Good Luck, Daniel. I am starting to hit the books again. Mine are all Structural Analysis based.

I have currently be slowly working the leather to loosen it up and it seems to be working so the slat idea might not be needed.

Usually around Pensacola.

Welcome aboard, mate. I alternate my location from the Gulf to Mid Missouri due to school but I keep the spirit alive where're I may be.
-
Weekend of the 17 and 18 I will be there.

Pine Tar might actually help with the bug problem though.

Just as an update...
I am thinking of buying a slat of pine to make a false blade to widen and stretch it some. Although the blade is drawable it is a bit snug and I am going to see if I can retrofit a stretch. Nothing to lose at this point as the false blade will not let it shrink past its original size.

I have dyed it a mahogany brown and am glad to say its a snug fit but drawable.

Here is the first update. I have stretched and formed the leather and added a bronze locket. I now must wait for the leather to completely dry before proceeding. So far no trouble with the blade draw. I intentionally made it a bit big to accommodate for shrinkage. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will still draw when dry.

For those of you that may not know I am currently in the process of building a scabbard for my new sword from Privateer Armory. I have just acquired enough supplies to start the project and will be updating it here. I plan on a stretched leather scabbard with no wooden core. I also plan on adding a bronze tip and and lock.
This is the sword I bought and a link to Privateer Armory.

I really like the first one and would gladly pay for it.

Actually, in Tim Power's book On Stranger Tides a regenerated Blackbeard (now called Edmund Morcilla) does return shortly after his death at Ocracoke.
Interesting if they'll work something like that into a POTC-5?
Jas. Hook
If you picked it up from the movie Blackbeard was already dead. Jack made a comment to the Ocracoke incident when they met.

I tip my hat to this project. What I would give to have a personal retreat such as this.

A glass to ye, Mate.

This topic has become helpful to me as I have been looking for a utilitarian PC knife. Daggers are easy but I just want a knife that I can work with. So far I have found a folder that dates to Valley Forge and a camp knife.

The buckle is outstanding. I now have it attached to a baldric that PoD made. It will be posted soon in the garb thread. Just waiting on a few items.

Just as an update: I went with a queue. It seemed to suit me more. When I do grow out my hair I start by chopping the hair in the back so as it grows the bangs can play catch up first. It seemed the more practical solution for the time periods that I find myself short of hair, as I know that I will most likely grow my hair back at a later date
What brought you here?
