  1. I was cruising the aisles of KMart today...look'n for someone to waite on me.... when My little wench spotted a $70 POTC DVD player on sale for $14....I grabbed it..er for a keepsake as it were then on the shelf just above it she spotted a POTC treasure chest CD player with the red (blinking ) heart of Davey Jones ...it were on sale for only $10...I be a richer man (collector) for it....aaaaarrrrggggghhhh! Oh how my plunder grows.... You might check out the Kmart in your area to see if they are purging their stock........Happy Plunder'n Joe
  2. The store is at the North end of the Prime Outlet mall...( SR 16 & interstate 95..North East corner) they are adding 50 more stores so you have to look hard for the entrance then walk through a construction tunnel ...they have lots on knick knacks..pirate and nautical.....like the 6 foot triple decker in the front of the store......but I buy my swords and pistols at Tom's Gifts at A1A & 312......go across the downtown bridge and follow Anastasia Blvd (A1A)...it will curve past the Alligator Farm on the right then the Amphitheater on the left as the road turned to the beach you will see Tom's on the left....orange & white stripped bldg. Happy Plunder'n....if I get downtown, I'll look you up....they don't like my garb so I'll be in civvies.. Best Joe
  3. A friend gave me 2 brass plates from England......I painted them black and then buffed the raised areas and here is Admiral Nelson....eye patch and missing arm....it took so long to do that I am trying to talk myself into buffing the 2nd one. I am doing a book signing at the Friends of the Library book store at the Prime outlet mall tomorrow......they lured me there when I found out there is a pirate store across the mall from them.......now if I can sell enough books I come home with more pirate plunder....lol
  4. Great Photos!...Thanks for posting ps I love the gold work on your garb! Joe
  5. Happy Birthday..ta one of me favorite Pirates.......hope ye has an enjoyable "Special Day" Joe
  6. Here be me new garb.....Coat, Waistcot and black pants Mad Dog shows Bonny and me his many letters of Marque. Here is a standing shot with my daughter-in-law, Wench Sheila. looks like a merchant what deals in piratical plunder. I may have developed a new character!
  7. Well I guess I was misinformed on a lot about the ship. She is associated with hotels but I am not sure she is owned by them. She is steel hulled and intended for the tourist trade. I met the Captain at a recent pirate event, a charming fellow indeed, and saw a sketch of the Black Raven. She is a replica of a Spanish Galleon. Here is the link to their site…..promises to be a great addition to piracy in the “Old City” Black Raven Adventures
  8. Happy Birthday Friend....Hope you get all the plunder you desire! Live Long and Plunder Well!!!! Joe
  9. Sorry I missed your post....congratulations.....just wait till you hold the first copy....what a great feeling you will have.....wish you the best of luck with it. Joe
  10. I thank ye kindly Mr. "O" but I have a long way to catch up with your pirate cove.....I admire it very much. KP
  11. Here is me in my new garb. Black (suit material)coat with red and gold cuffs, Black pants and gold waistcoat, jabot and lace cuffs......put a little gold on the brim of the hat...it is fairly cool in this Florida sun.
  12. Here is this weekend's project. A Friend keeps giving me nautical items. He has been a vast collector, in the past, but his wife won't let him put then up in their house so as he goes through boxes he brings his plunder to me. This week he gave me two solid brass plates from England. One has Lord Nelson and the Victory on it...I'll post those photos when I decide what to do with them. Last week he gave me a brass barometer and clock. I used an old wood board I had laying around, stained it then tacked some white rope around the edge and mounted the instruments, one of my pistols and hung my pirate pocket watch, then to finish it off used double faced mounting tape to attach a pirate patch. I used left overs from previous projects so this one cost nothing but the two hours I spent making it. While I was in the mood to tinker I found some $6 shelves at the Dollar Store. They were already assembled & painted with coat hooks....I needed a shelf for another one of my ships and a place to put my costume jewelry. Here is a closer look. Plunder is where ye finds it! Joe
  13. Here are some photos from our pirate gathering yesterday. photos We had a Great time and made some new pirate friends. KP
  14. I am fixing up some gear for a Pirate Raid next weekend and needed a couple of more sword frogs so I made a trip to Hobby Lobby and found some leather and dye. This is my first attempt at this kind of frog.....I think if will do the job on my loaner gear. The leather is kinda thin...I will look for some thick stock when I get the chance. Joe
  15. I am having a black pair made (take note Rumba...lol) by a wonderful local pirate seamstress named "Mad Woman", (Mia Brewer) she does most of the pirate garb for folks here in St. Augustine. Guess I'm slowly changing from a Hollywood pirate to a period correct pirate......she promised to be slow and gentle with me through the transition....lol
  16. Well, that just makes it all worth it, now doesn't it? Here is my dream desk, but alas it is $450 and a bit out of me reach right now. Captain's davenport desk That is a beauty...small enough to fit aboard any sailing vessel if the wheels lock...can't have the desk rolling from side to side......lol
  17. Thank You Gentlemen....not only does it keep me rum aboard, it also keeps visitors from putting their little seat cheeks on my desk....lol
  18. I had the urge to do something and gave it some thought while at my computer desk and decided I needed a ship's rail on my desk. I went to the craft store and bought a few turned candle holders, two strips of balsa and two flat pieces of bass wood. ...trimmed & sanded the balsa and glued it all together......cost about $20 and took less than an hour. The room is dark red and lit by dim lights so I don't know if I will paint it or not....kind like it natural. Still Plunder'n Joe
  19. Well Done....plum piratical look'n......I admire that barrel.....not lots of them around here...I'm drool'n with envy. Ah, the barrel. It's from Tom Sawyer Island at Magic Kingdom. I have another one over by the sofa that we use for an end table. I'll have to get around to taking photos of the rest of the room... The rest of it are old crates, an oak box we got surplus (shipping crate kind) a board from Home Depot that we stained and some other flotsam and jetsam. We originally used two large oak barrels instead of all the smaller stuff but the smelled so badly of vinegar we couldn't bear to bring them in the house. So they remain in the garage and we just improvised from there. Turns out it is much smaller for us to ship to Key West so we'll be leaving the barrels home this year and go with this look instead. The back credenza is just a buffet we happened to have around. But I think it turned out amazingly well. Will post the other photos of the great room when I get a chance. Thanks all for the compliments. Anytime you're on the Space Coast the bar is open here. -- Hurricane Pirate activity is growing in St. Augustine.....lots of new players. On March 29 there is a Pirate gathering at Hurricane Patty's Pub so I will be meeting some of the new folks. I am being swung to the authenticity side and am having phase one of my new garb made for the event. (it is hard to change from the Hollywood garb I use at book events...lol but I am trying.) I your pirates can make it I am sure you will make lots of contacts and have a Good time. Best to you and your Mate. Joe ps. PU is growing in visitation.
  20. Well Done....plum piratical look'n......I admire that barrel.....not lots of them around here...I'm drool'n with envy.
  21. I totally agree,Sir. The more folks get interested in piracy the better for all of us. After all "The Brotherhood" is wide and varied, We should embrace them all.
  22. Don't know how may folks know about the pirates at Hi5 but I am hooked up with 66 nice folks. I think this might get you there...or close enough. Joe's Hi5 Drop by for a little nip!
  23. I'll dig around and see what I can find out. The guy building it owns several hotels in the area and could afford to go 1st class with it but I wager it would be something in the tourist class.
  24. St. Augustine is getting our own pirate ship, a version of the Black Pearl. She is being built by a local hotel owner and will be located at the city yacht pier for a while them moved to the Fountain of Youth as her final home. Don't know her arrival date but I know she will be here for the Florida Heritage Book Festival September 14th & 15th. I'll post more as I find out the details. Keep to the Code! Joe
  25. One of the ships in POTC2, the Pearl, I think, is a real ship of sorts. She was built on the hull of one of those offshore oil rig supply boats......saw some photos of her construction, in a Mobile shipyard. KP
