pirating events? :D

How insulting...there's just alot of love in my social circle :D

  2. I had a fantastic time Saturday (until the sun came out and I boiled alive in my bodice!!!). It was great getting to meet both Cheryl and Constance. I'll need to get my behind in gear and get some photos posted. I also tried to find you Mercenary Wench, but alas I looked in the wrong place too. I was looking in the costume place across from the rock candle guy next to the two kiddy swings run by pirates. Darnit all. Oh well, I'm going back sometime in October with my little cousins. I'll try again then!!!! (and this time I'll look at the map!!!) B)

  3. It is sad that this is what our society has come to.

It was not a good idea for the girl to walk from the bad area to her tent, I think that is the point Cheryl is making. No one deserves to be raped and left in a coma.

I don't live in a very good part of my town (starting out on my own, low funds, cheap apartment, safe area during the day...sleezy at night!) so I am very careful of my surroundings, carry mace, and I can also defend myself if that is what it came down to.

It's scary though. Nothing and nowhere are really truely safe. When I go camping at a state park in DE is it safe for me to walk from my tent to the toliets? It should be, but you never know who else is out there.

It seems that we all have to adapt to the world that we live in. Not everyone is bad, but there is no way to tell who is and who isn't . There is such a thin line between caution and all out paranoia. You can't live your life in fear of things that might not happen, but you have to take precautions so those things don't happen.

If that poor girl was drinking I'm sure that the danger in walking to her tent alone didn't even cross her mind. (Also a bad idea, a young woman drinking alone in public)

I think it's so sad that a slip in judgement can make you a target to such horrible, horrible people. I hope those bastards were caught. :(

  4. Nah, the boyfriend doesn't want to dress up. I'm just happy he's going. He threatened to go as a potato sack. We're also going with three other couples. Three more plain clothes people, two more pirates, and a princess/lady.

  5. Cool, I'm also not sure of my arrival time yet but I'll probley be there most of the day. I was thinking we could meet where MercenaryWench is working so she doesn't miss out.

(If thats ok with her boss!)

I don't have a pin but I know you guys do so I'll try to be sure and approach you first.

    Is anyone else coming Saturday???

If anyone sees a short chick with straight long brown hair, black leather bodice, red skirt w/a fish net over it, and a cheap dagger with mermaid for a hilt thats me. I will be with a normal (or at least he looks normal, don't be fooled!) blonde haired guy.

  6. I've noticed this interesting trend while out shopping:

There will be a kid who is obviously being BAD (screaming, crying, begging for toys in un-cute ways). After said kid throws a temper tantrum that is so loud the entire store is watching them the parents loudly shame the kid by yelling things like, "No one here feels bad for you" or "You know everyone here thinks you are a brat and you're ruining their day" or some other statement that the parent is making so that the other customers feel bad for them. I've seen it happen at least five times this year. Personally I don't feel sorry for the parent in that situation.

It's easy for me to say though, I don't have kids, but I might someday. I highly respect everyone who raises kids with love and intelligence (and patience, god the patience you guys must have!). It's gotta be hard these days.

  7. Post birthday celebration exhaustion, but happy.

I am terrified of pregnancy. Nine months of having a parasite that makes you puke everyday. Yippee... When I decide it's time for kids I'm growing them in a jar in the basement
